Bazel and Lunastra didn't even fall down, Sigma grindset.
Makes sense as well since the bomber is a fucking tank that regularly blows itself up and Luna is covered in blue flame that is incredibly hot.

@@SnakeInTheRain being closer does do more damage, but teostra actually has a low blast resist if im correct, and dioblos has a mid resistance to blast and a resistance to fire.

@The Nerd Beast lol yeah. Some of them survived by acually doing that and keeping a distance from the point of impact. Although, im not sure they wanted to survive if it means being injured and one on one with safi.

Seems the damage goes from:
Far away: 20,500 damage
Mid distance: 24,168 damage
Really close: Straight up death. It's possible Lunastra might barely survive being right under.
I think they also need decent fire resist. Frostfang Barioth was far away, and still had over 20,500 health, but still died. I think the nova here deals fire damage, and that might be why the frostfang Barioth still died.

Tbf, dude was directly on the center of the blast.
It all seems to be dependent on the distance from the blast and the armor(?) of the monster, since certain monsters who had higher health but were closer or had less armor died and those with less health but farther away or with high armor survived.
No I think it is more to do with hit zone values because each sapphire did roughly 20k damage but some monsters highest hit zones may differ by around 5-10 so that's around a 2k difference in damage. Also may have to do with elemental hit zones as well
I think it may be a matter of both, cause monsters with the same or close to the same np at different distances survived or got destroyed
There is also the fact some Monsters whack out like for example. Fatalis' supernova heavily damages Safi while Safi's Sapphire barely deals 300 damage back. And the worst part is Fatty is closer to the attack than Safi is.
At long range, it consistently does 20500 damage, and more than 27520 at close range

So apparently Sapphire of the Emperor is less of an explosion and more of a fountain of bioenergy flames. It feels weird being able to see it at that distance...
@Abyssal Scion I think it's cool that they made certain moves different and how they work. Especially how safi's move does different damage based on distance unlike fatalis's nova.
It seems like Alatreon's Escaton Judgement is the true arena wide explosion type of attack (I'm putting behemoth aside since its an collab monster). With Alatreon itself being the bomb that is.

Edit: also it seems the closer they are, the more ticks they have to survive. Teostra has 27k hp and didn't survive cause he was right under the blast, while other monsters with 21k hp survived aince they were far away from it, so I'd say none would have survived if they were right under the blast
Think it also may have to do with hit zone values as a difference of 1 would be a 200 damage difference, roughly, also I think that there may be some elemental damage at play so that could affect the damage done
@@minuano9304 no, it clearly shows that as closer to impact point as more damage they took, every monster who was on the edge of the map only got 20500 or sometimes even little bit less. And all straight under died no matter what elem weaknesses they had. If all monster where placed at the edge I am sure every monster with 20500+ HP had survived.
Safi's life cycle is awesome as a cocoon it summons dying elders and lesser monsters to its location to parish harvesting energy to undergo metamorphosis. Which causes a bio diversity boom then after many year it hatches and drains that location of the deposited energy.
You should do this for Escaton Judgment. I wonder if it'd be stronger or weaker than Sapphire of the Emperor.
Unfortunately, Sapphire of the Emperor in this video isn't actual one. This is buffed like Fatalis nova by this video editor. The actual damage of Safi'jiva's ultimate is around 500 to any monsters. Escaton Judgment is as well. So whether Escaton Judgment is stronger or not depends on this video editor. "Only" Fatalis nova can overkill not only the player but also monsters like in this video.

Imagine if the blue fire that coats the ground did burn damage until you got behind one of those rocks as well? The devs were merciful in that regard because it could've made Safi'jiiva the most broken mechanic boss in World.
It wouldn’t be bad even if it did damage akin to fatalis flames b4 the oneshotting part of the flames. You can definitely get to a good position before its an issue

In an MH sense, Safi'jiiva will look unique to those hunters in the universe because there aren't a lot of monster designs that are heavily inspired by western dragon themes.

This might be the top 50 coolest moves in video game history. Something about the contextual evolution of "1-hit KO" spectacles throughout the years intrigues me like no other and it's nice seeing them outside of JRPGs.

Makes less since when you realize that silver absorbs heat better then gold and has a lower melting point
It's so weird. They are both immune to fire damage, so I'm going with distance from the ultimate matters or the ultimate inexplicably does thunder damage, which Gold has a slightly higher weakness to than Silver.
Kushala Daora, and Lunastra were pretty close, but not that close, suffered 24,168 damage each.
Teostra and Black Veil looked to be closer. Straight up died despite having 27,520 hp.

Maybe silver has better defense since gold easily has more fire power. Compare both of their ultimate moves and gold's fire ball dwarfs silver's.

From what I think since even teostra died with 27k hp and no fire or blast weakness is that the close you are to the blast, the more damage you are going to take.

I’m curious if them being in a smaller arena would change anything, it clearly does more damage the closer you are
I noticed that the damage closer to the center seemed to be more significant than if you were on the outskirts. Almost all of the survivors I have seen so far were on the outskirts, one was further away, and absolutely none were in extremely close to the area of impact. It may be nothing, but it makes for an unintended variable, an example video with one creature at varying distances receiving the same damage should suffice. Just an observation. My questions are: can a monster use cover and survive the blast? Can a monster be too big to use cover? Can a monster use cover, but die if sideways?
@Name i think most people agree that the further you are the more likely you will survive added you have a large HP pool. I believe in the fight video between fatalis and safi: th-cam.com/video/TfdRlgKiaiE/w-d-xo.html fatalis hides behind the rock and receives no damage.

im pretty sure it depends on how close you are to the blast spot, how much damage is outputed
People are noting distance determines damage, but I just think that makes it more realistic. Explosions obviously diffuse the further you are from them. Imo that’s perfect.

@Goji i agree that does make sense but it's really cool to see that safi's ultimate isn't just a simple one hit move and the creators actually put some thought in to the implementation of the move.
