As a retired working musician, I used to listen to Level 42 on the way to the gig. Their uplifting compositions would put me in such a good mood before I had to tune up.
OMG, Mark (the thumb) King the frontman bass player! This was a great track of theirs, I was a big fan at the time, I hadn’t seen any Slap and pop Bass before 😂. I actually knew the guy who built the Bass for him (John Diggins) it was different from the norme being a through body neck. Great reaction, you have a new sub, see my other comment on More than Words!
You should watch the live version recorded with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra at the Prince's trust rock gala back in 1989. It is just epic!!
It was one of my first records i bought in 1987 as a kid. I became instant a fan of Level 42.. the album running in a family is such a great masterpiece of them. I saw rhem about 10 times live. Its One time i saw Level 42 in uk live, it was fantastic.
Sill proudly have the Running In The Family album, bought in 87, on my shelf 😀 Lessons In Love, Running In The Family, To Be With You Again, Children Say, It's Over.....
I had completely forgotten this song! Probably haven’t heard it in over 30 years. What a groovy tune with great instrumentation (especially the bass guitar). Couldn’t agree with you more regarding the quality of music and live instrumentation we enjoyed “back in the day”. Spot on commentary Psyche - as usual! Take care dear and thank you 🙏🥰🍁
Hello my dearest Red so good to see you. I know you've been busy so I'm grateful that you managed to check in. I always love reading your comments - so informative and full of wonder and joy. Anyhow you take care and see you soon. 😘 🙋🏽♀️🕊🌹🙏
Just came across your reaction, and I couldn't agree more .... real instruments rule, these 80s groups actually played instruments. Level 42, one of many groups that invaded the U.S. in the 80s, 90s. Classic bands, that played real instruments, these songs will be listened to for years, unlike the crap that is out today.
Hello Brew, thanks for your comment - made me smile ☺️🎸. I adore the bass - honestly I'm surprised Im not hooked up with a guitar player - anything with strings and that just gets me - my guilty pleasure! Thanks for showing up I really appreciate it very much. Have a wonderful week. 🕊🌹
@@psycheinc-theSLC I also love the bass and if you'd like to see my current favorite bass master check out Dirty Loops. They are a Swedish Jazz-Pop trio of keyboards/vocals, bass (Henrik Linder) and drums who just happened to be managed by the one and only Quincy Jones! Their tracks Follow The Light and World On Fire have awesome bass solos but every song of theirs is awesome. They also recently released a cover of Thriller with Cory Wong that kicks ass! Cheers!🥰
Muchas gracias por su apreciación ESG, muy amable. ¡Los subtítulos deberían haber llegado ahora para que puedas regresar y escuchar lo que dije en español! 🕊🌹
My favorite band. Growing up in Hawaii in the '80s, "Something About You" was the bigger US hit (it peaked in the top ten in June 1986). While I prefer that song, Lessons in Love is still a solid tune (I think the remix of the song is better).
Close your eyes and just listen to the backing on Level 42 songs - it's fantastic, in fact, when growing up the first things we recognise (as very young children) are the sounds in music rather than the words and songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s had such great variety and depth. I think we've lost a lot of that richness and variety in most modern songs.
Buenas noches Francisco, encantado de verte. Espero que tú y tu familia estén bien x. Gracias por comentar, como siempre muy apreciado. Muchas bendiciones Francisco - Psique 🕊🌹
This is a nice song of Level 42, I really like Level 42 - Something About You (TOTP 1985) better. In my option the video doesn't give the remarkably written lyrics justice. The first time I heard this song in 1985 I loved it and imaged my own meaning.
Hi Tammy, I agree with your comment about the video but love the song. Something About you is good but my favourite is Leaving Me Now. Goodness me I thought I was going to marry Mark hahaha 😄🤦🏽♀️. Have a great week Tammy. 🌹
@@psycheinc-theSLC I just listened to Level 42's Leaving Me Now I agree it is a good song bad I still love Something About You more, it brings back some very personal wonderful memories for and Mark is killing it on the bass 🎸 guitar.
This is the live version recorded at The Prince's trust rock gala at the NEC in Birmingham. With the late great Alan Murphy on lead guitar th-cam.com/video/QoIw0Q5oEyI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=23-JEVAKPiiVeW2R

Never gets old....fresh as the day it was born. ❤️❤️
What a beautiful woman you are !!! Fantastic group Level 42 !!
That's my mid 20s. Music was just so "FABULOUS".

Perfect reaction, but since you from England you already knew they was the biznix. Level 42 is my favorite band of all time
Great band, great music, great bass line and of course great reaction.
Have a wonderful weekend lovely psyche ♥️
Aww bless you Yuval. Hope you and the family are good. Stay safe, healthy and happy. Psyche 🌹 x
Great reaction ❤
Heard this song over the ambient music system at the grocery store. Ladies were looking at me crazy bopping down the bread isle.

Saw L 42 open for Tina Turner in the late '80s and been a fan ever since! Love your "slappin' da bass" PSYCHE! lol

Me encantaba este grupo, Level 42, la mayoría de sus temas. Abrazos y besos sinceros desde España.

Hi Allen thanks for your comments. I love Something About you and Leaving Me Now is my favourite. The track I played did well in the US.
I'm a rocker, not into this sort of music.
But....I love Level 42. Got the12" of this one.
Saw them place this very fabulous song october last year in the UK. Still awesome- still plays that bassline and sings lead vocal live!
Desde Argentina!!! Me encantó...

You were right first time with your hands when he plays the Bass . He does pluck the sticks with the other hand too.

I COULD BE WRONG, THEY WAS ON SOUL TRAIN. YEAH, I THINK I'M RIGHT. THEY GOT THE 💰 ON THAT TRACK ALONG. AND STILL IS. TIMELESS. JUST SAYING...
Ela sabe, conhece e sente a música.
Please take a listen to Mr Pink, Mark King Live... :)
Didn't you grew up with this song as well??😊❤
That drummer looks familiar
A brilliant band but even better live. There’s tons in TH-cam. Check it out.
Hi Jean-Marc, yes they are - as you say people can check them out on You Tube. I've already seen some.
