It's not lover the way we have it at school is she wore it for that young Marine who's far far away and it's around the block she pushed a baby carriage and I know the rest
Maria benitez, ignorance dear. I dont blame you. But the original is lover and cowboy. A serviceman didn't make the cadence and then this song came. The song came and someone said hey, this has good marching rhythm. And boom, a cadence it became
@@6223tony BINGO, that's how I remember it too Lover and don't recall hearing cowboy though, lol. But, this is a befitting song for Remembrance/Memorial Day.
Mitch Miller´s grandfather´s grandfather or somebody might have been one of the settlers who came from England, Scotland, Ireland etc and took lots of good songs with them. It´s not nice to quarrel about the origins which might have been in the Stuarts´ Scotland or in the Puritanes´England as well. People use the melodies again and write their own lyrics for them. You can do your own if you want. For instance, The song You Raise Me Up is not Josh Groban´s but was sang in Europe with the names Danny Boy and Londonderry Air - and hundreds of others, too.
It's not lover or soldier , it's for the arsenal !
Love it!
