Hey Jeremy. Love the figures. Just started my Legions journey and am enjoying every step of the way. Here is a tip I've used for years. For dots and really fine detail work use those plastic flossing picks. Butler G.U.M. They are as cheap as chips and you can get pin point precision...hell, I've used them to paint individual teeth on some figures. Hope this helps someone. Again thanks for all the enjoyment you have brought to me and all Legions fans. Cheers. Tom B.
I started to do this last winter with few Ogres and found it pretty easy. It encouraged me to go further a paint the straps leather and all the little rivets. I think it is a great way to start small to build up that confidence to take the next step.
Great tutorial Jeremy, I got the deluxe Gladiator, while it looks great, the lack of paint makes it look bland. Your painting dots are a great way to get into painting.
You need to invoice the four horsemen for a new camera for these videos! Need to see these details in HD! Really helpful video though. 100% one day il take the plunge!
Dabbling into my first custom paint on a deluxe goblin legion builder. Question. Would you do the “dots” before doing a dry brush? Very new to custom painting figures. Your videos are inspiring the crap outta me! 💯🔥
It depends. If you want the dots" to have the same wear as the rest you are drying brushing, then yes. If you want those rivits to stand out more, which is the more likely scenario, then they go after dry brushing!
Fantastic, thank you for the inspiration. I am buying a Vitius and skeleton figure to make a custom Pixxus. Do you have any tips on brushes and blue and gold colors?
For brushes I use a 3-pack of Testors brushes as my primary, and some Winsor & Newton brushes for my detailing. I have a video on painting basics where I show those on this channel. As for colors, I've never match Pixxus, but I prefer Vallejo paints myself. Paints really are a preference thing, often based on what you start with, so lots of options will work for what you need.
Thank you for referring to this video in the Mindflayer Custom Video. ☺️ Will be my basis for starting with my Cosmic Legions Custom Painting! 🤘
I can't wait to see what you make!
Dry brushing and weathering would be excellent topics for the next video, the legion builders would benefit greatly from it.

Check out my channel. I have lots of videos on drybrushing and adding effects like oxidation and such.
Do you leave them as is after you paint them or do you seal the paint job after?
If the piece is for me, I often leave it as is. If it is being sold, I seal it for extra protection.
What do you recommend for sealing?

Would you use an Acrylic or Oil based paint?
ALWAYS use acrylics when painting Legions!
1 fine tooth brush
Please can you tell me what the exact color of decebalus is?
It is not an "out of the bottle" color, but rather a mix of colors and painting techniques to get that final look.
