One of the points of the hints for the hunts on Discord - if you get stuck - is to help you to see the point/ask the right question the next time you encounter it. But highly recommended is to persist if you can in thinking for yourself, because you learn better that way: then finding out what other people have done is a real insight into what you are missing. Simon's solve earlier today did that for me. Looking forward to this one.
This was a very fun puzzle to solve! The early symmetry was very pretty and enjoyable. I was amused to see how long it took Mark to place the central 5, which was available right after the initial breakin - by the time he got to it I was rather hoping he'd rule out the higher possibilities on the arrow by noticing the 789 triple already looking at the circle, just so we could avoid the sudoku on 5s as long as possible :)
The way Mark steps away in the middle of the solve to sharpen his katana, and doesn’t bother to edit out the interruption makes me enjoy his videos even more 😅
Definitely going to do this one - in fact, I would have done it before watching, but I got interrupted and ended up without enough time. Thanks, Mark, for bringing the great variety of types and difficulties of sudoku puzzles that you (and Simon) do - it is all welcome, fun, and interesting. Today's lovely vocabulary word was 'inured' which made me realize that I have become a bit inured to all of the wonderful vocabulary used on this channel, too!
I finished in 10:41 minutes. This was a really nice approachable sudoku that used the entropic rules in cool way. It was fun seeing the symmetrical logic and zooming along. As always, it feels good to beat Mark's time. Great Puzzle!
14:48 solve; it's amazing how well this puzzle flows simply by figuring out what the entropy of the initial lines must be to also have a solution for the arrows.
27:03 for me. I blundered about 20% of the way through, but i was colouring as i went and didn't realise the fog wasn't clearing. I filled in the entire grid with the wrong solution that, somehow, didn't have any conflicts. Added about 10 mins to my time. Great puzzle, though!!
While I really enjoy long and difficult solves because they take something daunting and break it into pieces for me to understand, there is something very cool about watching a quick puzzle where you are able to string together multiple steps with different logic. I think it’s maybe easier for me to make the connection of what step leads to what when there isn’t a five-minute pause in progress. I guess it’s like I work on my micro technique rather than my macro strategy, if that makes sense.
14:11 It has a lot of possibilities for seeing 789. 🙂 A nice and short solve, but my time was of course 50% longer than Mark's. Which I think I am happy with.
Edit: ah I see, ANY triplet, not triplets in succession. So once you know AN order, you know the entire order? May I ask - (as I just commented) - what prevents the 479s in r4&5 from being switched?
@@Romenamath once you know 3 digits on a red line then yes, you know that its the same order on that line, but other lines can be different (one line could be low-mid-high, while a different line could be low-high-mid instead as for the order, i'd like a timestamp or something to see which specific 4/7/9 you mean to be switchable
Rows 4 & 5: IF the line in box 6 was merely 2 consecutive triples, rather than a sliding window, they are swappable. ( the line would be 294357, and r{4,5}c{2,4} would be inverted). Mark did not have that as he got to the end via a different route to me ( I was able to solve all but that line even though I'd understood each triplet within a line to be independent, when in fact they're not. ) it's the difference between 'each set of 3' and 'all sets of 3' - especially when they are discussed as 'non-overlapping' later.
First time ever I got a solve time faster than the video length! 16.01. Not faster than Mark's solve though. That'll be the day... Fun and "easy" puzzle.
I think there are two solutions? Column 2, rows 4 & 5. (7/9 pair) Column 4, rows 4 & 5. (4/7 pair) Column 8, rows 4 & 5. (4/9 pair) It seems like you could change the order of the pairs and it works both ways, no matter where you put the 4, 7 and 9.
As I sit here and play on this gridly My solving skills seem a bit piddly I could rant on the topic Of red lines entropic With numbers so high, low and middly.

This was an approachable puzzle. One disturbing issue: either my memory's going, or I managed to fill out an arrow (the 134) utterly oblivious. (Backtracking) It was my memory. I remember it now: it couldn't be 3+3=6 so it had to be 1+3=4.
Psst--the sudoku # pad can be switched in the settings so it wit be same orientation as on the computer. There is also a setting (under 'visual') that will 'draw arrows above lines' so they can be seen better. (Mark's is already on.)
Faster than Mark I can't believe it that happens like once a year (and Ik i'm not explaining myself and i didn't paint the pretty picture, but it's still an accomplishment)
? In the version I watched I saw an empty chair for approx. one second, due to thoughtful editing. Did it get re-uploaded? (That usually loses previous comments though)
55 minutes. I'm definitely too much of a rookie 😅 Got distracted by my cat and family several times but definitely didn't find it as easy as most. And even did some guesswork, but pretty early on and then it was logic
I really appreciate your efforts! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (mistake turkey blossom warfare blade until bachelor fall squeeze today flee guitar). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
The rules annoyed me a little in this one. "each set of three digits includes..." to me doesn't mean that they follow the same pattern, just that the line is broken into sets of three digits. So while I initially came to the correct conclusion, I spent a great deal of time then second guessing the wording of the rules because I figured the low digits could appear anywhere in along the set of three.
I like having easier puzzles that lesser mortals like me can have a crack at without having a couple of hours spare., though maybe it would be fairer on Simon and Mark if they were split more easily (might just be me, it it feels like Simon gets an absolute stinker most days - of fourse it might just be thst Mark solves faster than Simon)
Early on in the solve, I noticed you said there was going to be another 7+2=9 in box 3. You verbally stated the correct equation, but you placed a 6 instead of a 9 without correcting yourself. You just moved on, like you usually do.
He mistyped a digit. I do it all the time. He did correct himself when he noticed what he had done (6:40). It's easy to not notice immediately, as your attention has already drifted elsewhere.

First thought: No threes in the corner.
22:45 for me. That was fun! Now to watch Mark's solve.
The way Mark steps away in the middle of the solve to sharpen his katana, and doesn’t bother to edit out the interruption makes me enjoy his videos even more 😅
Nice to discover there is something interesting in this video. The puzzle was so easy that I did not feel like watching Mark's solve.
I like the easier puzzles, since they are the only ones I can do.
A blast for all newcomers and still good fun for others too 😊
Definitely going to do this one - in fact, I would have done it before watching, but I got interrupted and ended up without enough time. 8:32 ... fun and foggy
Nice puzzle!
A fun puzzle, quick and easy

14:48 solve; it's amazing how well this puzzle flows simply by figuring out what the entropy of the initial lines must be to also have a solution for the arrows.
I started with 5 x 5s in the grid, including the middle cell.
Oups, I just finished the puzzle and did not consider doing sudoku to fill the middle cell 😅
Definitely a nice Geniously Approchable Sudoku
the middle cell was my intended start of the solve path for fog clearing
21:28 - this one was very fun. I love it when an easy one comes our way.
Finished in 10:09. Fun and approachable!
Who else loves it when Mark’s doorbell rings? 😂
11 mins 46 secs to solve this good sudoku
Felt wonderful, easy & fun
So officially again faster than the great Mark, yea!!!!!
Please can we have more at this level! Much as I try I can't handle anything harder. You are both a joy to watch 😊
This got to be the fast puzzle I've solved so far! (21 min) Thanks for featuring some easier ones, so we also can feel smart once in a while. 👍🖖
10:36 for me. That was a nice and relaxing one.
Yes, definitely want a good sprinkling of easy puzzles, though don't mind some hard ones once in a while as well.
25:18 on this one. Delightful!
18:45, Happy for you to do more 'easier' puzzles.
00:19:29 - very nice!😊
Very much enjoying the "easier" puzzles. I am an avid but casual player, and I find this level of difficulty much more enjoyable!
Absolutely beautiful puzzle.
Agree! Fun puzzle.
This was great. Thank you!
4:13 for me. Easy and enjoyable. Lovely puzzle!
16:35. Approachable fog!!!! YAY!
This is a nice, easy one. A before dinner solve. Thanks!
9:22 for me - good to take some easy ones every once in a while
A really nice fog puzzle, the symmetry definitely helped a lot! Finished in 7:51 (conflict checker off), many thanks to Wypman for it!
I always want to put a 5 in the middle in a symmetry puzzle, and this one let me do it really early without cheating!
17:50 for me. It is striking that all the 23 pairs which are pencilmarked at the very beginning, are disambiguated at the very end!

10:45, thank you!
13.53 for me. Fun! Thanks.
16:35. Nice puzzle :)
19:30 for me. Fun little puzzle.
minor rule tweak: i forgot the term "orthogonal" (sharing an edge) for the lines, sorry if the horizontal/vertical caused confusion
Edit: ah I see, ANY triplet, not triplets in succession. So once you know AN order, you know the entire order?
May I ask - (as I just commented) - what prevents the 479s in r4&5 from being switched?

9:11 for me. Nice puzzle!
I like a shorter puzzle every once in a while because I can do those before work. The 60+ minute ones, I can only do when I get home.
Love a CTC fog of war puzzle. I especially love a CTC fog of war puzzle I can do!
I'm looking for more of the ones where the fog clears in random places
First time ever I got a solve time faster than the video length! 16.01. Not faster than Mark's solve though. That'll be the day... Fun and "easy" puzzle.
Very entertaining! Finished in 13m - could have been even faster if I were a less clumsy typist.
Mark gets thrown by the 180° rotational symmetry of the puzzle, and hits 6 instead of 9. (jokes, jokes :) )
I think there are two solutions?
Column 2, rows 4 & 5. (7/9 pair)
Column 4, rows 4 & 5. (4/7 pair)
Column 8, rows 4 & 5. (4/9 pair)
It seems like you could change the order of the pairs and it works both ways, no matter where you put the 4, 7 and 9.
@sorrowinthewind4258: switching the 4/9 in column 8 breaks the entropic rule.
Does that mean entropy implies something not stated (I'm guessing LMH order must repeat on line)? Poorly worded for those of us not in the club, then.
@@Romenamath I came to agree with you, @sorrowinthewind4258. But I see it now. The entropic line in box 8 continues into box 9.
Doh!
11:21, surprised by that time as I mistyped near the end and had to undo.
