Man this was one of my favorite DDR tracks. I was never much into doing tricks while playing, but I could face away from the screen and nail the gallops perfectly on this song.
You'd be surprised. Check out the steps for "In the Navy" which was in DDR 3rd mix for the grand daddy of all gallop steps. "Luv 2 Me" from the same mix also had a variation of it. In terms of just using 1/32 arrows, many songs in 2nd mix had them too, most notable being "I Believe in Miracles". Such a fun chart to play. FYI I'm only referring to maniac charts here.
Fuck this shit was so fun. Tried it the first time in YEARS at the arcade and I could only go halfway before falling out of breath 🤣 still got that muscle memory though!
The background video... every time... the ponytail swinging in the air hahaha! I can never AAA it because of that. Even just hearing this song I can see the hair spinning... HAHAHA!
+Steven Jacobson back when i was a kid i used to watch a guy do this song on heavy all the time and he galloped this part. Its what made the song memorable to me actually. That and the fact that it confused me why the name started with ts.
Although the comments on this are a bit dated I just wanted to say this was my favorite song to play out of all the songs in DDR. I think I hold it dear because it was the first "difficult" heavy song I was able to play really well. I understand in the grand scheme of things, this song isn't super hard... but hard enough when I just started playing heavy lol.
i remember this was the one song on heavy mode that for some reason i could only get a C or a B on.....that shit is literally like jumping in a pool. your dry, then your in the air, and then your wet and your eyes are stinging and you have those blisters on your toes XD makes me want to play this game again tho
Feeling like an idiot now that I know those two men's silhouettes aren't wielding katana -__- But when I was little, you can damn well bet I thought they were. 😂
In Fascination MAXX, all the arrows at the end are like 32nd and 64th arrows or something, but only for syncing(it's still like playing with normal 4th/8th arrows) Also has 24th arrows.
They're programmed in there for other songs, but their not as noticeable since their not in a gallop formation. Can' name any of the top of my head, but there are some songs with it.
The song is called Tsugaru. This is the name of a place in Japan. The instrument they are holding is called The instrument they have is called "SYAMISEN". It is a three-stringed instrument.
On the newer DDR mixes from DDR X to present the 16th note gallop section at 0:52 are now 12th notes to keep it more in sync, the 32nd gallops stayed though. The gallop section at the near end of the song is unaltered though. Oh and at 1:09 - 1:14 it's way easier to time on the DDR X - present version of Tsugaru since they're now properly synced at 12th notes
I don't care how old this is, it still brings back memories of me and my brother dancing our asses off to this shit. I'll never stop loving this game.
I got exhausted just WATCHING this. Such good times!
Great times man, great times....
the original sweaty game.
Apple mix is so much easier
I used to be a DDR dancer like you too, but then I took a "got old" in the knee.
NinjaOnANinja oh don't worry, there's no way I could do this anymore either lol
On the PS2 DDR games my sister and I cheated and just used the controller to play instead of dancing on the mat.
@@inufreak483 I still can and Im a 28 year old guy (I did this when I was 20)
I'm 31 and I can beat max 300. You're never too old.
x2 my poor knee and 20kg more on me stop me of doing this now days but I hope I can do it on a distant future haha
I miss this game sooooo much. It brings back a lot of awesome college memories 2003-2004 T_T
Man this was one of my favorite DDR tracks. I was never much into doing tricks while playing, but I could face away from the screen and nail the gallops perfectly on this song.
Can never get tried of seeing fantastic ddr play.

The song that taught me galloping.
Love this song
Do you gallop in real life just for fun?
I remember getting a double A on this a couple years ago at an arcade in PA. Only my 2nd song i passed on Heavy. This song has got to be my favorite
Where in PA?
I still get this stuck in my head regularly.... Holy crap.
I could never keep a combo going on this song. Love the music though.
Matt C Those skip jumps and crossovers were my specialty. Loved this song... but was so exhausting.
Its actually not a hard song, just need to gallop to the pace you'll do fine.
Good job. This song kicked my ass on heavy mode
I LOVE to do this song! Once you get into skipping mode you're golden, like "In The Navy", I find this one to be alot of fun.
1:22 This. Right here. Forget the gallops. FUCK this part, in particular. Crossover hell.
FUCK THAT STEP!! i never learned how to do thaaat really good memories
Fuck this shit was so fun. Tried it the first time in YEARS at the arcade and I could only go halfway before falling out of breath 🤣 still got that muscle memory though!
this was the first heavy song I learned. Hell I could do this song before I could do Daikenenkai on standard... good times
I love the skipping, so fun to tap on my numpad. And good job, not a terribly easy song!
Man this was my first heavy song to beat... i miss this game
The background video... every time... the ponytail swinging in the air hahaha! I can never AAA it because of that. Even just hearing this song I can see the hair spinning... HAHAHA!
This was one of my favorite dances
this song is so much fun to play on heavy.. it's like constant hopping :D
that slow motion jump at the end we all did cx
This stresses me out just to watch it. Great job!
this song goes hard af
am i the only one who calls those srteps starting at :52 a gallop?
+Steven Jacobson thats what i call them too always known them as that
+Steven Jacobson theyre a total gallop
+Steven Jacobson back when i was a kid i used to watch a guy do this song on heavy all the time and he galloped this part. Its what made the song memorable to me actually. That and the fact that it confused me why the name started with ts.
naw i did too im those half beat step i alway think of galloping
Among the DDR community that is exactly what those patterns are called.
Whoa! Took me back to my middle school days
Nostalgia to the max
This was my favoriite song. Next to Exotic Ethnic
Although the comments on this are a bit dated I just wanted to say this was my favorite song to play out of all the songs in DDR. I think I hold it dear because it was the first "difficult" heavy song I was able to play really well. I understand in the grand scheme of things, this song isn't super hard... but hard enough when I just started playing heavy lol.
i think "so deep" is the ddr song that has more galloping of them all.
That or in the navy
This is making me want to take my ddr mat out now. I wish i wasn't so lazy.
Here I am just wishing I could go back to the days of high school..
I love this so much.
i remember this was the one song on heavy mode that for some reason i could only get a C or a B on.....that shit is literally like jumping in a pool. your dry, then your in the air, and then your wet and your eyes are stinging and you have those blisters on your toes XD makes me want to play this game again tho
ohh mannn totally forgot about this song
Feeling like an idiot now that I know those two men's silhouettes aren't wielding katana -__- But when I was little, you can damn well bet I thought they were. 😂
WTF SHAHAHA YOU JUST MADE ME REALISE THAT GOD DAMN N I've been lied to my whole life
They look like they are wielding telephone poles :D
unknowndeoxys00 I think they're shamisens
Those are very clearly shamisens/taiko. The song is still supposed to represent them dueling though.
It's also on DDR Extreme. This and the version APPLEMIX
In Fascination MAXX, all the arrows at the end are like 32nd and 64th arrows or something, but only for syncing(it's still like playing with normal 4th/8th arrows) Also has 24th arrows.
it's hard to remember how it happened, but one day I learned how to gallop and it was to this song.
pure nostalgia
Love playing this in the arcades...... people see the jumble of arrows and then they see how to do them: you gallop XD
There's 7 games before DDR Extreme (1st mix - Max 2).
They're programmed in there for other songs, but their not as noticeable since their not in a gallop formation. Can' name any of the top of my head, but there are some songs with it.
My fellow millennials! We had it good
I couldn't do these ages ago but then I did them and completed nearly all the songs... I couldn't get 'Healing Vision'.
haha did anyone else do the bunny hop on that one part...hilarious. love this song
There's no shop that sell this cd again... my dear ps2 ddrmax 2 are broken idk why😭😭
So sassy , th fakeout with the E at the end. This video once inspired me to spend like 200$ to play DDR again and buy a really nice pad.
it is also on supernova
これ矢印倍速にしてないと、同時押しか変則リズムか、見分けつかない所があるんだよな。
My favorite songs are ones that have galloping sections.
is this the original ddr i cant remember i dont remember this song looking that hard xD
I would pay real adult money for a new DDR
Cowgirl is where I learned the gallop on. Which meant the "HARD" part on this was actually easy for me... the rest was a pain though
MADNESS!
Also DDR Extreme(PS2), and DDR for the PS3.
PS3 has Apple Mix though. The first DDR Ultramix on Xbox has this too
Nostalgia
@inufreak are you from PA? When I worked at an arcade in York PA there was a DDR player nicknamed INU, just curious if you are him
Stepmania 3.9 is the real deal
Still sounds dope
actually this version is available on DDR 4th mix
No Tsugaru is from DDRMAX 2
Isn't the original version of the song (not the remix) by yoshida brothers?
And that doesn't even include the Plus mixes. :x
This is my dads favorite one to play
What is the instrument played in this song?
Sorry I'm late on the reply, but it's called a Shamisen!
lol great song though
SFSA! (518 area code team)

Who wants my DDR copy and DDR2? Sorry not for sale. Lol
gallops in this song were fun to play!
Those are 16ths, NOT jumps!!!
Hence the gallops ;)
On the newer DDR mixes from DDR X to present the 16th note gallop section at 0:52 are now 12th notes to keep it more in sync, the 32nd gallops stayed though.
