I have been making this without the poppy seeds. I have also seen the cashews being added by some chefs. Do poppy seeds really make a big difference? Let me try adding it next time. Also, your English is extremely good. Thank you Shettre...
Your feedback means the world to me! 🙏 Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and experiences. Experimenting with ingredients can definitely add new dimensions to your dish! Cashews can indeed contribute to a rich and creamy texture in the dish. I have seen the difference. Poppy seeds bring a unique flavor and texture, thus enhancing the overall taste. Give it a try and see how it transforms your recipe! 😊 Once again thank you for your feedback!
Legend is true. The owner of Shetty lunch Home ,Mrs.Shetty made this recipe for the first time in her restaurant appx 50 yrs ago.Today her recipe is legendary. And No curry leaves please..its not an andhra recipe.its kundapura ghee rst. And in Kundapura, Udupi, Mangalore region, curry leaves is added to fish curry ..not to any aunthetic chicken recipes of these region. Also pl skip curd and fennel. btw, don't know why people call it Mangalore ghee roast.. Probably because of its more well known name than kundapura!!
I understand your hesitation! The combination of jaggery and tamarind might sound unusual, but it creates a beautiful balance of sweet and tangy flavors that complement the spices and rich ghee in the Mangalorean Chicken Ghee Roast. The recipe uses very small amounts of tamarind and jaggery, so the flavors will not be overpowering. Instead, they add a subtle balance that enhances the overall taste. Just be sure not to overdo it. Many people who were initially unsure have ended up loving it. Give it a shot-you might be pleasantly surprised! And if you do, I'd love to hear how it turns out for you. Happy cooking!
Thank you! I understand your concern. Since it's a Ghee Roast, the ghee is essential for the authentic flavor. However, this is a rich dish that's meant to be enjoyed occasionally, so indulging in it once in a while can be a delightful treat. Enjoy!

I want to try this recipe, but imaging sweet(jaggery) and sourness (tamarind ) In chicken curry, I could not dare to do it.

Looks yummy but can't afford to consume so much of ghee😊
Thank you! I understand your concern. Since it's a Ghee Roast, the ghee is essential for the authentic flavor. However, this is a rich dish that's meant to be enjoyed occasionally, so indulging in it once in a while can be a delightful treat. Enjoy!
