Harmonically and rhythmically sophisticated. MAYBE more than the writing and spot-on singing is the musicianship that I have always admired the most about JT. But then again maybe it's the writing and spot-on singing...
Beautiful, James. And this video reveals your shyness. . .I met you at McCormick Place in Chicago before your concert there. The year was 1967, and I was 21 then. You were very shy, but so kind to me, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that. You’re a gift to the world of music, which brings positivity even in difficult times. . .❤️ Love from Iowa, ~ Lori Parrish Niemi ~
What JOY 🥰 for James - and the rest of us! JOY - JOY - JOY 💫 SWEET CHORDS! James, did you ever meet 🎸Michael Hedges, R.I.P. ? He could really "strike those chords" like you! "The Streamlined Man."
James, one of my favorite songs that you ever did was “Long Ago and Far Away”. It was one of those songs you hear and instantly know it’s going to be one of your favorites. It has such a beautiful melody and you sang it like no one else could. It was so sweet and calming, and I loved the girl’s voice toward the end. I wish we could see a live performance of it. It’s the sweetest song and I never felt it got the attention it deserved.
J.T. more magic! That was some impressive guitar playing. Long time listener... lifetime admirer! Thanks for all the memories, the advice, the guidance, the ethics, And thanks for understanding... I only wish I could give to you, the gifts your music has given me... God bless you!
Still as sweet a listen as it was back in 1970 when I first heard you play it. Masterful and delightful! Thanks, Stringbean, for posting it on your TH-cam channel for us all to enjoy again (and again and again).
Beautiful James! Do you ever think about going back and doing anything differently than you did in your Career? Your coming to Pala Casino in May. I so wanted to See you again, but, I will be in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. So sad I'll miss you. I love you JT. 💖 💛 💎
Beautiful James. You've been my inspiration/comfort for many years. Cant wait to buy your audio book. Blown away by your honesty! (I can relate). Much love/blessings. Lisa (New Zealand). PS. Let me know if ya need a backing singer! 😅💗🙏
What a gift! Thank you for bringing 50 years forward and I so enjoyed hearing and seeing this (wonder how long that magical concert lasted and how many more wee gifts are yet to come). James, if you ever see this comment, first, thank you, and second, can you say where your amazing sweater came from?
James. You are amazing! I am trying a version of your Bionic Nails. Use super glue and gauze on my thumb nail. Just superglue on the others. Dip in baking soda. File, grind with a dremel sanding drum. finish with clear lacquer. Tougher than stone! Thanks James!
Hey James! Did that J-50 have the “Adjustable Bridge”? Two chrome screws at either end of the bridge - could turn to raise and lower the action of the strings. Mine does. I also have the burgundy tortoise pick guard. My Dad bought it in 1963, then gave it to me later in 1969, when I was 11. He played it in ‘63 - had a fascination with Peter, Paul, and Mary - Puff the magic dragon, etc. I really got going on the J-50 when I was 12, listening to James Taylor - “Country Road” - yeah, take to the highway, won’t you lend me your name ..... that kinda stuff. Thanks James, for getting me inspired back then.
I saw JT on St. Patrick's Day 1971, in Dallas. He was playing a J-50, I was about to graduate high school, and I had some savings and a few gifts of money. Of course, I rushed out and bought a J-50, a 1970-made guitar. I'm so glad yours was a good one -- mine was awful! I had it more than 40 years, and finally sold it a few years back. I'm currently playing Martins and Breedloves, guitars made in this country that are so much better than the overbuilt junkers the companies were turning out to meet the demand of guitar-crazy kids like I was in 1971. And I'm still working on my own version of JT's "Greensleeves" . . .
Although I'm sure I'm in the majority of subscribers who are really pleased with the release of these selections from the BBC 'In Concert' Special from 1970 - there must be something that's genuinely rare or unreleased in the Archive / Vault that was much lauded by JT earlier last month?.......
He is a brilliant songwriter.. excellent singer... and an awesome guitar player.. what a complete musician
Reminds me of something you would hear a bard playing in middle ages in a castle for his lord somewhere in Europe. I love it so much!
Beautifully executed rendition.
I have to say this is my favorite💚💚💚
I have enjoyed this song for hundreds of years, hey what can I say I'm a very old guy. Good job,James
Thank you
The cadence at the end to me feels like it is James' signature. So beautiful!
You must be proud of it, fantastic! Thank you, James... Wow!
This made me cry

Awesome! Love your sweet smile that you give to the audience at the end. I’m a huge fan of your music and I also love your sense of humor.
One of my favorite tunes to play on guitar. I like the way you jazzed it up a bit. Thank you. 🎶
This show has always been gold.
I always loved what you do with that guitar, James ✌💙🎶🎸🎤
Such a master at the putting that JT touch. Unmistakable 🎶🎶👏👏😍
Gorgeous!

The ‘girl’s voice’ at the end of the song was someone called Joni Mitchell. Never heard of her myself, have you?!!...

Great guitar playing and cute smile 😊
HEAVEN
A Living Legend🎶😊
His playing here is absolutely fantastic. What a killer performance!
This was so beautifully lovely that I loved it!
I loved that so much. A little vacation from this stressful time.
WOW!!!! I forgot about that gig. Really a great tune!
WOW WOW WOW. Duh me. I played this in teens, but never like this. I salute you once again JT!!
His brother, Livingston, said recently that James is a good singer, a good song writer, but a GREAT guitarist.
Good Times!
So great to have these videos now official, and in high video and audio quality. Thank you James.
Notice That he plays the 1st notes of "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight" at the top of this video a full two years before that song was released !
I give it a 10! I need to go put on the apple album now.
Wow! Skillz!
James undoubtedly had classical training in his youth.
He did: he took cello lessons before switching to guitar.
@@jamestaylor Now this is cute!!
Sweet
Hermoso sonido, gracias James Taylor!

Beautiful! I first heard this tune from Jeff Beck, but this version is great as well. Thank you for posting it!
Such a musical genius!

The story goes that Joni Mitchell knitted it for him (they were dating at the time this was filmed)!
Nice
That Gibson sounds perfect
❤❤❤👏👏👏

That is awesome that you own a J-50!
this song was written by king henry the 8th on a mandolin .true story ..but in his times there were no copyrights ,so it became public domain ..
Henry would be pleased
First thing I learned on the piano 🎹
Is that a J-45? Thanks James. ⚓️
J-50.

Are there tabs for this? Love the arrangement!
The whole Package folks!!!
If JT wrote Greensleeves, he must be about 450yrs older than he looks!
Everything he plays sounds like he wrote it.
Alas my love you do me.wrong to cast me off discourteously for i have loved you far too long delighting in your company opening words to greensleeves
I had no idea
Yup,I've messed around with that one too.................................
I feel like an ice cream now🍦
Would it not be awesome if while he was playing this that he slowed it down way way down....yep
Homer fudge
Not good.
