I will never understand why Fogerty didn't think this set wasn't good enough to be in the movie, or on the soundtrack. This is easily one of the best sets performed at Woodstock.

I've read that John Fogerty was a real perfectionist -- an attitude that might have led to the breakup of the band a few years later. That might have been a factor.

@@TheIsreal0312 The fans of CCR aren't the only ones who strongly feel that this performance should've been included in both the film and the soundtrack. Even Pete Townsend said CCR's performance was his favorite from the entire weekend of Woodstock. I think one of the reasons John Fogerty wasn't pleased with this performance was because even though they were slated to perform earlier in the evening, countless delays forced them to be unable to take the stage until around 12:45am. Adding to the whole thing, The Grateful Dead played their set right before CCR, and they were so f-ed up off acid, that they didn't even notice that during almost their entire performance, there were serious issues with a number of things. First of all, the heavy rains forced the band to take long breaks between songs because their sound guy feared they ran the risk of getting shocked. Not to mention, by the time they got to their final song of the night, they turned it into a jam session that also took way too long. Plus, they played quite poorly overall which caused the audience to become disinterested, and tired. (These are many of the reasons why The Dead are also not featured in the movie, and weren't heavily featured on the soundtrack until Woodstock's 40th anniversary release).😆 So, because of all the Dead's issues during their set, the crowd was mostly asleep by the time Credence came on. John Fogerty recalls the audience as being a mess of muddy bodies totally passed out over one another. He even considered not performing at all, except for one guy, way in the back of the crowd; holding up a lighter, and shouting "We're with you John". So for the entire set, he said the band played for that one guy.😆 Luckily their performance woke the crowd back up in time for The Who. But Fogerty, being the perfectionist he is, simply wasn't pleased with this performance. I can understand, but strongly disagree. I'm just glad that it can at least be found here.

Man the age of it is irrelevant, I’m about as old as the song while I admire recordings such as Tupac Shakur U Can’t C me. Most folks don’t know the real meaning to the song. Many probably don’t the other either. Keep on chooglin. It’s all about the written down on paper music, raw creativity. So it’s also not very intelligent to go putting barriers around yourself like many would do with those two different songs.

That is most definitely Woodstock. (Then again, there is a video of CCR doing "Bad Moon Rising" from Woodstock that is very, very poor.). Also, John refused to sign the release to allow their performance in the movie or original soundtrack album release. Said he felt it was "subpar". Ain't nothing "subpar" about this song, that's for sure. They are flat out ON it.

The grittinness in the sound of the guitar here, and the power of his voice and that harmonica solo, just sounds so much more driven and powerful than the studio version in my opinion. One of the best performances at woodstock, yet not as talked about. This blows Jimi's set out of the water i think too.

It is a damn shame these guys cannot make amends. So much talent here. The bitterness and what happened to them is sad.
