    Previous mdx had 277,000 miles own it and all we didn't was normal Maintence , I'm the first person to say its the most reliable and luxurious mid SUV I've ever owned!!!!

    I'm quite a bit older than you..so you wouldn't remember the huge station wagons from the 70's. Our family had a massive Dodge station wagon with the faaaar bench seat that faced the rear. I LOVED that as a kid..make faces at the cars behind us, stretch out - no seat belts back then and my dad's arm couldn't reach that far. Thanks for bringing up a great memory.

    A nice review, just a couple of things that should have been mentioned. First, you were reviewing a new 2013 model, but not a new MDX, which has been around unchanged for over 3 years. Second, you were reviewing the top of the line Advance with Entertainment Package, while Technology Package offers most of the same features for much less. Also, 2013 year being the last year of the current design, the 55K MSRP is on paper only. A real price is about 47K, which is more than competitive.

    Even tho they will have the new 2014 mdx out soon, I still much more prefer this current edition, which just looks way much better and masculine.

    That big dash wood on the RL was real and looked awesome. I had an RL and the wood on the dash rivaled Mercedes.

      What year RL? I absolutely loved the 2012 RL Advance model with the radar shield in the grille. It had power folding mirrors and resonators in the OEM wheels.

    I have an 11 MDX Adv+Ent with +150,000 miles and it is still fun to drive. It still looks good, very sporty handling, very comfy for road trips, and mostly routine schedule maintenance. Doing 100% city can produce mpgs of 14-16 and requiring +91 octane can hurt a bit with today's gas prices. Can see 17-18.5 combined and 20-22 mpg on 100% hwy driving. The 10-13 had an awful oil consumption issue as bad as 1 qt per 1000 miles because of the cylinder rings and carbon build-up. I've always used syn oil and top tier +91 octane gas has limited my oil consumption to 1.5 qts per 9000 mile oil change interval.

      I just got a 2007 rdx turbo with 110k miles on it going to do maintenance on to keep it running 100% and yes that premium gas lolol😅 I found out after I bought it like ohh ok acura luxury is! no biggie smiles per gallon

      @@bryanCLXT I had an 08 RDX since 2010 and gave to my daughter in 2019. She still drives it today with +200,000 miles. Really love driving the RDX and it drove better the harder you pushed it.

    My sister has this car and I borrowed it to take up to Lake Tahoe since there was a snow storm coming and was worried about driving my Odyssey in the snow. One thing that really bothered me was the faux wood shine. There was a consistent glare in my eye while driving from it and various other interior pieces. It handles very well and had no problem with the snow 16-20 inches fell in a 24 hour period.

    Hi, thanks for the offer. I think you guys are doing quite well. I like cars since I was a kid; now over 60's, I still enjoy reading or watching anything about cars. Worked in rebuilding and after-market auto parts for 10 years. I strongly believe " Everyman Driver "would be a great hit and attract more subscribers in looking for the "watch out" list of cars that are reliable yet what kind of components or repair necessary in 36, 48, 60 and 72 months of service. Your measurement stick.:)

    Great review. What I find weird is that Acura is the luxury line for Honda, but Acura interior space looks so limited in the back seat compared to Honda similar cars. The TSX has less back room than Accord, the RDX has less than CRV. Even the Honda Fit appears to have more leg room in the backseat than the Acura cars... and the Fit is a small car.

    Hi Guys, you might want to consider doing reviews or recommendations of good used cars. We all know Honda Civics, Toyota Camry, and alike going over 200,000 miles. MDX a reliable car also. Any new car reviews can only be found several years later not to be as good as when the review came out.

    Not a good review of what all the MDX can do and wrong on the paddle shifter. Shift the stick to S and the car will stay in gear selected with paddles minis first to second auto upshift. Middle row seats recline and 3rd row is great for families. 2nd row seat on passenger side allows for easy access to 3rd row. DVD remote comes down from ceiling for wireless. Tons of topend speed. I upgraded ly wheels and exhaust but otherwise factory. Love everything accept the changes to the phone system.

    Acura tried to put sports seats in this because, relatively speaking, its a sporty crossover. Thigh support is superb but the lumbar is just in all of the wrong places, at least for my un-average height family. We're considering a Lexus GX460, waiting to see what the new Yukon will be like, and potentially Acura's own RDX. Odd list haha

  • @TheSkraner
    @TheSkraner 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was just wondering: could you highlight in your reviews some possible trouble areas (maintenance, repair, everyday use) with the various vehicles? It might help the potential buyer. I'm not suggesting you X-ray a new model to find its weak spots; rather, you might perhaps hint at such weak spots with reference to the preceding model, so we know what to watch out for and we can also ask at a local dealership if those uncool areas have been addressed by the manufacturer. Thanks for these vids!

    I own a 2011 MDX Tech. While I can say its a great overall value for the dollar, we won't be keeping it much longer as the seats are positively AWFUL on any trip over 30 minutes(longer than my test drive..). Unfathomably uncomfortable. Though on short jaunts to the store, the SUV is a joy to drive with the J37, SH-AWD, and 6AT.

  • @winnebagoliving879

    If the rear seat was switched facing the rear then there would be absolutely 0 trunk space. Once the rear seat is up trunk space is fairly limited. I fit one row of groceries in the trunk with the third row up. My 8 year old and 6 year old are fairly comfortable in the third row as well so it’s spacious for the little people.

    10 years later I can report that 3.7L V6 wasn't a great engine and there is a reason Honda only had it in the Acura line for a few model years. Sadly, we bought a 2013 with the 3.7L and just sold it for a 2023 Acura MDX 3.5L V6 at the end of last year. We had major oil consumption issues, head gasket oil leaks, and the MPG was absolutely terrible. It only had 99,200'ish miles on it when we sold it too.
    Thankfully the new 3.5L V6 is an incredible motor, and our MDX is only front wheel drive so it get 22 city and 26-27 highway all day. We did love the 2013 MDX vehicle and the power was nice, but head gaskets and oil consumption issues at that miles (started in the low 90Ks), is just not acceptable.

    Acura is currently offering 0.9% and $2,500 off the retail (before the 2014). I looked at the X5 (similarly equipped $65,000), Cayenne ($75,000), Q7 ($65,000) and Infinity JX. It took a few seconds to exclude the Germans, Euro is still too high and they practically offer the same power, less space and really expensive options. Infinity and Acura are up the buyers preferences. Infinity has more space; Acura has better handling, transmision and power. GM products are great too, but too top heavy.

      Arron it appears you love Acura that's fine but let's hope you look a little better than it's front end, looks like a bloody budgie and it's a chick car, I'm fine with that each to their own but it's no Cayenne. As for the SH-AWD, I believe when I commented a year or so ago they were changing it to be an option, could be wrong. Now if you really want to star a pissing match by insulting people on the interwebs then let the games begin .... :)

    • @chnl2commentisdumb
      @chnl2commentisdumb 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right... Unlike a Cayenne, it doesn't depreciate like a rock and you can drive it daily for a fraction of the cost. Cayenne is sexy, no doubt, but for those of us what have owned German, the far better reliability and much lower cost of ownership is appreciated. And, this SUV handles pretty damn well.
