Hi dave its Phil from Tyne and Wear, I've been cleaning PVC for years and the best stuff to use is" screwfix no-nonsense degreaser " It's £7-99 for 5 litres and gets the plastics looking as white as Simon cowells teeth 😁 I spray it all over gutters and fascias, Will my da components trident spray nozzle and gardiner backpack, Then leave it 5 minutes then remove with my telescopic jet wash lance...
Another good video Dave, Only thing for people to watch out for is mixing their own SH mix for upvc , if not mixed properly it can leave tiger striping on soffits and fascia. Using the constant flow it’s already diluted down to a safe ratio. I still like to jet the gutters, brackets, unions and soffits first then attack with the brush. Labour saving. Hot water is good too. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Say more about these Tiger Stripes - I'm getting more into softwashing and would like to avoid problems. Would simply filling a backpack half way - adding chemical and then filling with more water be sufficient to get a well mixed solution?
Items from DA components are fabulous. Make life so much easier bronze wool, walnut pads, chemical applicator tool, mayker handysleeve. Darren Ansbro is a top guy to deal with and always happy to offer help and advice. Pop DA components in your internet favourites. Top guy and top firm
I spoke to Darren once when I was in a pub down town. What a very approachable lad who is very engaging and friendly. He said to me if I ever needed any advice, don't hesitate to phone him. A true gent 👍
Great stuff dave, thanks for walking us through what you use. I use similar stuff bar the ionic products. G101 is another good cleaner. Catch up soon bro
I’m looking to start up in the next couple of months and will be offering FSG & conservatory roof cleans but I’m just not sure what to purchase. I keep hearing about Ubik and Virisol being left on for too long causing issues which worries me. I’ve heard that Screwfix degreaser is just as good and doesn’t cause any issues if left on for too long.
iv never had a problem with them but the key is to not let them dry out before you wash them off. if you are unsure though it always better to be careful.
@@squeakycleandave1 Cheers Dave, think I might stick with the Screwfix Degreaser for starters being as apparently that doesn’t cause any damage, and then move onto the ubiks once I’m up to speed and know what I’m doing.
Love this chemical review. The rubout is also great to remove marks on upvc that the pink stuff and bronze wool doesn't get out somehow. Bronze wool and walnut pads are awesome from DA components. I made a custom battery pump sprayer to apply my upvc chemicals for £60. I didn't fancy the ionics constant flow/green gorilla rebranded unit for the £600 expense for my new business.
I think there is an upgrade kit for the backpack so hypo can sprayed through it. Probably replace the corrodible components with plastic or stainless steel.
Do you think pure water window cleaning is causing the UPVC and powder coated windows frames to oxide? If pure water attracts minerals perhaps its sucking out the chemicals that bind paints and plastic together? I’d be interested to hear any comments from other window cleaners.
From experience it’s the south facing windows that are in the sun all day that always have the most problem with oxidising I used to clean a pair of semi detached cottages. They had them both painted at the same time. The one stopped me from going after they were painted as they said WFP damaged the frames. 5 years on they were both repainted again and the one I was cleaning was in better condition than the one that hadn’t been cleaned
@@squeakycleandave1 Yeah I think damage from sunlight is underrated as an explanation - this is a really good reason architects say to have deep overhangs e.g. wider soffits than is normal if you want your house to suffer less wear from rain and sun - even a few inches makes a giant difference.
Great vid as always Dave, i got recommended on to try Bar Keepers Friend powder. This is my go to when CIF (first) , pink stuff (second) dont manage to shift - Its good on your pans to in the house ! A bottle of Bar keeper friend in the van just in case
I have used the ionic contact cleaner in a trolley system, with a da components nozzle, it will foam up but not as much as the ionic system, don't waste your money on the ionic system use a backpack it is much cheaper, as long as you get the stuff up where you want it, let it soak then give it a good scrub, job done.
We've had good results with tap water and elbow grease obviously letting about 3 minutes worth of pure water through before we use the brushes on glass again.
Great review on the products Dave 👍🏻 I use the constant flow from ionic & yes it’s expensive but it’s a great bit of kit, leaves the facia/soffits whiter & longer, deffo recommend using the jet boat 👍🏻
Hi. Glad you find the videos useful. What sort of thing are you thinking of with the connectors. Rectus vs Slick connect. Is that the sort of thing you mean
@@squeakycleandave1 If you decide to make the video - have a section about 'magic water keys' - I make them up (ABC window cleaning on TH-cam explains it) for a connector that fits all hose and fitting types for when I'm working with other people.
Hi Dave. Is there anything you find that the Unger Rubout does better than the Pink Stuff? So far I find the Pink stuff works wonders on PVC at about 89p a tub
@@squeakycleandave1 I haven't heard you mention the melamine pads? It is true they disintegrate but you can buy them from Aliexpress 50 at a time for nothing and I've never seen anything as effective with hand scrubbing. I use grade 0000 steel wool - cif but any cream abrasive will do and the melamine pad in a kind of sandwich. It usually blows the customer's mind because it can be pretty fast to remove all the built up gunk - not as fast as spraying a chemical but very hard to beat in areas the customer can see up close.
