How utterly delightful to come across this interview. I saw and lived two versions of Sweeney Todd, one in NYC with Len Cariou and the other in LA with George Hearn, both brilliant Sweeneys, and both with the one and only quintessential Mrs. Lovett, Angela Lansbury. And it’s so lovely too to see the interviewer, Charmian Carr, who was my friend during our association in our daughters’ private school mothers club. RIP Charmy, you are loved and missed by so many.
It's amazing that I see the exact same things in Mrs. Lovett as she does. Angela can get *every* point across in a character flawlessly and make me see everything from her point of view, and the musical isn't even about her.
Oh how delightful to run across this interview! I saw the stage version of Sweeney Todd in both NYC and LA with Angela Lansbury in both. Len Cariou was the NYC Sweeney and George Hearn was in LA. Both were brilliant. Any here is this lovely interview with Charmian Carr, whom I knew when our daughters were in private school together. RIP sweet Charmy, we all miss you.
Thanks Ryan. What I posted is the only interview that I had with her. So glad you enjoyed it. She is the most amazing, hard working woman in the business. I have loved her since seeing her in Mame, at the Winter Garden Theatre, in 1967. So glad it made you happy to see her! Blessings...
She had no idea how "on the trail" she was about to become for 12 seasons of Murder, She Wrote. J.B. Fletcher sure was active, and not at all contained!
I just 🥰 this woman . She was just most extraordinary!!!
Her mrs. Lovett is really the best performance I’ve ever seen. She kept you looking forward to her next move for the whole show.

Sensitive and sensual woman . Intelligent and reserved with subtly of spirit and spice .
Angela Lansbury is one of the only women on this planet who has as much class as Julie Andrews.
Wouldnt that make her one of two?

Absolutely love Angela what talent and charisma
🎉 she was not ashamed about her sexuality. A truly role model for older women who thinks their sex lives are over after 50, 60, etc.
I love her so much she is so graceful and talented a true class act not many like her
So accomplished yet so humble 😌 🙌 I could never

Ooooooh a mention of the lost Sunset Boulevard musical of the 80s.
And a mention of the 2 Marple movies that where never made.
