The population preset is truly my new favorite feature added the foundation of this game was so well thought out the customization options are incredible.
Also, the busstops to bring random strangers in, very cool.
Oh man, seeing how the lots move made me so happy. I remember trying to move them in TS3 -- it was so hard to find a spot where they'd actually place down! Here, you can just drop lots straight onto the road if you really want to. Love it.
How incredible, CAW for TS3 was such a great tool but this is something entirely different.
It's clean, user friendly, and boy oh boy am I eager to cause chaos and create!

I’m on the same boat, my imagination is exploding with so many region ideas, some creepy some beachy,some downtown, and Lores for each of them with character ideas as well. I haven’t felt like this since CAW was released.
Well in sims 3 you can change terrain textures color of sky water and put special effects animals objects and more, you can create Halloween worlds or big Citys like New York ,so is different
@@karelctvrtek426 oh I recall, waiting for a new pack to get their textures imported into CAW and new objects 🥹 then the horrible day came when they stopped updating the tool 😭
@@karelctvrtek426You can here as well. You just need to use a third party tool like Unity to get it into the game; it doesn’t come built into the game, but it also means you get way greater freedom & flexibility in what type of terrain you can create.
I love that you guys WANT us to create our own things in this game. It's so refreshing not having to work against a game's engine and the limits that devs put on it, but to be helped and given the tools to do whatever we want. I adore that you support medieval or post apocalyptic heavily modded games, large cities and bustling towns. Hearing you say that you want to see what the community makes really makes me happy. You guys are doing an amazing job here :)
Some things I'd like to see incorporated with this tool include; snapping lots to the road (and setting a certain side as the front of the lot), custom terrain painting and sculpting, sea and sky parameters for adding ambiance, changing world textures for grass, roads, sidewalks etc. The custom population tool and demographics are exciting and very well thought out. This is one of my favorite updates so far im super excited for the unity video.

I haven't been able to create a custom world since Sims 2 because the Sims 3 world editor was way too overwhelming. This world editor is amazing! Having pre-made terrain is a huge help to those of us with less time, and less terrain modeling skill, (I'm terrible at it.) And the forever stairway is hilarious but also that feature is so brilliant and I am so grateful for it! Being able to place houses anywhere and not ruin the terrain is the best, and so is giving us the ability to build in weird places off the road. And the population editor is so cool! I can't wait to try building my own world.

Right!? Like he was seemingly embarrassed by it, but I was just like "that is so freaking awesome!" And just think we can make some ridiculously awesome Aztec temples or such with those mechanics. :)

Honestly, *this* video made me really realize the vision you have for the game more than any of the others. It took the game to a new level.
But you guys, later down the line, have to make a terrain editor built-into the game. While I know how to use unity I won't, probably, do it for this.
What I loved about The Sims 2 and 3 was the tools we had to create our own maps. Today it's super important in a game to have infinite possibilities on creating what you want in the game. So to see all that in Life by you but I'm so happy and I can't wait to discover all this 😍I hope with all my heart that with this game we will really be able to create everything we want in maps, assets, gameplay, clothing, interactions and so on. We would need to have, as in Hytale (the competitor of Minecraft), all your software and creation tools to create endlessly. May this game be endless in its possibilities. The dream 😇
Imagine creating your own cult in this game.temple on mountain, goddess statue with garden around town,traditions,religous festival events,prayer ritual task.. like in bali & thailand.
Or bring back lost civilization.
There is so many things we can create!
At 18:48 u can see demographics of your town, it's almost like we can create our own country!

I would love to see an ancient Greece world! 🏛You could make everything needed, from buildings and clothing to temple rituals and sports. It could seriously be a very accurate representation of what it would have looked like, we have so much knowledge of the architecture, culture and religion. And it would be a living world, with people doing ancient Greece things milling around.

Something I would love to see in the future is 4-lane and other road options. I know I’m going to see how far I can go with building skyscrapers and row and terraced houses to create a more urban feeling world.
Regardless, this feature truly looks amazing! I LOVE that population editor! 😂💜
7 mins in and im already QUIVERING with excitement!!! Players are going to go absolutely crazy with their creativity. Can’t wait to see if the challenges they are going to make holy moly!! YALL BETTER ADVERTISE THE CRAP OUT OF THIS GAME!

Add that with being able to set the weather/seasons for a world in the future. That would be very cool.
Neat 📸 I can already see people making all kinds of fantasy worlds with these tools. I kinda want a redwood forest town from the 70's, hope someone with skills can make that happen!

The custom population presets, trove editors, and region editor are all gamechangers in my book. I can think of a handful of mods I would normally need that will not be necessary with these tools. Also the trove editor would be great for creating some lore in the game. Maybe a certain mythical item only appears once a year in a cave high up in the mountains that is hard to access or something.
I just want to build mines, quarries, and any other sort of resource producing area...

I sleep and dream about this game! Everything about it attracts me! There's just one detail, the conversations, I mean, the characters are a little lifeless. Other than that, the game is flawless!
You are doing an incredible job! I would like to make content for the internet, just to have the chance to get Life By You before early access(what a shame)!

This! This is what I want, and I try to do this with Sims 2, but not only the game is limited, but it's also too unstable. This is what I love the most about LBYs design over the others. ❤

1:20 All of this is fantastic and excites me like you can not believe! But it does further reinforce my belief that we NEED cellphones to be optional. There is no way we can have a Wild West themed world with a cell phone in everyone's holster instead of a gun lol. Or any other world or time other than our current one.
I'm sorry but that simply will not do...
This is why I hate the cellphone not being a purchasable object as opposed to an imbedded part of the UI. Because now some modder will have to mod an override.

Terrain tools is so necessary for change mounting and shape of the world also paint texture if you wanna make a world without grass and make another more big city , or medieval
I think you'll have to go further into advanced modding with unity to accomplish stuff like that. But I have no doubt that many people will be building incredible worlds with those tools, and you'll have plenty of options if it's not something you'll want to take on yourself.
I'm sure other players will build wonderful worlds... And I will play in them ❤🎉

Loving this for those who are wanting this much customization. For me personally, I was lost the entire time, and this is too in depth for me. I can only imagine the cool regions others will create, but I do wish it seemed a bit more intuitive so that a person like myself wouldn't feel intimidated attempting to create their own.
Still, looks awesome! I'm just so much more invested in how characters look and behave than anything else.
You could start by making very small regions I suppose or by downloading others creations and editing them to learn all the bits. I know I will be watching a lot of the tutorials while I make stuff because it's a lot of steps 😂
You should add a "stick to road" button for when placing lots.
Hey solid video! These vids can give me a mix of hope and uneasy vibes, mixed feelings as anticipation builds. But this one not only showcased a lot of powerful tools, but was communicated well by Willem.
I get the impression you have faith in a gamer’s creativity, something a lot of studios fail at. Hoping this is a true game changer!

Wow thats amazing! I didn‘t build worlds since S2 and I‘m excited!!! So many options I want to test. But I would like a button with the option to turn off cars so you can build a city/village that resemble the past where the people simply don‘t have/had them.
I would also like other designs for the roads that you can choose from. The preset is very American, but an asset for European streets, South Asian streets or sandy roads (for the remote village) could be really atmospheric.

Yeah, that would be extremely beneficial. I love the feature, but you're right that we need to be able to customize the look of it to help it better blend in with whatever world we're going to be creating.

I cant wait to dig into the creative tools, the fact that we can have worlds of a different thematic is excellent!
So, can we create different sub regions in the map, like countryside, downtown, beachside, industrial area, etc.? And if so, can we make the populations in each one, favor lots in their own sub-region so that the countryside old farmers prefer to hangout in the barn themed cafe near their homes rather than the surfer cafe on the other side of the town? And is it possible to create a hermit in the mountains and not see him randomly around the town?
I started learning coding for many reasons, but one of the reasons was how excited I got at the customization available in this game! I can't wait to start trying things out and making mods for LBY.

It'll be interesting to see how people will make their own landscapes as well with the respective navmeshes. That will really expand things, I'm fully convinced now, this game is going to be awesome!
So region is like the town and sub-region is like the neighborhood? Can we set demographics for sub-regions like we can with regions?

This is AMAZING, I know you are going to make those who have been wanting to really be able to create their own worlds, especially unusual worlds, VERY happy! I'm going to probably just get other peoples created worlds at least to start, I only ever tried that with The Sims 2, I never even tried to use the one with The Sims 3, I am one of those who get overwhelmed easily with these tools like this has, though I will probably try at some point, I might be able to learn how by watching videos! I mean back in the days of TS2 and TS3 we didn't have a bunch of people on TH-cam showing people how to make worlds for those games, like we will probably have now with LBY, so I will have to see if I can learn how, but it's good to have that as a option!
I only one thing I hope will be maybe added as an option, being able to somehow make the lots change to fit the area more, like if you don't want it, you don't have to use it, but if you want it, you can have something that will allow it to automatically change the shape of the lot to match the curve or the road you place it on, but if you don't want that, then it won't do it, if that makes sense, like if the road is more rounded, the lot on that side will be rounded to fit the road shape in that area! I really never liked the way the lots would stay squared off no matter what! Sure I don't want a big hill or mountain to affect the lots necessarily affect the lot, but maybe it's also an option for those that would!
Back praising, I love the population options in the game, I want to be able to say I want a small population or only a certain amount of each age or genders and so on, I have ALWAYS wanted that, especially ever since TS3, but even more so with TS4, I don't like to have the game pushing tons of randomized characters all the time, without being able to adjust it when I want to!
I hope we will be able to create people with pointed ears so we can have a world of aliens, elves or any other stranger people in the game, I like to create my own weird creations, not just what is the normal supernaturals or whatever the game decides is allowed!
I think if people give Life By You a real chance, it may become the best life simulation game ever, at least to date, it certainly can be the most creative and freeing then any other game period! 😉😊
I love how we can create a population especially for a particular region. Will there be any way to stop residents of a region randomly appearing in another region? Like we could invite them for a visit but we won't just bump into them in a shop. This way we can treat some regions as far away, the sort of distance you wouldn't travel just to buy a coffee.

The concepts in this video are next level, the only thing that i stopping this game from realising it's full potential is the ugly, low-quality characters and animations. If this was done to a high quality level, this game would be unstoppable.

Quite impressed with the level of detail we'll be able to create within our custom regions! Also I saw Child and Teen categories in one of the menus - First time I've seen anything other than Adult!
Love the freedom and creativity i can already think of so many different worlds i want to create!
This is absolutely game changing I know their in game mod modes look amazing so far but but being able to make our own worlds from scratch in just a couple clicks is insane I’m beyond excited for this game

Can you turn Universal Basic Income off?
Yes, Rod said he'll make sure you can turn it off.
In case he forgets, you can create a tiny mod which does that in less than a minute.
Create a new Mod, click on Configuration -> Economy and change the number of WeeklyMinimumWage from 250 to 0. Done!
This is one of my more favorite features about this game. I really appreciate the amount of work that is going into this to allow more freedom of gameplay and exploration.
PS: I think I might've missed the invite for the Discord, and I joined the email subscription. Maybe I didn't make it on the list? I hope I can join the server at some point. @lifebyyou
If you missed it you're too late Discord invites were sent twice and you only had a week to accept. Going to have to wait till June 4th now.

Whoa! This is Amazing! I'm excited for this game. World building has always been one of my favorite things to do in life simulation games. I love how many things I can do with the tools that we will be given.
I'd love to recreate a region that I use for the fictional stories I write. The stories take place in a big city with a mountain backdrop as well as a river from the mountain lake that flows into the sea.
All the possibilities!! I can't wait to play with everything...
For me, as a hobby mapping dev for black ops 3 custom zombies, its a nice thing to have, since i like custom made worlds

I've been all over the place with this game, hate it, love it, back to hating it but this video has kind of made me think hmmm....maybe I should give it a go. I love the idea of building my own world and would definitely like to do my own terrain. Still not sure I can get over the graphics though, but hopefully gameplay will distract me from how clumpy and old looking the graphics are.
This convinced me to give this game a try. I love building historical worlds in the sims 2. Ts4 makes it really hard because of the lack of customization, but this game seems to have a lot of potential for historical gameplay, once people figure out the modding tools.
Question, when you place down the café, can you put the building down at an angle to make it look like a corner building. I hope that makes since?

Can you set hair styles and surnames for groups in Population Presets?
Love your video, that was actually a small grove of trees. A grotto is generally a canyon with running water, wading pools, and small waterfalls. Also well known as bikini paradise for college aged males.
Someone has to create The Simpsons and Springfield.

If the game requires to have roads to place lots, I would like to have road textures that allow to make rural and antique worlds, like an old west town with ranches out in the prairie with no asphalt roads to get there. Or a forest town lost in the middle of the woods, to which one can only access through narrow and grass / dirt looking paths / roads. Again, Not asphalt roads.
Another world I want to make is an old and small village with only a few families living there, and that are miles away from any other villages. In case I have not stressed this enough, please! I want roads that no lot look like 21st century streets or highways.
I hope this is possible because I am very much looking forward to getting the game in Early Access just to try to make those types of worlds.
Ok that's another good reason for my suggestion of being able to set the timescale of the game time speed; stairs that take over an hour to climb! In RL it wouldn't take that long.
