Nephie.. if you notice, she never wear a sexy dress even when start singing and free hair.. thats why Malaysian like n adore her very well ... she hv a golden voice, beautiful, cute and not sexy at all. At that time she’s like an icon and puclic figure to Malaysian, Indonesia, Brunei and Singapore coz she really translate Malay people and culture. Everyone know she really a good son, and always follow her mom and late father rules. Shes also, for me the first Malaysian singer (esp a women) can sing Very well in different genre song.. now after 20 years (more) i find out that the next Siti Nurhaliza will be goes to Ernie Zakri. She really can sing up side vocal arrangements in just one click, can sing a traditional song too very well...
Yes. Ernie zakri. Except that ernie zakri is quite sexy and urban looking completely different from the way siti appear in her early years. And ernie is technically good. She know note and singing stuffs technically while siti was born talented. In terms of vocal quality, yes ernie zakri can be the next "siti nurhaliza" but the charm and innocent isn't really there and we can't be sure she can be the next Malaysian sweetheart.
Ya Maulai means 'Dear God' and also can be interpreted as "dear prophet" as Maulai also means the one that we dearly loved.
This song will be hard to be translated words by words as this lyric was more like a classical poetry style or in malay we called 'syair' where some times the translation from words to words would picture a different meaning. For example the chorus:
"Pinta ku pada mu bintang, kirimkan daku sinar mu"
In english this would be " im wishing upon the stars to shine me with your brightest lights "
"moga jadi kencana, hiasan kasih di jiwa ku"
In english : " may it become the jewel, to decorate our love in my heart"

"promise me my love, please bring back my heart"

Thank you for reacting to her!! Sorry for your previous reaction video got taken down. For this performance of Ya Maulai, she won Best Performance for AJL 2001. For that particular year 2001 for AJL(ANUGERAH JUARA LAGU), the TV STATION(TV3 MALAYSIA) had to use minus one because of low budget/lack of sponsor. About the translation of the song, it is quite hard to translate it in English due to a certain Classic/Old Malay words that being use.

just a lil trivia for thaat performance, the style of dancing she perform is traditional malay dance called zapin and its really hard for her to practice the dance. the style of sinnging called 'irama malaysia' which a particular style of traditional malay trot, arabic and a lil bit indian style of singing

MR MKH pesanku instead of advice (nasihat) is actually translated to request. And bawalah pulang instead of bring away (what?) is actually bring me back (home), as she asked her lover to bring her heart that she ‘lent’ him while he is away, so that the can finally live together forever.
