I am on my period and I felt the need to tell you haw much this calmed me. My tortoise Charlie hurt her leg and I have been sobbing all day whilst applying ointment to her leg. She will be fine, I have to chill and your sunflower trousers helped a lot with that. Thankyou so much
I don’t know why you don’t have your own book/literature show on tv/radio. Thanks for doing this for books that would not get the publicity they deserve at present.📚👍👋☘️🦋
Ahh! I burst out into "Siyahamba/We Are Marching in the Light of God" all the time! We sang it in my grade school choir, and it's still in my brain decades later.
Loved this Leena. Please do that preordering video. I’ve still not finished Escape Routes, but I’m on it. My Husband Simon, I might have to get that for Chris. I’m very excited for How To Belong. Definitely want a sequel.
Outpost and How to Belong sound so great and I screamed ah! when you read the description of Charlotte. Must have! That sounds so good. So looking forward to Elizabeth Acevedo's book too, because I just feel so seen by her writing.
Am actually reading The Flatshare because of your recommendation and I love how your book recommendations come from different genres so I open myself up a variety of books :)!
YES. I will need more of this, please. Your book recommendations are all I need to know if I want to read a book or not (concision + enthusiasum + curiosity = exactly what I need) And I just looked at a couple of the British Library ones, and wow, they all look FANTASTIC. Plu,s the covers are very pretty, and that means I'm just going to have to buy all of them. Thank you.
I love when you recommend books! Most of the time it's books I haven't even heard of. I read The switch and LOVED IT SO MUCH. The grandma was my favorite character, she's a badass.
I swear everytime I watch one of your videos it sparks gift ideas in me. For almost all the books I had someone in mind that I think would enjoy/find use out of it. Please continue with these book reccomendations because you do it so well 📙💜
Your videos always make me excited for when I'm able to order books online, there's so many out there that sound amazing that I never would have found otherwise!
Hi Leena! Thanks so much for all the great book recommendations. I love hearing about new books that I've never encountered before. I get so excited. I know in this video you briefly mentioned the power of pre-ordering to support authors and publishers. I would love it if you could make a video explaining this further and also just what are the best ways to support specific authors, like where should you buy their books from which is something i often find a bit confusing. This is a topic I have recently become more interested in as my eyes have been opened to how small my perspective of the world is because I haven't been exposed to diverse voices, namely those of any group marginalized because of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, and so on. I would love to learn the best ways to support any authors in these groups creating works and I know you would have some great insight on this. Thanks for everything you make for us Leena! You truly make my day brighter when I watch your videos.
Omg when you said we were in the home stretch and then pulled out a stack of books as big as a baby. (But you know I'm all for it yes please to a part two.)
Joe dunthorne came to do a reading at my uni about two years ago when he was in the process of writing adulterants and told us about the premise and I’ve been intrigued ever since. Can’t wait to read it!
Hi! I'm currently reading a book my Mona Chollet called Sorcières, la puissance invaincue des femmes, which apparently will be issued in English in 2021. It's about the witch-hunts and their heritage today. I also started reading Ready Player One upon your recommendation. And re-reading all the Uncle Scrooge's youth comics by Don Rosa. I want to read every single book you recommended!
I've never heard anyone talk about The Adulterants. I read Submarine and thought it was hilarious but was not sure his second book would live up to the first so hadn't picked up The Adulterants - definitely will check it out now!
great vid, as always. also, after watching your normal people video and hence binging the series the past 2 days i even decided to order the book (@the local bookshop ofc) to read AFTER watching the series because i have never seen such a good representation of our generetion (as i see it) and our way to deal with intimacy and relationships that i had to enjoy that feeling for longer! Thank you leena for working magic and bringing me to buy the book after watching its adaption, its a first.
First, as you stress the beautiful background I want to point out that your ususal backdrop of red armchair + bookshelf is equally aesthetically pleasing. Second, I loved Beth O'Leary' "The Switch" (as well as "The Flatshare"). It was the perfect escapism for this time (Though I would probably loved it as much at any given time.) and I devoured it within 24 hours. The only downside is that it wasn't longer. I cannot wait for her next novel. Third, thank you for all the brilliant recommendations. Your enthusiam sold all the books to me. Now, I need to figure out which books I want to get most urgently. Though, I probably should finish the pile of books I've aleady have first.
Haven’t gotten to the book part of this video yet (though I am sure it will be great when I get there!) but just wanted to say, oh my gosh I loooovvvee your outfit!
Reading hibernation is a good quarantine rebrand. Thanks for doing this. I’ve been keeping an eye on Losing Eden (narrative nature is my catnip) and No Modernism Without Lesbians (so here for it). Paris Review has a periodic feature on feminizing the canon that highlights a forgotten woman and her book(s). Learned about Cora Sandel from it.
You had a lot of feminists texts there but not Difficult Women by Helen Lewis. It's a (British) feminist history, talking about the intersectional fights that don't normally get mentioned when discussing Thatcher or the suffragettes. And introduced me to whole range of role models who I can identify with much more readily than the Pankhursts. It's so good & important that as well as the Audible copy for myself, I've also bought a hard copy to lend to people.
I've been in a reading slump for most of quarantine so far, but I started the overstory now and OH MY GOD. Thank you a million for recommending that. The whale story sounds like it could be a good follow up :)
And here I thought I already bought too many new releases in April and will give it a rest for a while... Oh well. I just finished My Year of Rest and Relaxation and now I feel like I'm ready for some long drug induced sleep. Btw I've got dress with the exact same sunflower pattern that my mother bought twenty-something years ago. I love the pattern so much!
I love your recommendations! I truly have no business buying any more books since my TBR pile is as tall as my house and I've already ordered 4 since the quarantine started but whatever I clearly need more and literature is an investment in a better future me so this is fine lol
Is my TBR ready to get even longer after watching this video? Will my TBR beg me to stop watching Leena’s videos ‘cause it can’t take this anymore? Probably, but we don’t care ! So excited for this
Leena, have you read Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer? Just feel it could really resonate with you for a rallying cry/ narrative nature writing read. It's a really beautiful, radical read by an indigenous person who is also a biology professor in New York. Really changed the way I think about EVERYTHING
I would guess pre-orders help determine how big the first print run is but really no idea. I would definitely be interested in a video about the importance of pre-orders though
I definetly am interested in some of the books you were talking about and I might have just found a birthdaypresent for a good friend in "Charlotte" :D
I'm 28 but I want to be you when I grow up
Kelsey, you took the words right out of my heart
I’m 27 and same!!
That made me laugh out loud omg 😂😂😂
I'm 19 and same
So do I, and I am 53!
This outfit is just so happy
More of this please. Your dedication to publishing and books in general makes me so happy.
I am on my period and I felt the need to tell you haw much this calmed me. My tortoise Charlie hurt her leg and I have been sobbing all day whilst applying ointment to her leg. She will be fine, I have to chill and your sunflower trousers helped a lot with that. Thankyou so much
Sending you and Charlie lots of love 😘
Sending you and Charlie lots of love 😘

Hey Leena, Just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy the newsletter. Thanks!
Loved this Leena. Please do that preordering video. I’ve still not finished Escape Routes, but I’m on it. My Husband Simon, I might have to get that for Chris. I’m very excited for How To Belong. Definitely want a sequel.
I’m obsessed with your outfit! Xxx
Thank you for the recomendations. Beautiful background!

Outpost and How to Belong sound so great and I screamed ah! when you read the description of Charlotte. Must have! That sounds so good. So looking forward to Elizabeth Acevedo's book too, because I just feel so seen by her writing.
I adore your Lucy and yaks!!! I didnt manage to nab them before my size sold out
Am actually reading The Flatshare because of your recommendation and I love how your book recommendations come from different genres so I open myself up a variety of books :)!

A video on the importance of pre-ordering would be great!
Yes! Please do a whole video on pre-orders!
A video on pre-ordering would be amazing. I’m always so fascinated by your perspective re: the publishing industry. Thank you for this video!!
More of this please, algorithm!! I’d love to see a video about the benefits of pre-ordering too!
Thanks for doing this!!!! It's not quite like browsing the shelves but it comes pretty damn close, thank you thank you thank you
I swear everytime I watch one of your videos it sparks gift ideas in me.
For almost all the books I had someone in mind that I think would enjoy/find use out of it. Please continue with these book reccomendations because you do it so well 📙💜
Thank you for this video, and the work you do to support writers! Also, would love the video on pre-orders.
Always love your raccomandations Leena! Thank you very much. Fathoms definitely sounds like a very interesting book
would love to see the video on preordering and a second video of new reads if this continues! Also I need that book on Charlotte
would love to watch the pre order video!
Please can we have more of your bookshelf tour?
Your thumbnails are just getting more and more spicy as time goes on. I'm so here for it.
hahah thank you!
Added all the ones I want to get on goodreads. So I’ll be sure to support the community through these tough times!!!
Love the honorary Scottish mention! 💘🏴
Leena! Just finished watching Normal People A SECOND TIME from your recommendation. It’s absolute perfection.
I just did a big book order but I need to read Charlotte and This Green and Pleasant Land asap they sound SO up my street!
Love your dungarees! I'm a new subscriber but really enjoying your vids and book recommendations - thanks Leena.
So excited for the book from the perspective of Charlotte Lucas - definitely a mindset that’s difficult to understand from our contemporary lens
Your videos always make me excited for when I'm able to order books online, there's so many out there that sound amazing that I never would have found otherwise!
This is such a nice thing for you to have done!
Yes please! Would LOVE to see more videos like this 💕💕
So good, would definitely watch a video about why preordering is important too
Have scheduled a reminder... looking forward to this

Desperate to read Charlotte! This sounds ace.
I'm currently This Green and Pleasant Land from your recommendation last year! 30% in and really enjoying it!
This background is very pleasing 👌🌱
Bought Five Rules for Rebellion JUST NOW on Kindle... Thank you for the tip! Hoping for an Audible version SOON!! :-)
Really loving these kind of recommendations, sometimes it's hard to know what is out there in void of the book world. 📚😃
WHY DIDN'T I KNOW ABOUT THE MODERNISM AND LESBIAN ONE THAT WAS LITERALLY MY ESSAY
I don't know but I will fully lend it to you x

Also just pre-ordered Kat´s book on Audible. Sounds like a fun read/listen! Now, please tell us more about the importance of pre-ordering! :-)
Thank you Leena! That was everything I needed.
I loved this video already and then you said everything about Scotland and I loved this and you more Hahahahah ❤️
Oh no, I want them all!
I love your recommendations! I truly have no business buying any more books since my TBR pile is as tall as my house and I've already ordered 4 since the quarantine started but whatever I clearly need more and literature is an investment in a better future me so this is fine lol
The look tho, every dam vid I'm pleased. Best dressed booktuber.
Charlotte sounds like just what I need to read right now.
Is my TBR ready to get even longer after watching this video? Will my TBR beg me to stop watching Leena’s videos ‘cause it can’t take this anymore? Probably, but we don’t care ! So excited for this
same here
Love this Leena!! Thank you :)
Where is your jumpsuit from??? It's wonderful!! Love this video too!!
Yes please to all of this constructive, activist non-fiction! Also to sunflower dungarees, which are joyous🌻🌻🌻
Loved watching this video. It’s what I needed, Leena!

The audiobook for The Switch is narrated by Daisy Edgar Jones too !! 😉🥰❤️ Had to tell you incase you hadn't seen❤️
*opens GoodReads to follow along and add countless books to my To Read list*
I totally laugh outloud, gurl!
Loved this, needed more releases to look forward to than the new hunger games prequel. Thanks
Hey Leena! Any idea if there exists a booksellers thing but for the US? I am looking for online shopping alternatives to Amazon basically.
Leena - have you read Shantaram. I think you would love it.
You so remind me of hannah Witton. Love the dungarees!!!
All I need in life is Leena telling me about books to read and I'll be happy.
Added lots of these to my goodreads (:
Awesome! Please make part 2! :D
I laugh out loud at books all the time. Hehe
omg leena i have to wait twooo full days. the bell has been clicked. i'll just be here staring at my screen until friday i guess
