I'll keep saying this. The battle of Korenevo was the decisive point of the Kursk Incursion. Without this city the Ukrainian offensive was stopped in its tracks and with it the Russians were able to launch the Snagost and Lyubimovka counteroffensives.
Not to mention according to this map it has a branching railway. I wouldn't be surprised if that allowed Russians to orangize and transfer easily their troops and launch counteroffensive which seems after that all went downhill for the Ukrainians (to be fair, I tought from the very beggining this was a strategic mistake).
@@al4605 I don't live there, but it was marked like a railway. Either way it is a very important strategic point that certainly helped in logistics and organization. At very least it is more functional then what ever was built here in the Balkans.

There's a theory about this offensive was carried out in request of US because this was in a election year (ofc those are stupid theory) but my opinion Ukraine trying to divert Russian troops far away from Donbas and invading Russia will create more proxy war and propaganda tools by Ukraine to show that they're still not done (yet)
@@picklepee2771 the last few seconds of the video shows ukraine going on an offensive and regaining a bit of land, which in the same day also caused russia great vehicle losses in said area and ukraine took it back with no vehicle losses as far as im aware. they have not lost this war in any way, merely losing ground while causing russia losses.

Up to 200,000 Russian troops are concentrated against the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the south, and the activity of these troops is growing the spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, Voloshin, reported that these forces cover the Zaporizhia, Dnieper directions and Crimea. The activity of Russian troops is gradually increasing - every day they carry out up to 7 air strikes with guided bombs and 5 unguided missiles. In addition to aviation, the Russian Armed Forces use attack and army aviation (helicopters) to strike at Ukrainian Armed Forces positions and frontline settlements. Yesterday The Economist reported that Russia may launch an offensive on Zaporozhye.
This really was the worst decision they could have made. Instead of using those forces to directly address the avdivka advance past the city then they wouldn’t be losing more and more ground and soldiers because literally all Russia did was send in reserves.
This was a similar tactical mistake Hitler made when he directed his forces,half to the oil fields to the south,and the rest to the Russian offensive that he believed he could be victorious.Had he concentrated on one initiative,he could have been successful before Stalin’s eastern divisions could be brought back to the western front to stop them.Due to knowing Russian resistance in these areas was weak,he was looking for some material gains to claim,while sliding back in the north.These gains will be short lived.

It was their last bet into pushing the war into a draw to maybe have peace negotiations, it failed miserably tho.
