I love how down to earth you are about using samples and presets from libraries - I hate the mindset that everything has to be 100% original. Honestly I wouldn't have guessed from listening to the track, it sounds so signature for you it shows how you can create a signature sound even from presets and samples. Love ya ray ♥
i'm all for em when it comes to synths, i create all of my basses/my 'sound design' is all me though. i'm pretty vocal about that and am honestly pretty against using other people's basses and such. i think that's super important. but i can't stand people that are super strict on creating your own drums and literally everything
@@rayvolpe yeah i understand that completely - with dubstep especially a signature bass sound is almost essential. it's just good to see someone that doesn't slag off anyone that doesn't make everything 100% from scratch - i had that mindset a few years ago and it nearly turned me away from production because of how hard it is to get started
Not sure if he's intended this for music theory. Just experiment or learn music theory behind these chords. Pretty sure there's a web showing the name of each chord. Find the intervals between each note or do your own thing, idk
your sounds are a lot omre raw than i would have guessed. with Melodic Dubstep i've noticed it really comes down to your mixing and theory, everything else (sound design) really seems to fall into place
dude honestly your tutorials are great. ive also watched almost all of your livestreams that i can find. please continue on this so producer noobs like me can progress. thanks come again=D
I was gonna comment in the beginning where the heck your sub was for the saw chord stacks because I heard it in the intro of the video thinking this dude didn't add a sub and made a banger. Then 21:38 comes along and you mentioned the sub and I was there it is. Dope breakdown bruh!
Great Track Breakdown, would definitely like to see more in the future. I really like how you don't do a lot of unnecessary EQing. The most important thing is to just get sounds that work well with each other so that you don't have to mess around with them to get them to fit later
I'm sooooo Addicted to this song i really love it ,thank U for making this song,it have one of the most beautiful intro i'v ever heard thx again please keep doing songs like this with amazing intros like U did here, wish U luck dude :)
21:19 that’s skrillex’s signature cymbal (but more distorted because he puts effects on his to sound cleaner)... I have both versions and they’re great fucking fillers/intro hits.
You can clean up all those side chain midi tracks by using an instrument rack with an Ableton external instrument on it. For every instance of Volume Shaper you have create a new chain in the rack with a new Ableton external instrument on it and send the midi out there instead. It will mean you only have one midi clip controlling all the Volume shapers and will save you loads of time and headache if you want to change the drums (and it looks nicer in the project).
ok this was informative, inspiring and hilarious thank you volpee boi' also, did you intend for the square saw boop to sound like a heartrate monitor bc it sound like it. made me think of hearts, love, etc
"Obviously, I have no idea what I'm doing." and yet you've managed to create a grand killer of a Dubstep song nonetheless. I'd call that at least being able to pretend that you know what you're doing, which I think is the key to electronic music production. Seriously, you've made it onto Monstercat by now!
THANKS MAN !!!! so fucking amazing! you are my inspiration btw good trick to use reverb on the sub, i'm are getiing now much better mixes! Hello from spain! I will love all your tutorials!!!
Whatever works and sounds good to you, I've always said it...I'm not an expert at working on Ableton but if my shit sounds good when I test it on my laptop speakers, car, shitty 90's pc speakers, iPhone whatever..it's good. Nobody knows or can judge your process until you show it to them lmao
This is awesome, I laughed way too many times at this! BTW RAY, you can automate the channel "On and Off" feature for the no tail effect.
thanks dude !! miss you - also, i know! i'm just THAT lazy lol
Madman with the reverb on the sub

Love the new vid Ray! can you "teach us" how to make those type of chords? like the music theory behind it :)
Polariz3 open your piano roll, click in notes until you find ones you like.
Search Michael new channel for music theory bro really cool and easy to learn from

Bro, how do you not have more subs lol? You are as good as Skrillex. Subbed!
This is one of my favorite dubstep songs. Keep it up brother!!!!!

your sounds are a lot omre raw than i would have guessed. with Melodic Dubstep i've noticed it really comes down to your mixing and theory, everything else (sound design) really seems to fall into place

Ray you are amazing! If i were a screenwriter i'd write a sci-fi film about a robot and this would be the title track on the soundtrack!
