A boss is someone who takes credit A leader is someone who gives credit And you matthias are a spectacular leader! A boss will literally take credit and praise for what their employees put forth while a leader will happily give the credit to their employees for what they do rather then saying it was all their(the leaders) doing
I actually really like this channel because it teaches me a lot about the life of Matthias as a business owner. It's a really nice change of pace from the usual videos Hi-5 is known for.
As a person who has worked at Barnes & Noble, it makes me incredibly happy that you decided to go to an actual bookstore instead of ordering all of those books from Amazon... I personally love bookstores and I'm so happy to see someone else appreciating them and ALL those books, too 👏
My mom says TH-cam doesn’t make you learn! Well I’ve learned a lot on this channel it helps me out on being a leader in my friend group, and it’s hard. So I’ll take those books seriously.
I was worried it was already the end of this series. Good to see I was wrong. *Under promise, over deliver* and keep your personal standards high. I personally try to follow this moto. Maybe you could talk about this aspect in your next video? If it's matches (or even if it doesn't) your way of thinking. It could be interesting to have your input on this. As always, thanks Mat for what you're sharing with us. You're a great person and it shows.
That's one of the reason's I really love your team. You guys can be silly and immature and funny but you can also be serious and when you need to be. I have lots of respect for you guys.
You are honestly my role model I remember coming across team edge when they were in the garage Since then I've watched all videos from hi5 including the employees videos.
This site is great irl view of a CEO who cares about his company and crew. A CEO who's willing to share insight on managing a company and allowing his crew to voice their views about the workplace. I"m not a CEO, but I'm a subscriber to this site.
I just got promoted at my job and now I have to take on more of a leadership role and this video really did help me look at things differently. It’s nice getting advice from someone who’s been a leader for a long time. Thank you, I really appreciate the content your making with this channel.
I love how my children and I have been able to watch y'alls growth throughout the years. I personally love how you shout out your wife and daughter, too sweet! Best TH-cam content for families, in my opinion.
Matt, I'm thirteen years old and don't know what my passion is. I like gaming, I've learned music (stringed instruments), I've tried to make youtube videos. The point that I'm craving for success in my early stages, I really don't know why I'm like this I'm trying to plant the word in my mind "Success is not the key to Happiness, Happiness is the key to Success" I'm just happy to watch hi5 network's channels it cures my anxiety and depression. I hope I could work there when I'm at my legal age. Because you and your team Matt gives me *Happiness* *Thank you Matt, Mahal ko ang Hi5 studios (I love Hi5 studios in Filipino :])*
Originally, I was opposed to the idea of Hi5 Studios becoming more of a business. However, now these are some of my favorite videos to watch on the whole platform. The shift into deep work has 100% positively affected all of the current videos. I will stay tuned for more. Thanks
A christian fiction book I HIGHLY recommend is 'The Shack'. It talks about forgiveness, why evil happens, and has some really cool and interesting perspectives on the trinity! It has really helped me get through some of the "evil" in my own life! You should totally check it out if you haven't already!
It baffles me that Sam is young and I'm actually a year older than her and yet she's so successful and inspiring and just a genuine amazing person with such good opinions and work ethic. I love this channel and the concept of it all, it really helps you see the different sides of a workplace and how they can differ from others as well as giving good advice and tips on how to make things easier and more manageable. I admire that. It's so interesting to get a look into the world of a business owner and it's also lovely to see how you all work together and just click perfectly. Hope you're all doing okay. 😊
I love our vlogs, i especially enjoy these ones because I enjoy seeing the busy side of Hi5. I'm only 18, but I really enjoy the day to day life of a mini corporation, especially when everyone that works there is like one big happy family. And I really enjoy that you don't use clickbait just to get people to watch. When you post, you post because you want to talk about something and i enjoy that more. 👍👍
I absolutely love these videos- I struggle a lot with mental illness and at the moment I’m looking for work after taking a break. These videos have taught me so many lessons about myself and what I really want from life and about working environments which I have never experienced. Matt you are truly an inspiration and thank you for being the most amazing role model and teacher- you have helped me in more ways than you could ever know 💕💕
Something that really helped me with my mental illness is the enneagram test. I took it and it’s shown me my tendencies and how to break past them in a healthy way. It’s shown me what a healthy version of me would look like, and gave me a lot of hope.
The Exec wow I will give it a look!! I’m currently going through my third course of therapy and I’m finally working on bettering myself instead of just pushing through things. You have given me so much guidance and direction in a time that it has seemed like there’s none- thank you so much for everything matt 💕💕
As always great video. Glad to see you posting here again, this channel has some of my favorite content from you. I love that you talked about being friends with the boss. I agree 100% with Sam. I was one of the bosses at my last job and still have friendships with some of the people I worked with. I like to create a sense of family wherever I work. While those boundaries Sam was talking about are important I also think that when everyone gets along and there is good comradery it shows in both the work ethic and attitude. This may not be how everyone views work and each job is different. Even so, I will say it makes it much easier to get up and go to work when you both love what you are doing and love those you work with.
The way you run your companies is really forward. Just hearing on Other channels on how Hi5 is ran is very innovative. Having everyone watch material when it is published to get feedback from the rest of the office is amazing. You have certain times you have to sit down and just work. The implementation of setting cameras around the offices to encourage vlogging. I have never heard of an office being ran the way you run them. You have a very proactive way of approaching the everyday office life and schedule of your employees and that seems like it has greatly benefited your companies and would be very beneficial to other companies how you go about things.
I've been watching since the apartment days and you have come along way. I have loved to see how the company has come along. You have always been an inspiration since I was a kid Matt, I hope to meet you one day thank you for the memories.
This video rly hit hard for me... Due to my health I am unable to handle direct confrontation or speaking my mind, to most I probably seem manipulative or just quiet and it hurts so much... It's nice seeing people who can speak their mind; valuing communication at it's purest. ❤️
I love to see videos that have topics of business-oriented questions and routines. Finding a business like this would be awesome to work in just because of seeing how each co-worker works together. Mathias, you and your team are doing a great job. I hope we meet in the near future.
Great vid! A couple of book recommendations for you. "Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking" by Susan Cain and "Switch: How to Change Things When Change is Hard" by Chip and Dan Heath. These have changed the way I communicate with people and have motivated me to be a better person and employee.
Hey Matt! I love you so much you are LITERALLY A VERY VERY BIG inspiration becuz in one of your old “Matthias” videos you mentioned maybe buying a studio maybe making a video maybe hiring people and that you want to start a business and how it may take 3 yrs or 10 yrs And everytime I se that video it inspires me so much because look at where you are here now! It’s awesome!
I've never really been "buddy buddy" with my bosses. Was always taught "no fraternization" , plus for many years I never stayed at a place more than 8months ( I start to feel trapped I run). Recently I've been good, I've been at my current position for almost 4 yrs. But I think the reason I've stayed is because how welcome the Executives and managers make me feel like we're "family" in a sense. And they always have an open door. I'm even friends with my direct supervisor on social media. I'm worried that when I move I wont find this again. Corporate America is just that Corporate, there is no people, just warm bodies. I love how you run your businesses and that you see your employees as more than employees.
Because of you i bought "Measure What Matters" and honestly im really enjoying it ..its helping me allot personally and the fact that i want to start my own channel and now i love that u recommend books
Had to comment again sorry, but I just absolutely loved the discussion with sam at the end; I've mostly seen them talk in the sketches where Sam is very jumpy and borderline afraid of Matt... This was very nice to see, Matt and sam remind me of me and my dad xD Very wholesome to watch.
I really love theses videos. They are such an encouragement and so informative. I am excited to implement the things I learn from them into my TH-cam channel Challenge Shenanigans. I loved to see how much your team is like a family. I think these videos are a great way to bring your audience (including myself) into that family dynamic. Thanks for taking the time to read this whole comment. Have a great day and God bless!
Love the positivity in all your videos! Even if the topic is started with negativity you never fail to bring out the positive which I truly appreciate! Just an fyi too on the website I tried to leave a suggestion but it wouldn't let me. Idk if your already aware but just wanted to let you know just in case!
I really enjoyed the discussion at the end. I work in a church, and it’s very refreshing to see a similar dynamic outside my workplace as I experience inside it.
Matt this is incredible. My wife and I have been talking about how we are asking the wrong questions. So you to point out a book that addresses those exact ideas. We are definitely checking that one out.
I won't get to watch this until later but I say sure! But you gotta know that they're also there to make sure the job gets done so dont always expect great times and goofing off. There's a time for work and there's a time for play. A good balance is the key to keeping people happy.
videos like this and just generally a lot of your videos, i dont know, they just make me want to join hi5. ive wanted to be a part of it for over a year, but i cant be for more than one reason. there's just so many things about all of you and your community and i just love all of it and i want that in my life. plus, i make videos, not good ones on either channel, but besides that. i dunno. im just rambling, but what you guys do and have hits me hard, in a good way. i love it.
I liked this video. After working so many places throughout the years you get to see all these different types of bosses. And now looking back it's kinda neat to see who was a friend or just a boss etc. Just something cool that you didn't think about in the moment. Great video Matt
I just started working in an Assisted Living Facility as a Resident Care Aide and I really needed to hear some of these things mainly for where I want to be in the future which is a CNA possibly a RN, I'll definitely buy some of the books you mentioned, primarily the Questions Are The Answers book.
Ahhh you’re back! I missed it so much 😂🙈 I thought I’d share with you that when you started this channel, I was working 2 days per week in retail sales. As of this video, I accepted a position as a digital marketing manager at a marketing firm! All of this information is now more than entertaining; it is informative for my new entrepreneurial and leadership role! Thank you so much for all of this amazing information and I look forward to continuing to learn through your videos and my own research. Much respect ✊
I’m reading Subtle Ways of Not Giving A F*ck right now, it’s opening my mind and that’s saying a lot as I have a learning disability due to a physical disability.
I can say that I regret nothing, in hindsight. There are things in life that we all have bad memories of, but for me, I feel as though any person, event etc that has happened in my life has shaped me to be who I am today. As well, people, events etc will continue shaping me as a person and my life until I am no longer here.
This channel was such a great idea, and I've loved it. 120,000 subs, and you just let it slip... It's really unfortunate. This channel is not a fail. You should have been more consistant with it; because I really do love it, and don't follow any of your other channels (personal opinion; I enjoy business stuff). I'm cleaning up my subscribers list and am sad to unsub from this channel. :(
I envy your relationship with your employees so much, Matt. I'm a shift lead at a fast food restaurant and I'm friends with all of the cashiers and cooks but I'm not given any power of enforcement and most of them are young and particularly free-spirited which makes the relationship of respect finicky. I'm sure that Hi5 has it's issues too, everywhere does, but it sounds like a dream compared to my workplace.
The truth is I’ve found power isn’t really all that great. Yeah it works for a while but it erodes and destroys if you lean on it for too long. You can lead even with no power. Communicate. Sit them down and just talk to them 1:1 and tell them how certain things make your job hard and then LISTEN to their responses and validate. Make sure you open up and are vulnerable, If someone is capable of vulnerability they will do the same. It’s human. This will get you 10x the results over any show of force. Lead with love.
I am reading Extreme Ownership right now. 3/4 of the way through. Very interesting. I also love books and am always reading one or two. Love to hear about the ones you guys are reading/suggest.
I love books too, but I usually get them from a second-hand bookstore or a used-but-still-fine copy off Amazon. My relationship with my boss (retail, but a casual country store, been there ten years this month) is friendly, but I wouldn't say we're friends. He's usually in the office, but when I do encounter him clocking in or out or when he comes into the store, if I don't need to ask a schedule-related question, I can chat about random stuff or ask after his little son. I don't think he knows much about me as a person--definitely not as much as some of my coworkers.
Ok so there’s this mobile app called Reflectly that I’ve been using for quite a while to journal my personal goals, and it’s AMAZING! You can write down how your day was, what made your day that way, and it will even ask you questions of the day. It then saves the data of how you said your day was for you to later see your progress. I love it!
Haha best thing ever, “When I go to Barnes & Noble, I go to Barnes & Noble” I could spend days and days at B&N and never get bored. Knowledge is powerful 📚
Really love how the relationship between u as a boss and others as a worker. I wish all work places were like that! The recent dope or nope, I noticed u didn't really wear all black so I'm hoping ur doing well now 💙 keep it up
I would love to work for hi5! You all act like a family there, you talked about regret and the biggest thing that I regret was making a move away from what I knew was good for me and now it’s more of a struggle. I currently work retail and it’s the worst thing but there is nothing better where I am!
Hey Matthias I have been watching since 2015 and still love alle the video's every channel puts out Looking back i remember you Brian and j-fred in your house and now in 4 or more buildings I'm almost done with school and watching you and everything coming together It inspired me and ever since wanted to do something similar (Bring people together and helping them) So i would love to hear wat the pros and cons are of living in that sort of a lifestyle 🤙hope to hear from you🤙
You should read Raddical by David Platt. It's about importing God in the amarican dream. My youth group read it, and it has opened my eyes alot. Great channel! Keep up the great work! Loving the real, raw content.
I love the fact that you are not only your own boss but your own employee like on dope or nope you arnt the boss you have other people running the shoot to as if they are equal rank as you at the moment so it makes you seem really down to earth (I say seem because I dont know you personally)
A boss is someone who takes credit
A leader is someone who gives credit
And you matthias are a spectacular leader!
A boss will literally take credit and praise for what their employees put forth while a leader will happily give the credit to their employees for what they do rather then saying it was all their(the leaders) doing
Elaborate.
I thoght da both words meaning were da same
And...
A boss makes people do things
A leader will take time with people and help them
That last part with i think you can sum it all up with one word that everyone needs to understand. It's called respect.
It has been a while! Glad to see you are still uploading Matt!
PS: Still waiting for that book of yours to come out.
UltraAnish It’s Called BATTLE UNIVERSE
@@abdullahsikander8919 yea, he mentioned it a while back, and idk if he mentioned it in one of his latest videos.
Been hoping for a new video on here Matt!
Also noticed you didnt wear all black in the latest dope or nope. Hopefully things are looking up!
I really enjoy seeing you and the crew being real - introducing some transparency and integrity is really refreshing 👍🏻
@Aidan Atmore26 Having a camera in your face tends to alter personality.

Hey Matt, I love this channel!!! Keep up the great work! ❤
I love books too
When I go to a book store
ITS THE FREAKING HIGHLIGHT OF MY DAY, 🤣
Meha Madan the smell of brand new books ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yee
I can't buy a lot of books even though I love reading books
Cus I'm ugly
Wait what!?
My mom says TH-cam doesn’t make you learn! Well I’ve learned a lot on this channel it helps me out on being a leader in my friend group, and it’s hard. So I’ll take those books seriously.
Why did I never know this channel existed!?!?!?
I've started to do deep work sections and I find them so helpful. Love your vids.

So this channel is how his vlog channel use to be and his vlog channel is now like a The office type of channel. This man is a work horse.

Finished Measure What Matters, amazing book. Thank you Matt, this channel is super helpful!
I will love how Samantha literally recommends a book that I have to read for school but it is a really good book so.

At our Staff PD’s in the beginning of the year, our admin talked about radical candor. Truly valuable in the workspace!

That's awesome you make the effort to answer ALL our questions. Most TH-camrs only answer the questions they want to answer
Please bring back some vids here. I loved the content. This became my favorite channel at Hi5
I love it!
Why you are not posting anything in this channel . It's been 9months please start this channel as your vlog channel or Matthias channel . 😢😢
Night is a great book
Haha best thing ever, “When I go to Barnes & Noble, I go to Barnes & Noble” I could spend days and days at B&N and never get bored. Knowledge is powerful 📚
How did u learn about the legal things like firing people and etc. of running your business? Love the vids learning a lot keep it up!!
MiSTaKeZ That’s a great question! I hope he answers it.
I'm pretty sure he learned from the books and online maybe?
Really love how the relationship between u as a boss and others as a worker. I wish all work places were like that! The recent dope or nope, I noticed u didn't really wear all black so I'm hoping ur doing well now 💙 keep it up
Man's Search for Meaning, great book. I second that recommendation.
Matthias! You need to do more of The Exec!
Awesome topic Matt, without a doubt. The Radical Candor seems very interesting, will check it out. Thank you for the video.
12:43 too bad i don't understand social cues...
Glad your back Matt!!
Love this stuff Matthias. Really inspiring.
I would love to work for hi5! You all act like a family there, you talked about regret and the biggest thing that I regret was making a move away from what I knew was good for me and now it’s more of a struggle. I currently work retail and it’s the worst thing but there is nothing better where I am!
Thank you for this type of videos. They are enlightening . I try to strive towards this type of environment at my work.
Hey Matthias
I have been watching since 2015 and still love alle the video's every channel puts out
Looking back i remember you Brian and j-fred in your house and now in 4 or more buildings

This channel is awesome. It really dives into the reality of Hi5 and being CEO in general. It's very refreshing and I learn a lot!
The One Thing is a great book. You should get the workbook too.
You should read Raddical by David Platt. It's about importing God in the amarican dream. My youth group read it, and it has opened my eyes alot. Great channel! Keep up the great work! Loving the real, raw content.
R.I.P Battle Universe😣😭🤧
I love the fact that you are not only your own boss but your own employee like on dope or nope you arnt the boss you have other people running the shoot to as if they are equal rank as you at the moment so it makes you seem really down to earth (I say seem because I dont know you personally)
