- In this Europa Universalis IV [EU4] video, we play as the nation of Kilwa. Kilwa in EU4 has a great start and an excellent set of missions with a heavy focus on colonizing. In this campaign we attempt to get the Queen of Mercury and the Swahili Persuasion achievements. These achievements require us to take a province in India and convert the East Indies to Sunni. This was an incredibly fun and chill campaign that I would reccomend to anyone interested in playing a colonial game but is tired of the usual suspects in Europe.

Hey! This is on top of my list, thanks man!
One tip for future colonizers: if you vassalize the one of spice island nations, give them the other province, you have a vassal that will colonize around them. Really helps
They are called Ternate and Tidore and on the left side of the mission tree for both they have 4 connected missions each with a free colony that spawn half done. The first mission completes, spawning the colony, when one owns the others starting island and the next mission completes when that first colony is completed, which then spawns a new colony. All the missions work the same. This kicks off their colonies and forces them into focusing on colonisation for the rest of the game. Knowing this, you can cheese it.
Conquer one, let's say Tidore, and vassalise. Then conquer the other, in this case Ternate and give it to Tidore. That will complete their first colony mission and spawn their first colony for them. Then diplo annex Tidore and take their starting island and colony. Then release Ternate as a vassal and give them Tidore's starting island, this will complete their first colony mission also. Then diplo annex Ternate and their colony too. You now should have both Tidore's and Ternate's islands and colonies. Make note which colony belonged to which. It's advised to colonise the actual clove islands yourself here as well as their colonies can spawn there and potentially not get the cloves. Once the colonies you took from Tidore and Ternate have completed, release both as vassals and give them their respective completed colonies. This will complete boths second mission and spawn their next colonies. They'll work down this mission tree themselves now and both will pick ideas to give colonists as they need them for the colonies, and voilà, you have 2 colonial vassals! Subsidise them some ducets to afford the colonists and watch them colonise the spice islands and Phillipines for you! When they're done, simply diplo annex.
Nice! You set provinces of interest west of Sofala, they'll get claims on Mutapa for Kilwa :)
Hopefully you continue this campaign, it was awesome.
Great vid as usual
Such an amazing run!!
Kilwa is really fun nation to play
Kilwa was my first wc way way back, after failed attempts with hordes, Mughals, Austria etc. Came without really trying as well. Can easily get Brazil, Rio and Peru first, get a foot in Mexico and gobble it up. All while blocking off expansion into Asia and Australia for the europeans with a few choice provinces in and around south/west Africa. Fun times.
Good stuff
🎉🎉 I love this series so mutch.
How long does he have till eu5 comes out to finish this ? Also will he do this series in eu5?
I just did this run myself. It's the wealthiest I've ever been as a country. I went naval/quality.
Just a heads up in the future, you occasionally forgot to shift+click during peace deals to maximize money

When I play as a Christian nation, I always convert the province before TCing it.
Does the Propagate Religion mechanic ignore if a province is in a TC? Or does a province have to be removed from a TC for it to work?
It ignores it.
@@icepyre thanks, idk how I never realize that
