Hi everyone!
Thank you for the congrats & well wishes. We have been planning this for a while. I am a huge coffee lover and we have both been baristas in the past. I am also a huge health & safety geek for the workplace, so I am excited to incorporate my passion for customer service and employee wellness/fairness into this business. We plan to have an arrangement of drinks from specialty coffees to non coffee drinks like matcha, loose leaf tea, chai, and hot chocolate. I love all of them! We are currently working with our health department and plans, so we do not have an open date. Thank you for watching and we hope to meet some of you when we open!
We have researched and consulted our coffee partner about layout and equipment. Our menu has been carefully selected and we are working hard on this every single day. These videos are just to show the fun transformation, so please understand there is 10 times more work behind the scenes that would not be as fun to watch! Thank you all so much.

what a great project, and fantastic helper you have. Having recently opened a shop myself, in IL those ceiling tiles would not be allowed over food service areas> They need to be non-porous. the back side of that paneling is not.

I love “a place that makes you want to stay awhile.” There are a lot of coffee houses, but I have no doubt that this one is going to be a community favorite.
As someone that has worked in the food service industry for over 20 years, I recommend that you talk to someone that works in food service and consult with them about all your ideas for the design, menu, work flow and layout of your of your space. Find out what all the requirements are from the health department as far as hand washing stations, food safety, Fire exits and how many people you could fit in your space safely, etc. And making sure you’re purchasing all commercial grade products, and the proper chemicals and cleaners as well. I live in the state of Washington, and our rules are pretty strict with everything, I don’t know how it is in Michigan. So many people try to do this sort of business launch with no former experience in food service and could fail miserably. I definitely don’t want that happened to you guys! I’m watching further and it sounds like these guys are doing all the proper footwork and homework with the health department, which is a good thing!
I could not have said it better. I have played guitar in many coffeshops and heard all of the above from the owners . I also ran a convenience store, and several others. Michigan, I'm sure, is pretty strict, even though they convinced their farmers in the 90's that it was safe to dump municipal water treatment PFAS waste on organic farm fields . So not sustainable!
I have worked in food service forever! Don’t worry, we know lots of the in’s and outs. We already have all of this down. But thank you for the suggestions! We did not go into this without a plan.

I’ve been watching you and Dave for a long time now. I picked up Ryan’s channel about a year ago and Mick’s channel within the last year. I love the idea of a coffee shop!! Now I have Belle’s channel to add. Your family is wonderful. I fully enjoy all of your folks content. One suggestion, paint the drop ceiling runners black between the wood panels. Trust me!!! Tip to remove wallpaper spray bottle with vinegar and warm water. Spray on let soak a little then pull off. Start around seems spray enough it will come off in big sheets. Also wallpaper is two parts the glue sheet and the paper sheet good luck

Oh this brings back so many memories. We opened a coffee/ice cream shop in the Red River Gorge area in KY about 3 years ago. We took a 1909 brick building and remodeled the whole thing with air bnb upstairs and the coffee/ice cream shop downstairs named it "The Brick". It has so much character and charm. We leased a pottery maker to sell his pottery there too. It turned out great. If we can do it, you can too. Hang in there!

Diffferent flavors of iced teas, and iced coffees for the up, and coming, (I think it's gonna be a early hot one here, (the laughing gulls have already showed up a month early!)) Hot summer. Me? haha, I can drink hot coffee when it's 100 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Nice long season to sell hot coffee, cocoa and tea anywhere in the colder parts of the Western hemishere.
It ain't cramped for space, but you just can't tell how big your retail store space is, not until you move everthing in. I.e. freezers, and ridge's , microwaves, coffee makers w/ concomitant carafes, etc. You'll need a nice sized rotary oven, and a grill too, (if you're gonna make sandwitches.) Big work , but it all looks like big fun too! You already have a big head start renting your retail space in what looks like a strip mall? Huge plate glass windows , with which to invite customers in , and make it nice for patrons to look out onto the street as well. (After you guys move everything in , I'll bet you could still seat 60 customers at a time easily. (Well , maybe 40 then , still.))
P.s. Working for yourself? Beat's the snot out of workng for someone else! By a mile at least! Congratulations, and good look to Belle!.Cool beans yet.
I love the ceiling. I will recommend a dishwasher if your planning on in house coffee mugs and other glasses, it saves so much headache.

My Daughter has her phd in literature she reads and writes all the time in her favorite coffee place and has a full time job in publishing in NYC and also married to a Doctor and Scientist a coffee lover as well as tea.
Great video! My wife and I live in BR. However, I used to live in NY and my wife used to live in Seoul, Korea. While living there, we had a lot of experience going to cat cafes. Have you thought about teaming up with ARC and turning this into a cat cafe? This will make your coffee shop really stand out from all of the other coffee shops in BR. Cat cafes are usually HUGELY popular in college towns. We would love to partner up and help out!
