    Excellent video, and one of the first of its kind that I've seen. You pointed out a host of hidden benefits and advantages to bagged mulch that aren't immediately apparent. Thank you and well done!

    I love your video! I'm a petite woman so spreading bag of mulch it's easier for me, I've done it and think it's easy and quicker. Thanks for an awesome video 👍

    Man, this was just what I was looking for! I have two pallets of bagged mulch showing up today, and traditionally I would do as you started out saying--place bags around area first. I was thinking there had to be a more efficient way--and there you go--you "laid" it out how to doing it!! Thanks, and good luck with your business!

    Bending to spread may limit you to 2cy / hr. I spread 3--4cy / hr. and have a 16cy / day limit so that I don't wear myself out. I've been laying mulch for over 30 years. One thing worse than lifting material is lifting it twice.

      I've done it both ways and this is much easier for us. shoveling into a wheelbarrow is a lot more work than sliding a bag onto it from above and then pouring that bag out. Much less mess and easier cleanup. To each their own though. 16 yards by yourself is impressive.

    This is brilliant! Just bought a bunch of mulch. I've never mulched before. My dad always used to do the mulching. This is super helpful! We got the Scott's brand. Is Scott's an okay brand? Thank you!

    • @QuietLawn
      @QuietLawn  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Awesome! Yes, I like Scott's and we used to use it exclusively. It's just more than double the price it was and hard to get customers to pay the extra so we switched.

    Best my manager could do was $3:18 per bag... That's ordering 4,000 bags. We always run bags, much easier.

      I think we're close to that now. Prices went up a good bit last year. We switched to Scott's Premium mulch since the price wasn't much different and there seems to be a good bit more mulch packed in the bag. The 1.5 cu ft bags have more mulch than the 2 cu ft bags we bought before in the generic brand.

    4:36 for anyone looking to get to the point... Spoiler Alert** he cuts open the bag at the top and dumps it...WOW what a solution

      I disagree. The idea of using a wheelbarrow makes it much easier on the back…and much quicker. I like his bag solution as well.

    I've been mulching for years and I will say bagged mulch offer some benefits for small jobs, but I can't see it possibly being more efficient than bulk in the long run. Those pallets are taking up more space than a trailer would. You're having to load the bags by hand before getting to the job unless you have a machine to lift them. Bulk mulch requires some extra cleanup, but throwing away all those bags takes a little time too. Bulk requires more upfront cost because you'll need a setup to haul it. With bulk your estimating has to be spot on. With bulk you're getting way more for your money's worth, especially if you buy from the same place often. Bagged mulch is really hard to do in my opinion. I would never attempt to do more than a yard of bagged mulch at a time. Meanwhile I do 12 plus yards of bulk mulch by myself and still feel good at the end of the day. It could be a mental thing since 12 yards worth of bagged mulch looks more overwhelming to me than a pile of loose mulch. I don't even think you could haul 12 yards of mulch on pallets to a job without a large trailer and a forklift to load it before heading to the job. I've also never seen bagged mulch that's meets my quality standard.

    Did you see the huge waste from the plastic bags as opposed to your eco friendly model?

      Exactly what I was thinking too. Way too much plastic that is likely not recyclable too.
