I also had a baby who would only sleep while being held, I read a book called precious little sleep and she talks about every diff kind of sleep habits and how to teach baby to sleep independently. Honestly it changed our life. My baby was a motion junkie.. and started sleeping independently at 4.5 mo in her crib. We use the owlet and baby monitor so I also got better sleep.
To help Daisy sleep without being held i recommend putting something that smells of you, ie a big tshirt underneath her, so use it as a sheet in her moses basket or whatever. That way she still smells you and is comforted. Some babies love being swaddled tight too, mine didn't but we tried it too. White noise also worked for us, we just found a video of white noise on youtube to begin with, and then got apps on our phones.

Does Daisy like to be swaddled? Babies sleep much longer and for longer stretches if they are swaddled. If she doesn't like it you can do this anyway: Right before she is asleep, in that dreamy stage, place her in the crib or wherever and use a finger or two to gently rub her forehead, eye brows, talk to her quietly or sing softly, white noise machines are good also. That will get her used to falling asleep not being held, for sure it will take some time, but totally worth the effort!

as soon as she falls asleep, try putting her down in her crib/moses basket and maybe play white noise or put her mobile on or just be strong willed and place her down for a nap and ignore her cries and she'll soon fall asleep! But some babies do just like to be held or the motion of moving x

You can swaddle her quite snugly before you put her down to sleep which can help them relax and wriggle less (it kind of feels like they're being cuddled). Also make sure she finishes feeding before she dozes off as it helps them to fully go to sleep, and it means you can put her down while she's still awake! Hope that helps :)

So, every child is wildly different and I do think better sleeping comes with time butttt I've also seen many examples where the effort to teach independent sleeping isn't taught from a young age and instead of them getting there on their own at 6 months, it takes till like 6 years! So I'd suggest to start little efforts like a simple routine, white noise, swaying, swaddling and then I think what's major is no matter when ur child falls asleep, put them down. Even if it means ure resettling them like 10 times. It takes perseverance but it'll be the best for you and them in the long run. Things like white noise especially help them go into deep sleep without needing u constantly there every time their sleep gets light.

My daughter was the same way about being held. Once she was about 2 1/2 months I was able to get her to start sleeping at night without being held and then eventually sleeping during naps on her own. It does just take time especially if she’s used to being held while sleeping, but definitively I would try slowly putting her down when she’s almost asleep 💤 also try feeding her laying down so you can simply scoot backwards! Helping a baby to sleep without being held takes a little time & creativity to break. Babies like to feel secure & almost "closed in". There are things that almost hug a baby like the dock-a-tot, which you can use in the day when you're able to keep an eye on her. But good old swaddling might be a good option for Daisy. But other than that, it's practice & time. Soothing her while lying in her cot/Moses' basket. So you're there & she knows you're there, but she's getting used to lying in her own space rather than being held.

Tips for you doing something while daisy is sleeping maybe in the baby carrier (i know you already tried this one) and some people say you just have to like ignore a baby when she’s crying because sometimes baby’s get used to when they cry ohhh heyy that works my mum is picking me up it sounds heartless but maybe its a try
And for some baby’s it helps when they sleep in their own bed and get used to it and for most baby’s it helps to put a baby music on ps. Im learning to work at an daycare so thats why i know this hope this helps💗 or maybe

Here in the U.S we call your "jumper", "sweatshirts" and I love your Jumper! And Ebony is right, you are way to hard on yourself! Just wanted to let you know that you two are doing an amazing job as parents! Oh and Ebony I used to think that you should let a child "cry it out" to "self soothe", but I read somewhere that the child doesn't know how and if the child needs to be held then you just have to hold them, my kids were fine when I put them down. But I do know that you have to have a routine! Always be consistent! ALWAYS...Try and keep Daisy swaddled, but remember that all babies are different. Other than that don't stress because they can sense that. Sending lots and lots of HUGS and KISSES. ♡ DEB.

I’m an optical consultant, what Opticians did you go to? It’s called astigmatism that you were speaking about. Basically all it means is that your eye is like a rugby shaped nothing wrong with it but your glasses will have a prescription in there that will help your eye focus. What prescription is your glasses I’m assuming there not that strong. We do drive safe glasses that help you at night time it reduces all of the glare! Xx
I don’t drive at night either lol. I can’t see well at all. And if I have to I make sure it’s not to far from my house

We try to clean eat at home as I also have gut issues, although I am not always good at being good! I would love to see what meals you guys cook? Inspiration is always helpful. Maybe you could do an Instagram story when you are making food?

FrankeeK20 there is a meaning behind the chain. Its a symbol for alcoholics. Recovering or otherwise. Theres more to the meaning but thats the basic idea behind it

The women I work with always say that they put the baby down to sleep when they are still awake because if they are asleep in your arms and then you put them down, as soon as they move they’ll realise they’re not with you and then wake up, if you feed them, burp them and then put them down when they’re half asleep, they will know they’re not in your arms so unlikely to wake when they move, if they cry just leave them as hard as it is, they’ll cry them selves to sleep, a woman I work with did this with her grandchildren too and said she cracked it in 3 days, hope you’re all well!xxx

Ebony I know this comment is late but a midwife gave me some advice, Aliyah is 4 weeks old and for the first two weeks she just refused to sleep unless she was in my arms!
What I was told was in a scale of 1-10 (1 being wide awake- 10 being out cold), put baby down when she’s at a 7/8. That way she gets used to soothing herself to sleep. Otherwise she learns to rely on you to put her to sleep which is why she wants to be in your arms all the time. I started it with Aliyah and after a lot of trying and failing it finally worked! Now she wakes every night the past two weeks every 3 hours, eats and once she’s at 7-8 I pop her back in her cot and she falls asleep herself!
Hopefully you see this and it helps.. it’s worth a try, I know I’d try anything for a chance to get stuff done! 😂

You should watch brad and Rach on you tube they have twins around the same age as daisy and they have done vlogs on how to settle them for the night and they are sleeping well ,they’ve got some great ideas
The best thing my family has done and myself, if since the first day we brought baby home we had a routine. Bathed by 8:30 in bed (own crib) at 9 and it has worked wonders.
