President Obama in Cedar Rapids, Iowa: The McLaughlins and Middle-Class Tax Cuts

Before President Obama delivered remarks at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, he visited the home of Jason and Ali McLaughlin to discuss the need for Congress to extend the middle-class tax cuts that would prevent a tax hike on all families earning less than $250,000.
As a result of the tax cuts President Obama has already signed into law, the McLaughlin's have received a total of about $4,900 in tax relief over the President's first term. President Obama has committed to extend the middle class tax cuts that expire at the end of this year--if these tax cuts expired, the McLaughlins could face a tax increase of about $2,000.
In his speech, President Obama outlined his plan to build an economy from the middle out, not the top down, by ensuring hard work pays off and responsibility is rewarded, making critical investments in education and clean energy, and by reforming our tax system to restore middle class security and pay down our deficits in a balanced way.

I love how Obama sees the next four years as another step in this journey we're taking with him and using the campaign to check-in with the people he's affecting every single day. It's caring and compassionate men like this that make me want to shout from the rooftops that America's the greatest country on earth. When we're old I know that Obama will be looked at with one some the warmest feelings of any president in history, and this is one of the many reasons why.

When is Obama going to come to my house? That would be sweet. He would probably move me into the White House when he saw how shitty my house is. This President has done a lot of good for Veterans and he has my vote. I am still an unemployed Veteran who is being evicted but I can't be blind to what he has done to help.

The top 2 percent use their tax breaks to buy ferraris, importing luxury items, having overseas bank accounts, and for questionable investments that ultimately dont create jobs but somehow creates wealth for the rich investors.
The rest 98 percent use tax breaks to buy necessities, pay for their children and all that money stays within the country that helps the economy.
