  • This will show you almost everything your Kestrel does. It's so much more than just a weather meter and digital data chart.
    Thanks to Larry from Ridgeline for taking time to walk us through all of this information.

    Thanks again Jimmy, Larry, and Ridgeline, this stuff is amazing! I shot out to 300 yards for the first time and noticed that the bullet was dropping and moving to the side with the wind, so now I’m buying a Kestrel and watching an hour long masterclass. An amazing channel that is providing value at every step of the journey into long range shooting!

      @@jimmybrodriguez for real. I was regretting the purchase tbh. This was a big help. Used it this past weekend. I think my favorite is the speed drop and quick wind.

    Is the bouncing knee as the background to the kestral a test to see if one stay focused during a info dump? I am considering purchashing a 5700 Elite. There seem to be a lot of videos explaing buttons and screens but I, having never used one would like a macro view about what will this tool do for you and what it won't do your you once you learn how to use it. Then on to the screen and buttons. - Just a suggestion.

    Is there a way to account for atmospheric conditions/ wind when you get your 100 yard zero? So if you zeroed your rifle in high winds and a low density altitude, you would be able to shoot in different conditions at longer range.

    • @richardrisner3635
      @richardrisner3635 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you have to re zero your rifle no matter what when you change conditions like that.
      As for altitude etc… you will re tune the data to reflect the changed conditions in your kestrel and the drop tables will adjust accordingly. You will still have to retune muzzle velocity as well.

    • @mattbentley8958
      @mattbentley8958 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @richardrisner3635 the applied ballistics app allows you to enter atmospheric conditions for your 100 yard zero and take that into account when conditions change. Combine that with a temperature stable powder and tested temperature velocity numbers, and you should be very close if not right on in different conditions. Where I shoot the temperatures can fluctuate nearly 40 degrees throughout the day.

    Question: I see people spin these things in the air using the lanyard. Is there a reason to do that?

    • @scarsman
      @scarsman 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That speeds up the temperature reading. Holding it in your hand can affect the reading from your body temp, or if you had it in a pocket, or sitting in the sun, it can be off. Spinning it around is running ambient air by the sensor to quickly get it to true temp.

    I have a good question.. One thing thats undeniable is technology is advancing and the way of the future,, Also advancing is the technology to spot or track certain things.. Anyone thats been in the military knows a little about what the eyes in the sky are capable of. Even military grade range finders or anything that lazes a target is like strapping a sign to your backside. I-phones are notoriously bad if you are in a hide,,, even when they are off.. Is the Kestrel susceptible to the eyes in the sky given it has Bluetooth/link,, even if the feature is turned off? Or is it constantly pinging to try and link to something that could be bad for your health?

    • @jimmybrodriguez
      @jimmybrodriguez  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Excellent question, I don't have a definitive answer, but I imagine its not pinging if you turn it off and if it was the bluetooth would have to relatively close unlike internet enabled devices.
