  • This talk and workshop was given at an Advaya event in September 2017.
This experiential talk explores how sound and the voice have been used in different traditions as one of the most effective ways to balance the mind and body, empower our lives, and ultimately achieve enlightenment. Jill guides us to experience the ancient magic of Mongolian overtone chanting, sacred songs, chants, sonic meditations and more as we learn how to use the voice to release uniquely powerful energies, which can be used for physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual healing. By freeing the voice in certain ways it is possible to find physical health, emotional joy and spiritual ecstasy.
Jill also talks about her development of sonorous family constellations, which heal the resonant field of the family. When earlier family members die or ‘leave' prematurely, trapped and painful patterns of exclusion act as magnets or attractors for later generations. Jill talks about her work, which finds the key to unlock persistent patterns, so order is restored and the family system opened to the light of revelation and redemption. This is the key that sets the individual, the family and later generations free.
    ABOUT JILL PURCE
Jill Purce is recognised internationally as the pioneer of the Sound Healing and Ancestral Healing movements, through her rediscovery of ancient vocal techniques, the power of group chant, and the spiritual potential of the voice as a magical instrument for healing and meditation.
Jill gives workshops throughout the world: “Healing Voice”, teaching diverse forms of sacred chant, and especially Mongolian overtone chanting and “Healing the Family and Ancestors”, combining Family Constellations with chant and ceremony. Author of The Mystic Spiral and Overtone Chanting Meditations, she guides non-singers as much as international opera performers in their pursuit of the lost voice.

The extraordinary Jill Purce - if you haven't seen it, her documentary 'More Ways Than One - The Mystic Spiral' is superb, not to mention the publication that seemingly accompanied it, The Mystic Spiral: Journey of the Soul, which I highly recommend. A unique and erudite spirit, Jill Purce is fascinating.

I love it!!! Omm. I am a musician, inventor and caregiver. I started very early in childhood. Now I write, record and perform my own music. I sing and play electric & acoustic guitar, bass and I am teaching myself piano. I recently injured my right wrist, so I have been upset, especially considering that I had finally finished getting & setting up my recording studio to be able to record. I had lost my home, hometown, album, all recordings, all equipment and everything I owned in a California wildfire. I finally got everything and had it all ready to go, I stopped a fight that 2 young ladies were in the middle of trying to stop their boyfriends or husbands and the ladies were being thrown around, I couldn't just stand there and do nothing, so I yelled, "stop, stop, stop..." And tried to separate them... that was a mistake, I should've known better... 1 of them punched me which in years past, would have prompted me to knock him out, but I refrained and took a set back, tripped over 1 of the girls feet and put my hand down to brace myself... that was a mistake, but it was natural reaction. I had been upset with myself for trying to stop it. Part of me thinks I would have been better off fighting, but I am peaceful. I have only ever fought because I had no other choice but to defend myself. And it was always a very quickly done situation. But even when I had to defend myself I had disintegrated a knuckle that left me unable to control the ring finger for finger-picking as a result and I wasn't able to play guitar for a couple of months. So I have been very upset... but I found your voice and sound healing video and I feel much better!!! Thankfully I had recorded a few hours of new song ideas getting used to the new recording setup and even though I didn't have an important piece of equipment that has a huge effect on the quality of the sound - so I wasn't seriously recording my songs as to be a finished product after adding all of the tracks, but just recording random ideas. So I had recorded I believe a total of between 6 to 9 hours of original music ideas that I had not yet made into songs... now I will have the time to go through them all and separate what I like and plan to use and arrange all of the different parts into songs. I have also been recovering from a back injury that had left me bedridden for a few years. So I haven't been singing anywhere near my capabilities, so now I am shifting my focus from the heart and foundation of the music of my guitar playing, to mastering my voice, again. Obviously there's always room for improvement and growth, but at 1 point, I could wail with so much power in my voice that everyone in the neighborhood could hear me... clearly!!! So, I'm looking forward to doing that again soon!!! It's been quite awhile, but having the physical strength is the key. I used to be as strong as an ox, now I still have power, but not much stamina... I have been working on healing myself for a long time, now. I have to advance and develop my body and skills to the level I was once at and beyond!!! It's been so long and so difficult just to get where I am now, but I have to do this to get to where I have to be and in order to do so I am healing myself and my parents. I switched to a vegetarian diet and lost over 90 lbs of fat. But if anyone has any suggestions on how to heal my forearm, wrist, hand, back, neck, shoulders and voice, please PLEASE let me know. I know that my inventions are going to be absurdly successful and make me more money in profits than I could ever spend, so I am going to spread the wealth and share with all that help me and my parents and the rest of my family and I am going to donate massive amounts of money to charities and eventually start my own non-profit charity organization to help clean the environment and create means of prosperity for all that are less fortunate first locally, then regionally, then globally. My music will inspire others to do the same... I can use all the help I can get, but even if I have to do it all primarily on my own, I am still doing it!!! It's probably going to take me longer, but I am dedicated, devoted and loyal to making/creating heaven on earth !!! !!! !!!
But if anyone has any insights, advice, suggestions or wants to help in any way, shape or form, please PLEASE email me. I will never ask for anything but positive thoughts, feelings, intentions, enthusiasm, encouragement and energy. Period.

I hear you, I also need daily reminders,
but "delusion of separation" is one of the main ones on my list.
What I also find helpful is the "Upper Limit" problem - theory by Gay Hendricks. I think there is a lot of truth in it. We are so used to the shitty programming that we tend to sabotage our own success because it feels unfamiliar and unsafe.

Strange I'm chronicly depressed and trying to learn the whistle this is fascinating to me. Also I noted that whenever I hum or ah I plunge into this deep voice for some reason. Seems the most comfortable place for my voice even though I'm female. Is that odd or do others do similar?

Could you clip the 3 AHs at the beginning and post them separately.
I do then with this video every morning.

You can use Audacity free audio editing software to do this yourself. And or you can right click on the video at the place where the AHs are to get URL at current time... then you will have a link to go to the point in the video you want, whenever you want it.

Great suggestion. Those of us who are visual learners need visuals to help remember the verbal directions.

I found it insightful. Sometimes I have noticed that when I judge others I am actually judging myself. So I have done my best to refrain from making judgements.
