If you are going to start a business, you need a plan of course. Probably a little money, although if you start small you may not need a lot. The biggest thing you need to know when running a business is you are always working. As you get larger, you can hire people to help but especially in the beginning 12, 13, 14 hours a days everyday is pretty common. It's also good to note it takes several years to build up a good customer base so among your many hats you will have to be a salesman for your company, convincing people why they want to use your company. In the beginning I had to beg for work, advertising, yellowpages before google, radio ads etc.. Currently, I haven't advertised in years and have more work than I can handle but it took a good 8 to 10 years to get to that point. When you establish a good name in your industry your will be able to choose your work but it takes a long time for that to happen and it takes a lot of work.
Cheers Josh, timely for me. Have been in business for myself now for about 2 years, and am about to change it out a bit. The manager hat is a hard one for this technician to wear, for sure. You’ve given me a couple of books to read over the break.👍🏻
Went from business talk to life talk ..REAL INSPIRING BROTHER💯💯💯

I've been self employed for over 47 years and you are spot on concerning this topic. I may have more than 3 hats.
