Impressive portable 10 GHz setup, even horn antenna built-in!

Reminds me of working field day when I was younger. I always worked CW and was pretty good at it. Good to see CW still being used here.

Thanks for sharing the video. I operated in WI a bit in August & in September. Many DX QSOs for me as far away as about 275 km. Have the same little CW paddle as Bob. Fun contest. 10 GHz only for me. I operate rover so I was at six different grid square locations during the day. 73, Larry WA9TT

Thanks Terry for taking the time to video the 10 GHz contest station. Very nicely done.

CAUTION Terry! My friend Carlos has lost his hair in the head looking for DX in GHz.
    Hahaha! ea5bii Wow!

That 10Ghz transciever at 14:19 is very nice. Good job.

Really great video Terry! Wow 10 Ghz............that is really high frequency stuff there.
The video should have had more time with "shortwave girl" Emi. Afterall she is the star in your videos.

Thanks. I don't like to talk much but it would be nice to have a Ham setup in case of emergencies and such.

re - 10 GHz cw. Is the drift coming from the transverter ? FB job BTW.

Seems to be a lot of "drifting" on those GHz freqs.......maybe due to wave action on Lake Superior ? ? Great job guys !

If the transverter isn't locked to a frequency standard they'll drift quite a bit. Temperature fluctuations in the radio usually, the bits warm up as you transmit and the frequency changes.

I use a GPS Disciplined Oscillator for my frequency stability. I am often amazed at how exactly we are on frequencies with many other stations at 10,368,100,000 Hz!! And absolutely no drifting.

When you're multiplying frequencies up by a factor of almost 100 to get from 146 MHz to 10368 MHz a small amount of drift becomes very apparent.

Need to get back up there again! Love that area, is there still a brewery in town?

Yes, The Lake Superior brewing co. We had Blueberry beer with white fish sandwiches.

Nice! We used to go up and pick blueberries and look for agates. That water is cold but did not bother me at all. 73 KE8IKV. I also was in USAF/Ohio ANG, Eletronic Warfare. Worked on the ECM pods.

10 GHz and close proximity? Good idea guys....cooked ham tonight......

Not all that bad. I wouldn't stand in front of it but those dishes don't bleed much power off the backside.

    • @beebop7771
      @beebop7771 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

To my surprise, I copy absolutely no signal reading with my 18 GHz field strength meter off the back side of my dish, with strong & dangerous signal strength right in front of the dish.

Hillbilly? Nobody makes commercial microwave radios. If you want to talk on microwave, you have to build your own.
