In general are these fairly easy to work on? When you buy a decent one is listen to Suzuki actually pretty reliable? I've heard the first Generations where what to stay away from? I'm in the market so any advice you could give would be helpful
To answer your question they are rock solid reliable. I have an 04 kfx that was the "family" quad before I got it. It's been ridden hard in the sand dunes for years and have never had one single issue. I love mine and in the process of completely restoring it
Hey man awesome video. Looking for some help. Just bought an 05 kfx400. There is a "switch" on the left lever seems to activate with the clutch part number 27010-s041. Do you have any idea what that switch is for? Can't get quad to start
Also what compression levels are you getting remember hold down the throttle all the way while your pressing the starter and if your getting below 120 something wrong with your engine
You need valve shims, a set of feeler gauges, and you have to remove cams and timing chain.

And yes they are fairly easy to work on but like I said I haven't had to other than cleaning the carb, changing oil, and cleaning air filter.
how did you free up the carberator, i just bought one and everything is stuck open on the carb.
Take it apart and work everything free with wd40

Not sure bro look up the part number on the internet or ebay
Or Rocky Mountain atv mc oem parts
Without knowing exactly what your talking about I would say it's the parking brake if it's activated with the clutch

Try cleaning out the carburetor if it’s been sitting for a while and you clean it and it still doesn’t start just a buy a new carburetor always works

It sounds exactly just like the one in this video
