I just turned 60 and have been playing video games ever since me and my brothers got an Atari 2600 as a Christmas present and played it on a cheezy Zenith floor console TV. Needles to say I've seen the entire evolution of console gaming and I appreciate what the engineers and game designers are able to do with the modern tool sets. I'm ashamed to say I was influenced by all the negativity surrounding Starfield and didn't purchase it until a year later when I saw the special edition on sale for the price of the vanilla. I'm now level 70 after 2 months and loving every minute of it playing out my fantasy of an ex-soldier turned bounty hunter. Somebody needs to make a mod that limits where npcs can and can't go in the game. Though I find it hilarious to see Cora walking to the Lodge by herself from the landing bay on New Atlantis I get furious when I go to the Captains hab and she's chillen in there looking at me with that "No Limits" look on her face. I built a whole living hab on the bottom floor of my ship for them only to wake up next to Andreja with either her our her dad standing there saying stuff like, "The way you're handling things, nice, really nice...😅
Someone might make a mod for capturing outposts, so that after clearing it, if it is valuable, for example, a junction of several important resources, then it can be captured and continued to be used, and if necessary, re-equipped. And if it is civilian, buy it, or clear it and occupy it. ----------------------------- Кто-то может быть сделает мод на захват аванпостов, чтобы после зачистки если он ценен к примеру стык нескольких важных ресурсов, то его можно захватить и продолжить использовать, а если надо переоборудовать. While I liked Starfield, I didn't love it until I stopped playing it like other games. If i just run around "playing space" like i was a kid instead of completing all the missions like a to do list from the wife, i started having so much fun! Played for over 200 hours now and havent completed the main quest yet. I do wish my computer could run it a bit better, but its pretty darn good on a 3060 laptop with an i7 11800h. I wish i could show everyone how to be a kid again and play games like we used to play with toys.
I still just wish I could convert certain POI's into outposts. Like the abandoned hanger or The science tower. Both of wich would make cool asf Outposts

All these great news updates show strength and honour! Not loaded up since the new patch, just haven't had time between recovering from vacation and Thankgiving :D Fallout 4 has a mod, Transfer Settlements - Shareable Settlement Blueprints, that lets you export settlement layouts to a text file which can be shared with other people. Unfortunately, it needs the Script Extender so it's limited to PC only. I can see that it would be very possible to do something similar with Starfield, though, even though there are likely significant structural differences in Starfield's Outpost and Ship Builder systems, as surely it would mostly be a case of encoding and serializing the relevant data and writing it to file. Hopefully you've updated your NVidia drivers since their late October security advisory! The "envyray" branch seems to have a meaningful abbreviation in its name, "environment" and "ray", perhaps? My gut reaction is perhaps it's to do with ray tracing? We know the RTX 5000 series cards will be announced in the not too far distant future, maybe Starfield will support some new feature? Oh that ray tracing idea is probably it. The libraries are available from Nvidia but SF has to support them. That could be really interesting. I have indeed updated drivers on Windows and Linux. Thanks for watching! 🙏👏🔥
I think i've gotten pretty close to doing all the handcrafted stuff in my current ng+3 universe with my original lvl.120 character. Now i'm turning my attention to 100% surveying planetary systems. Ha, it's actually been interesting watching positive and negative views of that game on YT. I talked about it in a previous video and concluded that you just need to play it and decide for yourself.
@@RichardBejtlich Yes totally agree that is really the only course to take especially these days. I like the combat, world design and the look of many of the characters but the false inclusion aspects totally killed it for me. I can't see how that community with many creative types would not be offended at such a poor insulting portrayal of them. BALDUR'S GATE III did it right and in a way that uplifts that community in the same way many others have in the past before it became the new "cool" thing on the block.
I know that this is a Starfield-centric channel for all things Starfield, but I've honestly never really understood people getting worked up so much about the wider online critical reception of something. Especially when it comes to the loud and frankly annoying games sphere. I just play what I like and move on with things. I started playing Starfield, Final Fantasy XIV, Baulder's Gate 3, Mount & Blade: Warband, and Kenshi this year. I like them all for different reasons, and I think they all have drawbacks. I love Fallout but I'll probably never play Stalker. So what? They're just videogames. They're literally designed for fun. If you're not having fun, find a game that you think is fun. Don't be afraid to offer critical feedback when you think it's necessary. That's not always equivalent to being a "hater". But this constant back and forth of overwhelming negativity v overwhelming positivity is exhausting. Aren't you all exhausted?
I'm exhausted by all the negativity online that pushes false narratives. It bothers me enough to research real data and share it here. That's part of my content, so it's up to you whether you enjoy it or not. I don't have anything against other games. I don't spend time in their social media spaces taking them down or pushing false narratives about them. With Starfield and Bethesda, I'm beginning to understand the concept of anti-fandom and why some people feel the need to be negative, but I'm not sure I want to do a whole video about that. Thanks for watching.
Exhausted? No. At least not since I banned/blocked everybody. Now it's just Richard and a smattering of Cat-in-the-Hat videos in my feed. Oh. And Curious George. Man. What a classic.
Sadly vanilla Starfield hasn't got much going on so these news videos report on things outside the game. At least that's my speculation. I do feel you and it's kinda depressing seeing a bunch of people who don't see the problems you do with the game, and those are the ones Bethesda pays attention to. (And also seeing those who ruin the discourse by hating just for the sake of hating and poison the well of genuine Starfield critiques) Though this channel is pretty reasonable and seems receptive to feedback, I mentioned something like this in a community post of theirs and they've seem like they understood my intentions. Even though we probably disagree on the quality of the game.
@@WatchThis-ek2og Dont bother, this is a giant echo chamber of people that feel this is the absolute peak of gaming. lol. Wild that people can't see the obvious issues present.
@@RichardBejtlich Mainly quality of life mods that allow you to tailor the gameplay to suit your liking, and aesthetic edits - i.e. Chargen menu, Synthlight's DLL mods to disable limits on number of weapons, landing gear and so forth, and 3xpl0its save unfinished ship mod... That one is a godsend if you're elbows deep in building a ship and want to stick a pin in it and come back to it later instead of having to cancel and go through the entire process again. I will concede that Starfield hasn't gotten traction in the modding space as quickly as Fallout 4 or Skyrim did, though part of that is due to the lag on tools to create new animations for CE2. The update to CK2 to generate lip synch data helps out a lot, but being limited to vanilla animations for weapons and such is a bottleneck. And any kind of automated outpost building/populating mod analogous to Sim Settlements 1 or 2 will mandate a script extender.
As for Creations, my main complaint from a technical perspective is the cumbersome interface it uses and the abysmal search features. You can tell instantly that the Creations web designers are assuming that everyone accessing the page will be doing so with an Xbox hooked up to a TV, and navigating with a controller, and not a mouse and keyboard. It's slow and clunky, and prioritizes displaying monetized mods front and center. One suggestion, from the perspective of a person who never has and never will own a console: reformat the Creations web page to be more PC oriented, i.e. more Nexus like in it's layout, and keep the original layout for console users. Then there's the jank involved in the downloading/update process. With Nexus or ModDB you click the download link, grab the mod, then use your choice of mod manager to install, or install manually if that's how you roll. Updating is quick and easy, see it, grab it, install it, merge/overwrite it and you're done. Contrast that with Xbox: Initial install is straightforward, once you find the mod you want. But if the author updates it, you have to delete it entirely and reinstall, which can be a pain in the ass if you've had to tweak your load order to get it to play nice with other mods. Updating without deleting Those two "gotchas" are tied to how BGS has structured the Creations based modding process, and, IMO, nerfed it to accommodate the console user. Everything has to be done in game, where with Steam PC and a Nexus account, the process is a LOT faster and more intuitive. The decision to move Creations in that direction, in my view, is a mistake. The mod ecosystems that have organically grown around the BGS PC titles starting with Oblivion and Fallout 3 are the sole reason the games are actively modded to this day: the players get to shape the game to suit them, and in many cases create what are effectively giant DLCs or entirely new games. The only other title that even comes close that I can think of would be Black Mesa - the fan made remake of Half Life 1, and even Valve got in on the action recently with the HL1/HL2 remasters. You're not going to see XBox mods with the depth and scope of Fallout: London, Sim Settlements (1 or 2) , or Skyblivion or FO4:New Vegas when they're done. Also, I know a stripped down version of SS2 is available on XBox, but that only underscores and reinforces my point: the standalone PC version is the ultimate standard bearer for the longevity of the Bethesda first person RPG.
I get what you're saying and as a primary PC user it makes sense. The problem is the Xbox world is 4-5 times bigger than the PC world. It's only going to get bigger as people play on handhelds. I agree the Creations interface needs a lot of work. As a person who works at a software vendor, I have seen how long it takes for UIs to get better. Hopefully BGS is working on it!
Paid mods are trash dude. Its not about choosing to "Buy or dont buy." Bethesda makes a bunch of money off the work modders do. Not to mention if a mod is well done, start a patreon. You will get paid. But this trash they pedal and get paid for is ridiculous.
ive heard from one of the large modders of skyrim mods, patreon barely pays anything at all, millions of downloads almost nothing from patreon. but now the modder actually can make a living. i do fully agree that there should be quality check of paid mods, though. There needs to be a standard, and there needs to be a pricing that has a modlist in mind, not a single mod. but the patreon thing is a myth
It’s 💯 about buy or don’t. You don’t want Bethesda to get money from mods? Don’t buy. 😂 And modders are making WAY more on Creations than donations. Just ask them. Although I donate to Nexus modders, it’s apparently exceptionally rare.
@@RichardBejtlichcompletely agree with you Richard. The issue is that lots of kids now days want everything for free. It’s kind of bullshit. You can choose to buy or not. Also, people can teaser g their review before buying it’s. I personally bought recently Crate 87, The Veil (fantastic) and couple of other mods… they were super cool and well done!
@@GoalOrientedLifting In my humble non-modding opinion, you shouldn't really be trying to "make a living" off making mods for a AAA studio who are taking 60% of your cut. It's like I write all the time, inbetween my day job and the self-employed part-time job I have going, but I don't expect to get paid for that writing.

The top mods now require SFSE, which leaves Xbox out completely, as there's zero chance of a script extender for Xbox.
What do you consider top mods? I’m using SFSE less and less.

Mainly quality of life mods that allow you to tailor the gameplay to suit your liking, and aesthetic edits - i.e.
Updating without deleting
Those two "gotchas" are tied to how BGS has structured the Creations based modding process, and, IMO, nerfed it to accommodate the console user.
Those are paid content. Creations. Not mods. They are console content not primarily pc.
