    The last one I was going to mention is a quick one, and ties into the software gripes - No Fingerprint sensor swiping. Immensely convenient and useful feature on the Fold 4. One I use every day, especially in tablet mode, and I wish it was here (But I figured I'd save you a segment and just type it here haha)
    I hope the video was helpful for you guys! Let me know if you're taking the plunge!

    I'm a proud owner of a Galaxy Zfold 4, and man, I love this thing. Wanted to check out your video to see how the Pixel Fold compared and I got to say I'm surprised you loved the front screen of the pixel fold so much, it is way too small for my liking for a phone. When I first got the fold4 I thought the front screen was alot smaller than I thought at first but I love it now and honestly use it about 50% of the time if I am to be honest but compared to the pixel fold I really prefer the taller front screen as opposed to the shorter and wider but maybe that is just me. All in all, it's a very informative video, definitely giving a thumbs up 👍

    Great follow up review. I am returning my pixel fold. The battery is the main reason as by 6pm my phone completely dies and if I use the inner screen more than it's worse. I do miss the multi app windows and features from samsung. I got a dent/scratch on the top inner bezel where the screen closes on both sides (didn't expect that). I'll wait to see what the z fold 5 has to offer.

      Hey, Hamlet! Thanks for dropping in again, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

      @@DavidAVelez1I also noticed it drains my galaxy watch more than when it’s connected to a samsung device. That was weird maybe its the extra apps and driver that is needed. Do you use a smart watch? If so, have you experienced that?

      Hey, Gamer! I am really happy to hear you enjoy the content!
      What do you mean about the daily driver? As in the phone doesn't actually drive? If so, I see what you mean!
      I guess I just figured it's such a common phrase (thus I can understand why annoying 😆) that people will understand the sentiment in relation to the device. I hope that makes sense! And I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts!

    • @Gamer_85
      @Gamer_85 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DavidAVelez1 thanks for the reply. The phrase ‘daily driver’ is a phrase used for cars, and someone thought it would make sense to use it when talking about phones and now everyone uses the phrase. But in relation to phones it’s nonsensical.
      ‘Main phone’ or ‘everyday phone’ makes more sense. The problem with TH-cam is once 1 person says something, everyone does it and then the originality disappears.
      Maybe I’m easily triggered but that phrase just irritates me 🤣

    After my experience with the fold 3 these folding phone are not worth the price tag. The technology is still new and with the pirce of the fold or pixel you can get flagship device like S23U or iPhone 14 pro, a tablet, and an apple watch or Samsung watch. With this folding phone price tag the device needs to be good in all departments unfortunately its not. And finally these devices dont retain their value and in less than 6 months they will be mich cheaper

    Regarding the fact that you find the screen of the Pixel brighter than that of the Galaxy, either you received a Pixel with ''exceptional brightness'', or it is your Galaxy that has a problem.
    And regarding the width of the Pixel when folded, it is not the width of the screen that people complain about, but rather the width of the smartphone itself, which could have been avoided with a less protuberating hinge or even a less wide screen by 3-4mm while keeping the same hinge 🤷🏽‍♂️
    On the other hand, no offense to Google fans, but, Tensor G2 + the borders of the internal screen are inadmissible in 2023 especially at $1800, and for me, a Fold (mini tablet) without pen 🖋, has no interest.

    • @DavidAVelez1
      @DavidAVelez1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, Rolins! Well the Galaxy Fold has a peak nit brightness of 1,000
      While the Pixel Fold is rated at 1,500. I don't always throw numbers at you guys (and just try and relate it to practical use) but I would say in my personal use I notice the brightness difference in direct sunlight. Both are usable, though!
      And for sure on the width! I think the width increase is marginal, personally. It feels really good in the hand (but that's purely subjective of course, not everyone is going to like it)
      And I agree on the Tensor 😭 Such a premium device, but only Med/MedHigh settings on games is a bummer, and it gets hot quicker than you'd like on an $1,800 device :/
      AND NO PEN, YES! GREAT POINT!

    • @rolins3279
      @rolins3279 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DavidAVelez1 Regarding the brightness of the Pixel Fold, indeed, the figures announced by Google are higher than those of the Fold 4, but we all know Google at this level, the figures are never related to reality, and all the other testers have confirmed it.
      Regarding the width of the Pixel Fold, indeed, it is not necessarily the widest smartphone in the world, but we must remember that 95% of people use a protective case on their smartphone, and especially on a smartphone at $1800, the question does not even arise.

      We will see with the Fold 5 as to battery life but my experience is that the Fold 4 is similar in battery to the Pixel Fold and the Fold 4 is also 4nm TSMC, similar to the SD8G2. The Fold 4 did not have the awful Samsung-made SD8G1 so the improvement from S22 to S23 will not be nearly as obvious from Fold 4 to Fold 5.

    Having used the phone since launch I agree with the reasons not to buy the Pixel Fold. To me those are basic compromises in battery, screen brightness, performance under direct sunlight and outdoors in general. This is not a good phone to use outdoors.
    All these basic compromises I feel makes this phone not worth its price compared to last year's Galaxy Z Fold 4 which I had no problems using outdoors. The Pixel Fold is nice to use as a second mobile device but for $1800 but unfortunately does not perform as good as the older $599 Pixel 7 and $899 7 Pro.

    • @DavidAVelez1
      @DavidAVelez1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey dfksijjvjfioewksniwks! 😂
      But there is definitely a lot of room for growth on the Pixel! Great foundation, and room to flourish. For like $1,300 I could see it selling more.

    • @HamletM
      @HamletM ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree $1,300 would have been a perfect price. I see that everyone says $1,800 but I count what comes out of my pocket which is $2,250 for the 512gb with the case and tax. I really love the form factor but it's not worth the price. Samsung gives a lot of discount and incentive to buy theirs. Like the z fold 4 they gave $200 credit towards accessories, huge discount on the galaxy watch 5 pro or free for non-pro, a $1k trade in value plus student discount.

    I think this phone is going to be more meant for those who either really love pixel system. Or those of us who were really into the Duo but disapointed with the software. Im personally excited to get my pixel fold and trade in my fold 4 because of the form factor. It is going to be the best of the surface duo AND z fold. Which most duo fans went back and forth between.
    I dont think this will draw in a lot of iphone or regular android users, but mostly those who are die hard fans of foldables AND surface duo as well.

Had the hardware been more in line with today's specs and not something from two years ago, I might have considered dropping $1800 on it.

    Good video. Being in Canada, no Pixel Fold. I am sticking with my Fold 4 until I see what the Fold 5 comes with. FYI, have you ever looked at One Hand in good lock? Gestures on it are SO much better for doing things like screenshots, pop window, split screen, pulling the notifications down, etc.

    I had one for about 24 hours and thought it was a ton of fun, until I realized that the plastic of the inner screen has too much friction and the outer screen is too short. I found myself missing using my Pixel 6 Pro. As much as I really wanted to love it, the inner screen fragility and feel, plus the outer screen height and lack of third party app optimization, it just felt like an expensive toy.
    Also, this type of device really makes you realize how many websites are optimized for mobile screens and the desktop site doesn't make the difference I thought it would.

I used to be an Apple user but after bricking two phones i bought outright made me go back to Android. I used to have a Galaxy S21 Ultra and it was great but i did have fun with my phone. For the first time i will fork out the money to be an early adopter so we get more and updated Pixel Folds.

    For their first gen device, I really think they did an amazing job. But for that money, I can’t let slide the gripes I have with it like those bezels or deeper crease BECAUSE I already know that other devices have done significantly better to have them not be as present. Not to mention I truly believe a deeper crease leads to more stress on the screen over time, there’s a reason I’ve only seen samsung screen crack along the middle vs any other foldable. Really looking forward to gen 2, they have a good form factor on their hands, yes yes yes to wider outer display, thinness, and gapless closure

      Hey, Extra! I agree, awesome job for the first go around.
      And also agree that the price is so steep to not have those other complementary features and premium qualities (battery). Especially when Google has all the money in the world to make it top tier.

    • @peacelove8395
      @peacelove8395 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The only reason you've seen "only Samsung's" crack along the middle is because they are the only Manufacturer selling foldables in all global markets and they currently have close to 90% market share vs their competitors who predominantly only sell in China.
      With a far bigger customer base than anyone else then it stands to reason you will hear "more issues" from Samsung users.
      If the issue was that bad, Samsung would have done a recall.
      As someone who worked in Mobile Telecoms in retail, marketing and repairs across a 15 year period, I can tell you this as fact.
      When was the last time you heard anyone complain or post videos about a failing Sony or Nokia devices?
      The answer is simple, you can't remember.
      Reason why? Both manufacturers have insignificant percentages of market share.
      That doesn't mean they have no defects, it just means it will be much harder for it to come across your radar.

  • @ray4493

    G2 is a fundamentally pathetic chip. Not because of the performance or benchmarks but because of how inefficient the chip is in battery, ram management and temperature control. Pixel 7 Pro barely stays cool while opening common apps like Amazon, Mega or Artstation. Those who just gets a phone for making a video will probably won't notice these basic drawbacks.

    • @DavidAVelez1
      @DavidAVelez1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, Ray! You're 100% right, and I honestly should've deleted a bit deeper into that beyond just the gaming limitations. But I 100% feel the same drawbacks on the 7 Pro. I love that phone in a lot of ways otherwise, but Tensor holds it back.
      You'll see in the comments here people asking if the PFold gets hot and I unfortunately have to tell them yes haha. Much hotter, faster, during games and heavy Multitasking with videos and apps (not a ton of the latter in my experience, but I have experienced it)
      Thanks for the insight!

    I've been using the Galaxy Z Fold series since the OG one (typing this on the Fold 4). I'm strongly considering it because of that full screenlike front display. I actually use my phone 50/50 open/close so it be great to have a front screen that would be easier to type on! The bezel around the inner display is a little bit of an eyesore but i can forgive it thanks to the higher quality selfie cam. I don't game and I'm not too picky with pictures on my phone so as long as general performance and cam is good I'm really leaning towards getting it. 🍑

      I've had the fold 3 and 4 and I'm thoroughly enjoying the pixel. I miss Samsung software but I prefer the shape and size of the pixel. I use the outside screen at work and I love it. When I take breaks or have a moment to dive into some content or a book I open it up. It's harder to type on the inside screen and a little more of a hassle to hold one handed open but it's easy to get used to it. I turn if sideways which feels like the galaxy fold. Barely notice the bezels. Took about a week and now it feels more natural. I can give it a thumbs up and recommend it but maybe stick with Samsung and wait for the pixel 2nd generation. Kinks should be worked out by then.

    Sent mine back. Cover screen is to wide even though it looks like the same size as pixel pro 7. You have the hinge, thickness, and the weight. My fingers were fatigued quickly. The camera sensors are too small. Yes, it did good for point and shoot, but fell short of the 7 pro. Apps aren't optimized for inner display. The cover screen setup being mirror to the inner display sucks. Android is all about customizing and GF just doesn't let you do it like fold 4. Battery isn't terrible but if you push the phone it'll drop. I was getting about 6 hours of sot. My speakers were worse than the fold 4. Fold 4 has Dolby Atmos and were louder and had way better sound. Then the GF charges very slowly so topping it off throughout the day isn't ideal. Tensor G2 just doesn't do it for me at $1800.

I figured it was a good shot to give the fold a try. I have really enjoyed the device, but to be honest had I shelled out my own money, I'm not sure if I would have kept it past the 30-day trial. There's so many things to like about the phone and I don't really have major gripes, but there are quite a few little things that are not justified by an $1,800 price tag.
