Channel X, thanks for the suggestion. I would agree that this phase of my life for repair videos was more challenging in a tiny garage, without overhead lighting or proper tool space. However, i would encourage you to take a look at more recent videos and how much more clear and visable they are. Im still a work in progress, and i apprecaite all the suggestions i can get to make it easier for the DIY community.
Thanks to this and all the other videos on repairing this problem. But I had the Accord Value Package which is mostly non-electric everything. But the previous owner had added aftermarket electric door locks. They were not very well connected. Now three locks are working ok. The drivers side lock I removed because you can only lock the door when the door is closed, as not to leave the key inside. I ordered the parts before looking inside the door panels. Now I have two actuators that will try to sell on-line. At least now I can lock the car and not leave it unlocked on the street. Thanks.
Glad the video helped. And honestly, if you've already gone as far as this for fixing the locks, the door handle can be completely replaced by just a little more work on the inside of the door. If you would find it useful, I'd be happy to make a video about it. I've still got one of that generation of accord laying about I could do a quick handle swap on. Or a DIY on rebuilding a handle with a few hardware store parts.
On my Accord, all I had to do is open the actuator because I could hear the motor work and inner circular spring was stuck. Rearranged and greased everything with lithium grease and started working again without any issues.
David, I dont believe they do. Most Honda coupe variants use a different style then this because the window is so much heavier. I'm not sure if it changed after this gen (98 to 2002) but in this gen the coupe has a toothed gear arm with rollers in slide channels. Very similar to the toyota style.
@@davidsantos9988 I apologize. I was responding to your comment/question with a different video in mind. About window regulators. Actuators for the 98 to 02 accord were all the same for every body type. Except for the sedan, which gets it's own special right and left rear part number. But the front left and right are the same for: coupe, 5 door, hatchback, sedan. Cody, i have not personally dealt with fixing that kind of problem by doing this, but i would hazard a guess it might be what needs to happen. The issue with these lock actuators is that they were built out of lower quality internal metallic pieces, so when moisture enters the mechanisms they rust out the parts and the electrical contacts. So either it needed to be higher quality materials, or just better sealed to prevent moisture inside. I would suggest replacing just one of the actuators you are having this issue with and see if it fixes the problem. But the other possible issue is the DRIVER lock control or actuator. These older systems were designed with the wiring to run through both the Driver door lock control and actuator as the "master" controller, meaning if that one is malfunctioning it affects all of them. This can easily be seen by simply disconnecting either of those components in the driver door and try to use any of the other three doors lock controls.
@@11fulstrum thanks for the reply. Yeah my car randomly does it even while it’s parked and it’s set the alarm off on it twice. So you think just try changing the driver door actuator and see if that fixes the issue?
If you use the key fob or the door lock switch on the driver door or passenger door to lock/unlock the doors and one or more doors don't respond. Or barely respond. This is most likely the issue. I've replaced dozens of these in the 98 to 02 accords now. It's always the problem. If the door is unlocked and the handle won't open the door that's a whole different problem. If that is indeed your problem let me know and we can figure it out. There's very few things that could be wrong that would prevent either handle from opening the door is unlocked
@@kangokidkidd4037 yes. There is an actuator in each door if you have electronic locks. The only model that didn't is the DX which had all manual locks. I'm glad you got your door open. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance on your car needs. I'm happy to help
John, i may not have, but its been awhile since ive reviewed this repair. Usually if the window guide bars get in my way, on Honda's at least, i just take out the bolt in the door frame at the bottom for the guide and push it aside, or if need be, i just pull the whole guide and put it back in after. I do believe i cover that process in one of my other Honda windows videos, as all the 1990s and 2000s honda windows are almost all mounted the same way.
The most clear and informative video if you have tunnel vision and can only see out of one eye.
