Great drum book, incredible color guard. This was what kicked off their epic rise IMO. Good writing that was challenging enough to push the corps. Every year from this point their brass got stronger.
Can someone tell me what happened to Crown in 2001?, did they lose staff?, because 2001 Crown was horrendous. The hornline didnt even sound like 2000 Crown at all.
Ill do my best by giving a little insight as to the state of the 2000 group since that was my year. Drumming was the obvious strength and they carried us. Guard was very good but not super clean. Hornline did the very best it could despite having what I would estimate to be around 10 to 12 players that might have played 30% of the time. Most of those 10 to 12 were exclusive woodwind players prior to trying out. Yea... The horn line was carried buy a group of transfer vets from magic combined with returning and new decent players. Many of those that carried that year aged out or did not return leaving an obvious hole. Not that this was an option but crown would have been fire in div 2 with a trimmed down horn line. The main reason Crown and crossman tended not to get that many talented players was because they were a part of a group called YEA where the cadets got everybody in The Leftovers were set down Hill to us. In the years after Crown would leave that ridiculous set up and become what you see now. Hope that helps
yea for sure. funny how fortunes can change. I wish I could go back with a better perspective and enjoy that tour season more than i did then@busunit3824
this is such a kickass show. i love it
Went from mid tier to ELITE in less than a decade! These are the building blocks that got them to that 07 breakout season!
love to see this one done again with the chops available now.
Not a bad little crowd response for us at the end. Especially for a 11th place group in 2000.
Man I love this type of DCI. It's so different with all the experimental stuff like the tempo and just everything really.
Paul Rennick wrote the drum book for this show and its one of my favorites

@@scarolinamoore Thanks. That makes since. Glad Crown and Crossmen got out of YEA. They are both beast now.
