    Sir, I too wish we where closer together. I come build you a table like you want. Like the way you put the video in overdrive to speed things up. If you could find a old roller conveyor that you can roll boxes across and put legs on it would be good for you as well. May could find a auction somewhere of a farm or mtg business shutting down may have a heavy duty table that may work for you. Have a great day be safe.

    That is a cool splitter, if we lived closer, or you want to do a road trip to Wisconsin an out feed could be made (I'm sure you will find someone closer). The leg technique is something I have used with my splitter (splitzilla) for years, my concern was your fingers! PLEASE keep your fingers clear of the ends when that push plate is moving!! Take care Jared.

  • @chrismagnussen6680
    @chrismagnussen6680 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video! I am impressed with the leg technique since you don't have a table to work with yet.
    When you aren't feeling great, situational awareness is really important. As soon as you notice you are making more 'mistakes' in your process it's time to take a break. Especially when you are splitting so quickly. Again, it's a good technique but make sure you start and end with 10 fingers.
    I'm becoming really aware of how many times I handle wood. From logs to rounds to split wood. So, I make sure it never hits the ground once it's on the splitter. I stack it in totes directly from the splitter which requires a table on my splitter. It takes longer initially but I don't touch it again unless I'm stacking it for a customer. I'm lucky enough to have a tractor with pallet forks to move those totes around and dump the totes into the dump trailer for delivery. It's great that you are constantly looking for ways to reduce your handling time. Just wanted to share how I'm reducing time, effort, and human wear and tear as we aren't getting any younger. Keep up the good work and videos!

    You should check out with outside with Scheib on how he redid his splitter by putting his pull tongue on the other side. Then it wouldn't interfere with him moving it around because the rack would be on the opposite side of the toung. You could also just buy some racks to put on the splitter. If you had covid you would definitely know it been there. I lost 20 lbs in 2 week because of it.

  • @andystampfli9127
    @andystampfli9127 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It's your time not mine but looks like you should try to find the size you want in the 4way and adjust it to be able to use it more. Running a piece through the 4way then dropping to the single is a lot of extra cycles. If you could find that size you want then burn it into your memory it would let you run it through in a lot less passes. Not that the single doesn't make the best splits or less mess because it does but the point of a better tool is proper use to save time/ effort. But again it's your time so if you want to just go out and do it 👍 not everything has to run at peak performance in life. Most of this is a dreamers rant from being jealous of the splitter... Ya

    • @FirewoodattheFurnace
      @FirewoodattheFurnace 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lol yes thanks for the feedback. When I’m splitting heating wood I just set it and forget it. It crates a lot more mess and scraps but is certainly faster. Bundle wood I try to make look nicer so it fits better in the bundles

  • @billwestphal1421

    • @FirewoodattheFurnace
      @FirewoodattheFurnace 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have a separate price for oak just because of the demand and the limited quantity I have. Everything else (all hardwoods) go for the same price. I recently got a load of hickory that I’ll be processing soon. I may look at pricing that because people like it split small and I don’t get it too often

  • @JoesFirewoodVideos
    @JoesFirewoodVideos 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Doesn’t look like you’ve modified the splitter so the pieces don’t fall on the ground, but there’s no much you can really do with how it’s set up. You’re definitely making the best of it as is, looks as efficient technique as you can do.
