OUCH... that hurts the checkbook. Tough times make smart/tough people. Overcoming obstacles/challenges gives us something 2 do in our spare time. U will b glad 4 the additional corn fodder feed source this winter. Stay the course, U will B OK. Now I know how the larger dairy operation can gat so many acres ready 2 plant, they double disk, then plant. Thanks 4 the ride along....
Your doing great Ben, you have to take the average of positive's and negative's,even with your breakdown you will be money ahead, good luck with baling!
A lot of us our in the same boat. I have enough feed , but am struggling for bedding. I will also be baling corn stalks for the first time this coming week. I think my baler will perform okay, I just hope my Piquea rake does as well as your rake is doing. I have my doubts.
If ur gonna make this a regular practice I'd look for a cheap flail shredder this next year. Most guys have chopping corn heads so they have a lot less of a market value now
There is nothing easy about cornstalks nothing. You have a great baler Ben but trust me it will be tested to its fullest. Take care and be safe. p.s. In the past we have used our disc bine to cut stalks just saying.

The risks are high, but the rewards are greater! If that makes any sense!

Never apologize for having balls and being creative. You have to break a few eggs to make an omelette. Necessity is the mother of invention. 👍🏼👍🏼
Your doing a good job Ben, keep it up !!

Spring stalks make good bedding to
Good luck buddy
Consider molasses pour on for the bales?
I prepare for the worst and hope for the best
Just rake them even if there not mowed. Cow camp does it that way some I believe
Check out an old video from Cowcamp87 using his diskbine. He does it every year and makes a lot of stalk bales.
