I like everything about this knife. I’ve got a decent cold steel collection, but I haven’t bought a Cold Steel knife since the company was sold. I think I want to add one of these to the collection. Thanks for the close look at it, buddy!
The more I watched, the more I liked this knife. For what I need, this steel is plenty good. I have a Cold Steel small fixed blade and love it! So nice for you to give these knives away. Good form!
I've never really thought about the cutting path with the thumb studs and holes being in the path til I started watching your videos great video man
I have had this in my cart SEVERAL times!! I keep going back and forth on the materials….does it really bother me..?? Do I really need better steel..?? 15 years ago I wouldn’t have given it a second thought….I LOVED the Cold Steel ProLite ….same materials 🤷🏼♂️ BUUUUUUT the AirLite is on Amazon for only a few dollars more, and I definitely prefer the materials on the Airlite
I hear you Jake! The pricing of the 4116 just doesnt make sense to me. Its not a bad steel but better steels at a better price just makes more sense.
@@BigRedEDC oh for sure…it’s not an awful steel. But you can still get a ProLite on a handful of sites for $29….same exact materials. So if we add on inflation, maybe the Verdict should be $35 or so. Otherwise I’d rather spend a bit more to get the AirLite…heck, at Christmas it was down to $47 on Amazon!! That’s a great purchase! Don’t get me wrong I really like the overall design of the Verdict since they loosely based it on the Code4…but at that price (which isn’t crazy out of the range) there are better options. Who knows, maybe around Christmas it will drop also…maybe hit that $35-ish area.
Handle material looks similar to that on a Bucklite. Haven't had a 4116 steel on a knife before. How bad could a Cold Steel be (I know that begs an answer haha)? All I have owned look menacing (Air Lite, Pro Lite). Thanks JB!
Pretty sure Buck uses GFN or similar materials on some the knives! Thanks Dave!
Cold Steel is still top dog when it comes to affordable hard use knives! I will always love them. I recently decided I'm getting a counter tac II boot knife.
Great blade review. I got the Appalachian Jack from Blue Creek, couldn’t believe the fit and finish as well as all the Swag you get for spending $33. I’ll definitely be ordering more from them. Thanks for spreading the knife love with your affiliate links and discount codes.
Weird seeing kitchen knife steel in a folder- but its Cold Steel they do thing different.
It light for a while I was looking for light knives now a heavier one is looking better.
Feels like a decent worker, wouldn't be afraid to beat it up, and seems like it would hold up to it too.
This is a much higher quality knife in hand than I expected. Other than my dislike for the non-neutral handle, it feels very Bugout-esque in size/profile and only about 0.5oz heavier for about the same size. If I didn’t know anything about knives, mechanisms, steels, brands, or downstream modification-and you blind tested me with this knife and a base model Bugout and asked me to infer quality-I’m pretty sure I’d say this knife. I had an unbiased/unknowledgeable kid say the same thing. If Cold Steel had put AUS10 (or 14c28n, Nitro-V) instead of the 4116 this knife would probably be a more popular Bugout alternative-it feels very solid and isn’t heavy. On sale, as Cold Steel knives can often be found, this is a compelling knife (especially since aftermarket scales aren’t available and this has no appreciable flex stock). Thank you very much JB!
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on the Verdict! Always appreciate hearing from you my friend!
I haven't played much attention to Cold Steel. Thanks for reviewing this one. It reminds me of one of the knives I had growing up. I loved that knife.
I will admit that I don't usually look at Cold Steel knives but this seems to interest me more than most of their knives do. Thanks for the review of an "affiliate" knife JB.
I have always enjoyed Cold Steel, the overbuilt aspect to most of their stuff makes me confident when using!
I think I’d be happier with a used/2nd hand Conspirator TBH for about the same money… I do love CS’ stonewashing
Interesting budget knife. I like it 4116 should be more affordable.
Have still never owned any of the big or full sized cold 🥶 steel knives 🔪. Some good some bad but look like great workers 👏 Thanks so much BigRed 👍
That's a nice looking blade, don't know much about the steel but like your said if it sharpens and cuts me likey lol
I like free , not big fan of handle maybe lines? Lol thought about engage also wasn’t sure bout steel and price tad high esp w premium steel version.
I do not have a Cold Steel, but that could change with this one. GFN is ok with me as long as it has a good grip.
I have a few cold steel blades. Verdict is in Built for work I beat ‘em up. 4 Max is my fave ✌🏼🤙🏼
I'm guilty! I saw Cold Steel and clicked. I like the size. A nice beater, for sure!
The Verdict looks pretty good to me. I’ve owned a bunch of Cold Steel knives but it’s been a while since I bought a new one. This might be the one to change that.
Not a brand I would spontaneously look at, Cold Steel to me = overbuilt knives, too big for what I need but seems I'm wrong there! And lots of lefty-love too on this one, I like it! Thanks for sharing JB!
Never tried 4116 but the Code 4 has had as much carry and use as just about any knife I’ve ever owned. Cold Steel is a win in my book. Thanks for putting this one up for a view!
Unsure why 4116 would be so expensive. Its metallurgy isn't exotic. Maybe because of the German source? One thing is for sure -- Cold Steel knives are built tough. Within reason, I wouldn't hesitate to beat the hell out of this knife.
I won one of these in the clip point flavor from Jimislash a little while back. It's suprisingly nice for just a cheapy.
This is a nice looking knife but I agree with you the steel is over priced for $60.00 buck I think I could do better thanks for sharing JB
Kind of like a better looking Pro-Lite/Working Man but with a price bump. Kind of feel it should be in the $40 to $50 range
This looks like a good offering from CS. I like GFN, and I think it's appropriate for a knife like this. It appears to be well executed from watching your video. I like to see this kind of thing from CS. Some of their stuff is a little outlandish. Thanks for the review. I'll give this a look.
love Cold Steel, gsm hasn't totally messed them up. Thanks for the chance at a nice knife.
I’m interested in the knife; I have a few Cold Steel knives and love the TriAd lock. I’m not a steel-snob, in fact I share your outlook on knife steels. Thanks for a great knife review video - I just might buy one of these.
I don’t have any cold steel knifes but this one looks interesting. Nice review. 👏🏻👍
It's pretty lightweight and it's the same steel as Victorinox uses btw. You're paying for the triadlock a bit. Not a bad knife. Thank you JB.
Interesting knife for sure. I'm with you and I'm not a big fan of the steel at the price. By the way this is not an entry so draw somebody other than me that really deserves it. Lol. Have a great day brother
It's not a lock back. It's a triad lock
Cool review. My verdict, it looks like a decent knife out of the box. No need to upgrade the clip at all. Cold Steel makes knives to be used. 👍
" Big ole verdict on the side so you know which knife you bought" 😂😂😂 Not really my thing. So redraw if I'm picked. Thanks for the review and giveaway.
I'm with u on this one JB , Little pricey for what it is , but should make a good edc ! It is a cold steel ,and I really like their stuff ! most all i've handled have been good , to great users !
I like these kind of knives i use them for gift knives this one kinda reminds me of a Buck and i love buck so its a win for me.
I like the look but the lowest price I saw was $52 and to me 4116 is a $30 steel. It's better than the CR steels but definitely isn't $50-60. Cold Steel's GFN is some tough stuff though. I've done unspeakable things to Cold Steel blades with GFN and have been unable to break them. If my name gets drawn give the knife to Lacey over at cuttinglaceedc on Instagram
Love cold steel products, I'm always on the hunt on 4m4zon and m1dw4yus4 for super discounted pricing.
It gives on an opportunity to get something they may have never considered due to the pricing.
Plus, they have lefty love on everything I've seen so far.
Rock solid EDC blade right there.
Thank you SMKW for making it possible for JB to showcase it.
Looks like a pretty good EDC. Thanks for the review. Have a great Holiday & a great week.
It has been a while since Cold Steel has grabbed my attention but they are tremendous users and hard work knives. Great for yard work and such. Thanks for the review JB and thank you for always putting the affiliate money back into knives to give a way!
Thank you for taking a look Tim! Have a good week!
