    I have a car in the fleet that has had its egr and cat removed emissions are lower than spec on the door that's been mapped. The egr has a pressure sensor built in on some cars so when you blank it it no longer senses gas flow so it chucks its dummy out the pram. Hope it helps you further

      Hi mate the actual egr in 2. 0 Cdti is doing exactly same function. The Cdti engine is different and auxilirities around it is placed in a different location form 2.0hdi but once you find Egr you will able to see hot and cold side as there will be egr, egr cooler and 1 way in and one way out of egr. Principal is same and people blank them same way. Mind you some cars will like it some might start to run even worse.

    Soo...where does gasses goes than, From egr intercooler ? They stay in the pipe...or what. They have to goes somewhere out

    • @Mad4FrenchCars
      @Mad4FrenchCars  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate so basicly this is how it is. If you blank just a Egr end then just euro 4 emissions with no hole in a plate makes a gasses stay in a pipe it doesnt go through, that means more gasses going out from exhaust manifold as non recirculate. In euro 5 emission cars you leave a small hole in a plate some some gasses recirculates but not as much. This plating egr thing its a temporary solution to fix a stuck egr until you get new one as stuck egr prevents car from starting and it gives eml. If you want to delete egr you should map it out and block both sides or remove a whole thing and block and thats illegal in UK. I hope I answer your question. I do know some people who plate a only egr side and drive for long time like that but theyr egr cooler must be full of shit as it doesn't recirculates but it's only bad if you planning on removing plate in a future.

    Sinspeed (UK) claim that simply blanking of the EGR will eventually cause problems (see below). Can you comment on this please?
    "Why does blanking the Peugeot 307 HDI EGR Valve system cause these negative effects?
    If the EGR valve is blanked off, then no exhaust gasses will recirculate back to the intake manifold and into the engine. - However, the engine ECU does not know that you have blanked off the EGR Valve, so when the Engine ECU calculates how much diesel to inject on each cycle, it will be doing so with the EGR flow included in it’s calculations.
    In order to properly remove the EGR valve and stop it recirculating exhaust gasses without the negative effects as described above, you will need to have the engine ECU remapped accordingly to tell the ECU that the EGR valve is to remain shut at all times. The engine ECU will then re-calculate the injection cycle to compensate for the EGR valve being closed and thus you will experience true benefits of having the EGR valve removed."

    • @Mad4FrenchCars
      @Mad4FrenchCars  ปีที่แล้ว

      So the Sinspeed (UK) text you quoted is 100 % correct and if you look at some of my previous comments then you will see that I have already answered this question for some people. I simply show a way for you to blank egr. Egr blank is a temporary solution in a case of a Egr failure used by AA, RAC and other road assistants. As failed and open egr prevents engine from starting sometimes people even put some of the aluminium side from the fizzy drink can just to close a hole to get someone home. Permament solution is a whole assembly removal or atleast both sides of egr assembly blanked and Ecu remapped so that the ecu wouldn't thing egr is still there. As a temporary solution it can be used for a quite long time but it's still just a temporary solution. So if you want to get rid off it for good it has to be blanked from both sides properly and mapped out.

    • @Mad4FrenchCars
      @Mad4FrenchCars  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also there is 2 types of people who wants egr blanked. 1st its a people who wants to clean engine from recirculating exhaust gas. These people should get it done properly that means both sides blanked and remapped so you would have a nice nice clean system. 2nd kind is a people who is trying to achieve more responsive acceleration and who blank egr and do not remmap so they get a richer fuel / air mixture, quicker response time on a acceleration and more power as ecu thinks more air is going in a mix but it isn't. I personally thing its nothing wrong with well working egr.

    absolutely first class presentation .. My 2008 2L HDI Citroen C5 has low performance . I have cleaned and then replaced the MAF sensor . Tested the air pressure 14 lb sq inch . from the air filter to the intercooler outlet tube. There is a small ish leak . but I am systematically checking for where the leak is. The pressure builds quite quickly then suddenly drops ,possibly indicating a split rubber hose opening up under boost pressure . Wish me luck I am a 78 year old tinkerer .mechanic . next step is to raise the car / remove the engine undertray and spray some bubble liquid around .interestingly your engine cover shows 1.6 HDI yet the video is showing a 2 litre HDI exactly like mine .The local garage owner did a scan and diagnosed low turbo boost .. no warning lights just no meaningful acceleration nor pulling power .

    • @Mad4FrenchCars
      @Mad4FrenchCars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate the flow goes from the back of the engine, through egr cooler then egr and then through metal pipe back to the inlet manifold so you need to blank it same place like I did it between egr and metal pipe going back to the inlet manifold. If you have egr delete on a ecu with remap then you would be blanking both sides so right next to intake manifold ideally and also on the exhaust side before egr cooler or in some cases then is egr deleted and mapped out you would also remove the whole egr housing but it requires proper blanking and also bare in mind it would fail mot as any alteration like that would be illegal. As its illegal to tamper with anything that deals with lowering cars emissions in UK.

      @Mad4FrenchCars I'm not sure they know. I've had problems since with the dpf so I'm considering having it put back in with a new egr.

      @@AcePanda01 normally people do a egr and dpf delete together. Adjustments have to be made prior remapping it. Dpf has to be gutted out and egr usually blancked from both sides but with newer engines is more and more complicated to do it properly. As newer engine egr is different and also some has add blue and stuff you get other problems after doing any removals
