Love this series Ken and love your respect and admiration for the Neil🤘🏻I was 10 yrs old when I heard the All the Worlds a Stage drum solo (still my all time favorite)and I knew I wanted to play drums 57 now and still playing! You are fantastic keep the Neil stuff coming🤘🏻
@@kenkmaryofficial You are very welcome.I love the reverence given to my hero Neil by so many fantastic drummers like you,Portnoy,Mangini,Carey and the most improbable but fantastic thrasher Jason Bittner. If you haven’t seen his Natural Science cover at the BUBBA BASH show check it out it’s really good. Thanks again and Happy New Year!
Great summary Ken, really enjoyed this series and hearing the playback with your drum track is pretty much spot on and that's not just in respect of the playing-but also in achieving 'the sound'. Talking of sounds....I was listening to a few tracks from 'The 7th of Never'(again) and I'm still struck to this day by that bloody insane snare sound, it almost sounds like the snare had a china cymbal inside it.
Hahaha, that's funny! No, we did not have a China inside the snare, lol. If I do remember it was my Ludwig wood snare... I still have that one. It's a deeper snare as well, I think a 14x8.
Not much to add. Ken, I admire your study of Neil's technique, and the skill to duplicate his tracks. It is fun to see your enthusiasm in talking about your experience. Glad you decided to do this during the pain of the Pandemic.
I'm doing it the same way - one take, no edits .. but you're an amazing, polished professional - awesome job Ken! I could practice half my life and not be half as good as you are. Bravo!
Great video! I LOVED hearing the part where Mr Peart's part was one in ear and your part was in the other. Great way to compare how accurate you were. I loved watching the videos! Thanks for doing this!
Hahaha, no, they've been retired, really since 2015 when Neil retired, so almost ten years. But thank you for the kind words. If they do anything again it should not be called Rush, anyway. There was only one Neil, and because of the time they held and the way the business is now, I do not believe there will ever be anyone that influential again.
V’s here! The party has now started! 🎉

TY Roy! I do appreciate the encouragement! It was a labor of love, so to speak!
THANK YOU KEN FROM KEN HOLLEY 🌺🌹🌺😊
TY Ken!!🙏
Loved the Tom Sawyer drums only with Neil in one ear and you in the other. Pretty damned close
I was about 90% happy… it was quite the task in one pass. Even if I could have punched in maybe once it would have helped a great deal!
Awsome... ❤ Amazing again!
TY so much Anders!

Absolutely great study in drumming. Really good stuff Ken. On a scale from 1 to 10, this experiment is an 11.
@@jongriffor4366 TY so much Jon!! That is really appreciated!!
Hard at work!! The classic mark on the snare drum proves it !!
TY Sarah! Yep, you have to leave your mark!! 😁

TY!!
Very interesting. I’m giving it a 99.9/10
@@JRGW I love it!!
Sound and playing are both amazing! Curious to know what you used to grab the isolated stems of the original bass and guitar tracks.
Oddly, they were on TH-cam, lol. I couldn't find SOR, which I did to another band's version, I may post it if I can get in touch with them.

So who is The challenger 😅
A drummer friend of mine from Seattle. I'm not sure he wants to be named but I'll ask him...
Are you trying to garner the attention of Alex and Geddy? Well, by golly, if this doesn't impress them I don't know who or what will!
