    There is middle ground - there was anomalous Deavite Empire, but not as powerful as Thomas Bruce wanted it. And it fallen due to slave rebellion. There was cult of Scarlet King but it was limited to really higher ups of Empire and was secret. There was some anomalous tech in use, but not on mass scale. So actual-actual history was not as creazy and brutal as Thomas Bruce wanted, but also not as peaceful as it come out in the end.

      That's actually pretty good.
      Now all we need is Ion's story. He lead a slave rebellion in the original canon, leading to the fall of the Daevites, but the rise of Sarkicism....

      I don't buy the idea of him creating most known SCPs in the blink of an eye, or with pen and paper. Middle ground is good. Sarkists know their history. That's it.
      Ion himself was the son of a Daeva. A Daeva! He earned a place in that history with blood. I ain't taking it away for some Aesop.

    • @The0Stroy
      @The0Stroy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Another idea - Daeva were potent reality benders, and created Thomas Bruce in future to actively move themselves into fiction/parallel reality to safe themselves from rebellion of Sarkicists? Also Daevastan, is "shadow" or "stepping stone" for real Daevas to return to reality - even if it is not Daevite empire. But that area can soon get nasty for Foundation and groups of reality benders will show up all over the place.

      @DEEPFOXJUDE Much of the former Soviet Union comes to mind; Russia has a former gangster as its official president, and criminal syndicates spawned by the Soviet union exist in sufficient strength that they're probably running several entire towns as fronts for prostitution and the like. Various Islamic states also tolerate similar activities to varying degrees, especially when the victimizers are Muslim and the victims are not. In the US, Detroit and Chicago are pretty close to this level of urban decay. The entire Narco culture in Mexico and the Colombian cartels, also. And of course, these are only the examples I've heard about; the really bad places probably remain unknown to the global media, either because they're being intentionally suppressed to prevent people from losing faith in the world's governments, or simply because whatever mafias are running the place have managed to keep it under wraps. The point is, the Daeva are an exaggerration of things that really happen, not a completely fantastical thing.

      @DEEPFOXJUDE I'm sorry. Your question needs a far more thorough explanation:
      The Scarlet King isn't an ideal,in this version. He is the representative of the conflict between two ideals, the Law of Blood and the Law of Concrete. He is very much an existing being, but he exists outside the reaches of our current reality, and cannot currently enter it. Thus,he needs to be empowered in order to do so. The Foundation, through it's study and attempts to explain the anamolous and the rituals behind it as well as prevent or use them, ironically does exactly that.
      How does this fit with his mythical origin story?
      Not really, but some interpretation can help. At the very least,he's a god of contradiction and anomalies.

    It was actually so cool when this connected the Daevites with the Cain and Abel SCPs. I'd really like to see more SCPs that build on unsolved mythology or religion AND more SCPs that connect to stuff like that. Also, the Daevites share similarity to the Proto-Indo-Europeans, so I hope an SCP comes out that builds on that, considering their word for "ruling-class" or "divine" comes from the Proto-Indo-Iranian word for "God".
    So, the changes of SCP-6140 ARE the true timeline, and it deviated when Thomas Bruce had the ritual conducted to adapt history to his writings, which was what our prior knowledge was (the timeline where we have SCPs 073 and 076 as Cain and Abel), but now we know that it is actually a changed timeline.

    I remember listening to your video on SCP 140 when walking to class two years ago, now I’m listening to this one while getting ready for work. Thanks for all the great content you’ve given us over the years.

    I came for an anomalous world war, but this is a welcome addition.
    My only question is what happened to the people already living in that area?

    Loved this entry! It’s spin on the Daevites is both a great commentary on how messed up Orientalism was and how it can (here, quite literally) bleed into the modern day, and a great potential conflict for the SCP Foundation in their efforts to preserve "normalcy," too!

    There’s needs to be a full on tale where the daevite empire returns in full force and a full on war breaks out between the foundation and other GOIs that the foundation has asked them to help out before. Maybe the chaos insurgency can put their differences down with the goc and the foundation to fight the daevite empire in its full force. That has to be the most epic tale I ever came up with.
