- The crowd at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary were booing the Star Spangled Banner before the NHL game between the Detroit Red Wings and the Calgary Flames.
It's assumed the booing is because of the tariffs, issued by President Donald Trump, that will be applied to all Canadian imports into the United States starting February 4, 2025.
This clip was captured from CBC Television/Sportsnet.
From now on, everyone should remain seated when the American anthem is played. ✌️🇨🇦

Its a shame they didnt play the American anthem during Toronto - Edmonton, that crowd was rowdy and would have gone crazy booing.

We Canadians are not disrespectful and we honour all anthems it's what separates us from Americans. The best thing we can do is stop buying American products and stand united as a Country now, tomorrow and from here on. America has made a fatal mistake and we will make them understand the importance of Canada. Why have national anthems in pro sports in the first place? Nobody else does this, to my knowledge, outside of North America. I'm not a fan of booing anthems, period. I'd rather stand quietly at attention for a perfunctory performance of theirs, and then sing ours at the top of our lungs. While the singer holds the mic in the air, like the torch we're meant to hold high. The bilingual version, preferably. "Car ton bras sait porter l'epee, il sait porter la croix!"

I felt so sate hearing that roar. We got fighters overhead! No worries go back to sleep little boy. My father was an LAC and would work on the weekend sometimes My brother and I would go with him. We would sit in the jets and pretend we we were in battle. Just dont touch anything!lol

In my town there has been no support for the anything the orange liar says. I have served in our forces and lived all over this great country during my life, coast to coast. People are too reactive. In 2003, Montreal booed the anthem, but it took the invasion of iraq. This is peanuts compared to that, but the reaction is much bigger.

I don't agree with booing their anthem. The team members are guests of Canada. Most teams have players from both countries as well as from abroad. At least let's respect the players and the sport we all love. Their anthem still represents the principles their nation, and Democracy itself, was founded on. Let's respect those principles and help Americans see the con they have fallen for.
