- In this video we chat with Nate Hamilton about his past present and future, his failures and his victories. We chat about his new 370Z Formula D competition car, and his old S13 comp car. We chat about his XDC career, his Formula Drift career, his family support, and his industry support. Thank you very much for the chat Nate!
Nate is one of my favorite people ever he’s so down to earth super chill and will take time to talk to a fan no matter what
👊🏾 damn right. I remember walking pits when I first started and told myself as I grow into this community I won’t forget the young guns!
I can back this up as well, met nate 2 years ago at fd up in canada. One of the nicest most humble guys you can ever meet. Will make the time for you to chat and take pics when ever he can! Hopefully can meet him again one day !
loving these rapid fire interview videos as of late. very interesting! They were some of my favorite parts of the drift week videos. Keep them coming.
agreed!
Nate is truly one of our hero’s! We are so humbled to work with you and so excited for what the future is going to bring❤️❤️
I came here to listen to Nate the legend but Aaron didn’t stop cutting him off. Let the man speak
35.23 I legitimately burst out laughing!
On a serious note though Nate is an insanely humble guy and a genuinely good person. To take break because you feel you are not giving your sponsors the results they deserve. That's unheard of.
I saw him with his Dad after he won the shoot out in Minnesota on Saturday, and it was very cool. Humbling experience watching this guy drive in person.
Around the 35 minute mark, it sounds like Nate is trying to explain that, at a certain point, taking time off from the sport to spend time elsewhere helps with progression just as much, or more, than keeping at it and trying to get better. You can open your mind up to stop "trying to win" and just do it. I'm in agreement with this philosophy and hope others can see the value in what he's saying. It's an interesting concept and really cool hearing it from the drift perspective. Killer interview
Another thing is sometimes taking that break forces you to start over with up to date equipment instead of sticking to your old out of date stuff that you stuck with because it had been good to you in the past (same reason that when people are struggling then junk there stuff when they come back out they go on a absolute tear kicking everyone’s azz)
This is one of the best motorsports interviews I’ve seen. Good shit
I was soooooo stoked to watch Nate at Lanier Raceplex last year. Such a talented individual with the right attitude. And maaaaaan his blue dash is to die for!!!!!!
aye! Thanks for the positive support!
This video is beautiful. Love both of these guys a lot. Very happy to hear the insights from both. Nate Hamilton was my original inspiration to start competing. His story and his spirit was the driving force behind my desire to “make it” in drifting. And now I casually drink and talk shit with both of these guys 🥺😗🤩 anyways
and we print shirts together, hahha more beers behind EastSide soon!
Met nate at his first year in xdc at Texas motor speedway. Was walking the pit area and his car caught my attention. Ended up talking to him and noticed he was chill af compared to most of the other drivers. Ever since then I have showed up and chatted with him and the family. Everyone had good vibes! Really would love to see him back in fd. Ik it'll be awhile till he is back but his new z and style is gonna kill it! Stay sideways bro and keep pushing yourself!
Nate is one of my favorite drivers. Hoping he can make a trip back to the Midwest to drive out local 2.25 mile road coarse next year! It was flooded out the year he was scheduled to hit an event.
Thats right, we gotta connect that dot sometime!
144 @straightlineerror has started throwing events at that track again this year. They actually just had one on Saturday. I’m sure they will be having some again next year so as soon as the schedule comes out I will get it to you so hopefully it could fit into your schedule! Bring some other Texas homies with you too! I’d love to see more people travel to drive this track!
@@144.natehamilton KC drift and raceway park of Midlands are some great events in Midwest. Hardly a minute where there is no driving!
I Have to give big props to nate! Have been watching him for years and always been an inspiration for me!
Appreciate ya!
Seeing this guy slam his hatch open last year last August was amazing and then continue to shred all weekend was incredible and inspiring
Shoutout to Nate Hamilton, I remember watching you compete in xdc in 2011 in buffalo at a really crappy track. That style and flair in your driving definitely gave me motivation to step into drifting!
Glad I was able to help, you can do the same for the young guns, just share your journey!
Nate on that visualization life!!
100%
Nice interview! Really appreciate both you guys for everything yall have done for me personally, Enkei Wheels, and What Monsters Do!
100% Thanks for being my first sponsor EVER!
At 35:00 I always think of things as, "you're only as good as your last win" doesn't matter if you have 100 championships if the one you're trying to win now doesn't work out.
Nate has a good mentality. Big respects
Much love!
Met Nate at a Walmart, heading to that Jersey show, first time I'd heard of drifting. Hooked ever since
I predicted about 90% of this interview and enjoyed every second of it. Love you Nate!
Nate I’m a huge fan for a looonnggg time from Australia. And it’s good advice about approaching every competition with the belief that you can win. I believe 90% of competitors beat themselves before they leave the start line. If your ever on your way to Australia, hit me up and I’ll make sure my cars running for you!
If I ever make it that way, I hope to meet ya!
Nate Hamilton seems like a super chill dude. Great interview!
the skateboarder in me, haha happy with life no matter what section of the process I'm in.
We will have to catch up at flying saucer soon amd slate and thanks for the merch brotha keep up your work!
Nate is so right, belief is the greatest gift
100%
Nate will always be a cool dude to see drift and gives of such a chill vibe, gonna be tight to see him drifting in fd again, and you should try and get him out at them texas street legals.
met nate a long time ago definitely one of the most humble and down to earth ppl, always rooting for this dude to win and do well in life !
p.s. this is like watching the pessimist vs the optimist, polar opposites like a mf haha
hahahah couldn't agree more, but we had a fun time bouncing conversations around!
Hell yea NATE!!!! Been wondering what was up with him!!! Super good dude always down to talk to fans. Legit how he sees Chris is how I saw Nate! 🤣 "I got all mine free" so much truth @40:50
OMG FINALLY! Been wanting this for so long!
I need to do more interviews!!!! hahahah
Good on you nath, great beleive ! Nothing to it but to do it !
100%
Didn’t know Shia labeouf was in FD..
I'm not, but working back towards FD! lol
I see it 😂
😂😂
Love you Nate. I believe in you
Nates the man!
Back at ya, AJ!
Here we are couple months later. Adam LZ almost took 3rd place away from Chelsea Denofa in 1st year in pro one. And only 4th year ever drifting. Believing in yourself is powerful.
How dare you say Travis Pastrana wasn't good at his sport.
I think he framed that incorrectly, in another comment Aaron literally said "God that guy [Travis] is good at anything he does"
Or compare him to steve-o (I think/hope he ment bam margera, but he still said it)
He was the Tony Hawk of FMX, decent at rallyx, nascar was no bueno though.
Man I totally remember the vlogs before vlogs were a thing.
Aaron saying he was in FD and didn't want to win? Do you jump in bed naked with a girl to chill and actually watch Netflix also? Bit of a bummer listening to you trying to kill peoples FD dreams and aspirations but great interview none the less! Thanks for the content.
lol
neat hearing both sides of that coin :)
We need drift in Mexico! Come here guys
Not sure if it was margaritas or something a bit more medicinal 🤣
aye! Margs 100%
144 lol I’ll take your word for it man, looking forward to seeing you back and shredding in FD
RAWSIN13 them some strong margaritas lol
I think sometimes things are just meant to be like things were just lining up for him.
32:00 woman chasing the number one enemy of racing success because during that time you should’ve been in the shop busting your tail to make sure everything is 100% ready to go or finding that little edge over the competition
Check his I.D. he looks a bit short in the tooth to be swilling on malts liquor.
hahaha ID'd everywhere I go!! lol
Well, mentality doesn't come from completely not allowing yourself to live normally. You make the claim that drivers like Matt Field can't have a girlfriend, can't do normal things with there life. There are plenty of drivers that have added behind the scenes racing work to there daily lives. But some drivers do work harder and add more behind the scenes work to there weekly routine, and there are others that don't have as much time working on them. Chelsea is one guy that does have a great balance of his racing work and outside life. He's married and yet runs his drift school. Vaughn is still with all his programs and yet has a whole family he takes care of. And there are the drivers like matt that definitely put a lot of time for racing into there life. You can allow however much into your life that can still allow you to be good at what you do and get you where you want to go. There is a way where you can balance everything and become successful, even at grassroots it's still possible. Just time in different places
Just a note, Chelsea driver for a team and doesn’t work on the mustang, transport it, or build it. Matt operates his whole team.
I honestly miss is 20b Corolla
Jesus Christ. Let Nate talk.
This. At the end. He kept trying to guess what he was going to say. Nate turning it around with the opposite. Aaron was obviously excited and loved it
This is literally big brother by kanye west
Why the guy on the left twitch so much
just way toooo hyped!
Waving back does not qualify for approachable. Zero answers on his social channels unless its flattering him. C`mon
Appreciate you checking out the interview!
Huh?
the guy is posting many vids onboard, but when asked for example to explain to the noob, what is being achieved with that technic and some details in response is always the BIG SHOT syndrome of ignorance, like he got born knowing it. We all start from somewhere right? Anyways wish him good and wellness. And you guys are better with respecting your fans. Peace
This was a good interview. Don't be salty kids!
@@DidKOssss they can't answer everyone dude, but 144 is him. FYI 🤣🤣
Fucking hilarious.
agreed!
Sorry Nate youre not coming off the couch and winning a pro 1 event. Those days are over which is why the current guys literally drift non stop. You can believe you can do it all day long but actually doing it is another thing. The level of FD is going up so fast
Put me in coach, who's got the ride available, I'll drive pro1 right now and aim for the top. *I will say, I understand where you are coming from and I agree the current pro's are real real talented, But you won't take away my drive to aspire for that championship. If I listen to you, maybe I never get off the couch... so I best keep my mindset and aim to win. Love the feedback tho.
@@144.natehamilton Im not trying to take away anything from you but im just being a little more realistic lol Ive been following you on ig for years and id like you see you back in the boxing ring also
CajunWarrior all love dude! Think big, we will get there
@@144.natehamilton Fuk all that noise. Handle your biz young gawd. Wreck shop. Let fantastic voyages unlimited handle your livery.
Girlfriend? In this economy??
Another S chassis ruiner
fully agree, but I can say, Ive only had 2 in my entire career, so Id like to think I make them last quite some time as I ruin them... :)
144 lmao true
If we want make drift easier for pepole to get in to is get rid of the bigest problem with drift cars the engines. As wack as they are Electric Motors have less moving parts there for less to get rong and go rong. so in stend pepole can Focus on suspension setup and seat time. And if we could get companies that biuld electric cars to biuld them as platforms Motorsport instead of appliances
And i dont think pepole will stop drifing with engins cuz itl all ways be more baller to have one
Electric motor powered opens a whole different can of worms there’s very few people that actually would be able to keep it together or tune it
With electric power instead of simply turning down boost on a gas motor to take power out you’re changing settings that you just about have to be a engineer to fully understand
Not to mention with electric due to the instant torque instead of doing preventive maintenance on the gas engine you’re constantly going threw the drive train fixing stuff
