I have 2 Pekin females and a khaki Campbell drake. The girls have laid lots of eggs. I opened many and all eggs looked fertile so I incubated many of them over the last 6 weeks and not one every even starts to develops. I thought it was my incubator so I. Bought a new one. When that didn’t help I bought 6 hydrometers to put in ti really get temp perfect. That didn’t work
So I started to think it was my girls. The place we got them from never mentioned cross breeding but I’m starting to wonder if that maybe what happened.
It’s very strange that both my girls eggs would have this issue. Can an egg look fertile but not have the capability of hatching if the female is mule from mixing

So can my Peking male breed with my Muscovy Female? And if so, will their chicks be fertile?

No. The issue is the chromosome count is different for each. In Mules (donkey/horse) there are very rare examples, less than 1%, that are fertile, but it's so rare, it couldn't be counted on. I don't know how true that is with ducks, but as a rule, any mix of the two species will only result in infertile offspring.

Let’s say I mate a Muscovy drake white my khaki hen, I understand those offspring will be infertile, but will those moullard hens still lay edible eggs

I am going to get call ducks and I would like to know if its likely that my drakes would breed with them and have ducklings my drakes are muscovy (I don't expect them to breed with them), mallard, Indian runner and crested.

Hi Jacob! I've definitely heard of call ducks crossing with other breeds, including mallard and Indian runner. Most that I've heard about personally were the result of a call duck male with the larger female.
By far the biggest concern I'd have, if you're keeping these four drakes in with call females, is the safety of the females. Breeding season can be hard even on females of the same size, and four drakes is quite a few. That's about the right number of males for a flock of 15-20 ducks, even when all ducks are the same size/weight class. Hope this helps!

      @@SaltInMyCoffee Thank you.
well the muscovy's are kept in a seperate area but they do meet when they are free ranging.

I have a mallard drake and a buff duck hen is the Mallard able to get the eggs fertile

Absolutely! Buffs are a Mallard-derived breed, so you should be all set for some healthy ducklings, which would also grow up to be fertile ducks.

I have a Rouen pair and some baby mixed breeds could they mate with the Rouens?

It's not breed related, it's species. The Muscovy is a different species. Different dog breeds can mix, but you can't mix a dog and a hyena. Muscovies are close enough relatives to breed, but not produce fertile offspring.

We have a peking couple, two khaki hens, and a Muscovy couple. So far it’s the Peking frame breeding all the hens, I have 10 in the incubator ready to hatch… at they going to be fertile?
