Do you think the new HP Hyperx cloud 2's are as good as the Kingston ones? Should i buy the Razer Blackshark v2's over the HP Cloud 2's? I'm not sure and i dont know if stores are still shipping the old good Kingston Hyperx Cloud 2's.
I had to double back for a second for mic test. LITERALLY DIDNT NOTICE YOU CHANGED THE MIC. Man im excited for it to arrive tomorrow.
Update: headset sounds as review mentioned. Not much on lows but not too much on highs as well good balance. But if someone comes from Bassy / Sony sounding headsets they might miss it but using EQ gets it set up great.
One small disappointment is the microphone volume sounds a bit less than i would want it to be. Can easily just use Gain with Apo no problem on PC but console could be troubling for me.
I'd really appreciate if someone could test their Cloud 3 on like an Xbox and see if it picks up the mic in party or discord chat. Feel like xbox does its own automatic gain thing it messes up my voice

Did you use the USB dongle? Another review mentioned that the dongle lowered bass somewhat, so if you want bass, it may be better through the 3.5mm jack.

When I used the cloud 3 on Xbox, via the 3.5, my friend said there was an audible hum/buzzing noise in the mic, so I returned them. He heard a constant buzz when I was talking during mw2
Very nice video. I bought the cloud 3 but the mic monitoring is not working although enabled via Ngenuity. I use In ear monitors for my band so that's what I want, to hear my voice in my ears. I also enabled it in windows sound under recording but the latency is terrible. What am I missing here?

Hyperx has crazy build quality. The problem with me is the hinges break on most of my headphones, arctis,logitech. on hyperx it never broke off

Hey BadIntent! Following your videos for some time now, and I got a question. First, I really love the way you do your videos. They are informative, your way of talking isn't putting me to bed and overall it's just fun to watch.
I'm on my journey for a new headset right now, since my old Astro A50 is slowly dying apparently, even had it fixed with tape straps, lmao. Anyways, I became stuck with your recommendations for the HyperX Cloud III and the Cloud III Wireless. They both seem to have pro's and con's, were you actually able to pin down significant differences in both of them? Like, mostly the sound quality. I'm a very convenient FPS-player, so footstep sounds are a must. On the other hand I'm not that much pulled into mic quality of the wired version, since I have a static mic attached to my desk which I'd use in that case anyways - the wireless one would just make up for it when I'm doing something else while talking to the boi's, for example cleaning stuff or just being around the room.
I guess it all comes down to the differences in clarity of the sound. What's your take on that? Thanks a lot by now!
In sound quality specifically, they sound identical to me except for the fact that the Cloud III wireless has a constant electronic feedback hiss. Probably about the same volume as the A50, so if you're used to it with that, it'll be about the same. But clarity, and EQ etc all the same.

Hello. I was using your equalizer apo settings for my cloud 2. Today I got a cloud 3 wired but not enjoyed its sound compared to my cloud 2 with eq apo. What should i do to make it sound more better like my cloud 2 for basses? Ngenuity or eq apo? Which one? And can you recommend me a bass boost preset for cloud3? Thanks.
The Cloud III just doesn't have the same amount of bass as the Cloud II. I personally prefer NGENUITY when it actually works, because it doesn't limit the volume. But they both work.
Really just lower values over 4KHz and if that's not enough then raise values under 750 Hz. But the III won't ever get quite the bass of the Cloud II.

I compared the Cloud 2 to the BlackShark V2 in a different video. I think the Cloud 3 is better than the BlackShark V2 in every way.
I bought them they are OK considering I've never used cloud 1 or 2. But I hate the mic volume its waaaaaay too low they need to fix it. I had to use EqualizerAPO on 20 gain its ridiculous.
Hello, I will buy some headphones, but I am not sure if the Cloud Alpha or ASTRO Gaming A40 TR Wired Headset are better but without the MixAmp Pro accessory... do you think that without the MixAmp Pro they are still better? Because the amplifier accessory further increases the value of the Astro Headset..... i will play on PC
Sorry for late reply. I think the A40 still sounds great without the Mixamp. Imo it's only really useful for console play if you need to swap between EQ presets regularly. On PC it can increase the volume by maybe 10%, but everything else you can do without the MixAmp.

Yes, I think the Cloud III is better in every way - headphone audio, build, mic, comfort. Great choice.
If you want music you're better buying headphones rather than gaming headphones. They sound kind of flat.
But the difference with the blackshark razer tho is u get presision footsteps so u now the direction they are coming from do u get that in these like black shark as better sounding for footsteps and were they are coming from u can close ur eyes and almost point to right were the footsteps are coming from if they are above or below do u get this on the hyper x

I've used some more mainstream devices like the Sony XM5 and a few Bose headphones. But for stuff like the hd560, probably the Sony MDR-7506 is the closest to traditional headphones that I've used lately.
I had Cloud II for 8 years and loved them very much, this week my mic stopped working and I started looking for the same one but I ve heard that since HP took over the brand it went to shit, did you touch CLOUD II from HP and what you think? Hi, few questions, my Kingston HyperX Cloud 2 Broke 2 days ago and i was planning on buying the same model but i’ve seen many peoples disappointed on how they sound since hp bought them, does this change also affect the HyperX Alpha? Because i was planning on switching to the Alphas (60€ in my country) or waiting for the Clouds 3 (110€), the kingston hyperx cloud 2 were amazing since i play on console and usually fps games like apex legends, so i’m trying to understand if the Alphas are as good as them (mainly talking about hearing enemies and footsteps) or if the sound has been changed to worse on the alphas too, thank you so much.

Dude ily so much! I got Wireless version of Cloud 3 but volume level wasn’t it for me. It felt quiet. I wasn’t sure if it was because it’s Wireless but i didn’t like it. I returned them to get a different model. I was like should i get C2’s or C3’s. Then i watched your video and made my decision. And you tested Cloud 3 Wireless and Wired versions. Can you say that Wireless is quieter than Wired?

Great video! I'm looking for comfort, gaming, movie, microphone, and music purposes (Like general). i have Realtek ALC897 and i need usb cause of that. The options is Corsair hs80 usb 70dolar, Logitech G Pro X usb 80dolar, Steelseries arctis Nova 3 usb 65 dolar and Cloud 3 for 100 dolar. There is a 30 dolar difference between Cloud 3 and Corsair hs80 usb. Withoud dolby, do you think i should pay that extra 30 dolar to get that better sound quality with HyperX Cloud III? Like this is my first headset and i wanna know if i buy HS80 USB will i regret cause of the bad sound quality that hs80 have? People say hs80 audio not good but i dont understand how bad it is? Since im living in asia i cant return the product :/

@@BiOHZRD97Yea i was using my monitors 4W audio 💀I Saw a couple youtubers didnt like the HyperX Cloud 3 but some said it is worth to upgrade. They measured it and it was improved version but in terms of raw experience some ytbers didnt like it. If money isnt that much of a problem u can always buy Epos Closed back or Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2
hardware canucks has a pretty sobering review of the Hyper X Cloud 3. In particular, the location of opponents is said to be pretty bad. The cloud 2 is said to have a significantly better audio perception in terms of spatial positioning and distancing.
what is your opinion?
The problem with trying to define spatial positioning is what does that specifically mean? If it's soundstage, the III is wider. If it's driver positioning, the III's are angled.
Both are stereo devices, so there's only a left and right with no verticality. So not only do I not think the Cloud II's have better spatial positioning and distancing. I also don't think that can be solidly defined in a headset anyway.

I've been looking to replace my TB Stealth 700 Get 2 Max cause I just simply am not impressed with anything regarding them. I have been looking at the Cloud III and decided to grab them. Hopefully they will work better cause I really do not like using my current headset. I use a Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro for my PC and have been absolutely blown away by the quality of that headset.

HyperX Cloud 3 and Cloud Alpha are better than the Blackshark. The only thing is that Razer Synapse with good Equalizer can have good positional sound.
Is just that maybe Ngenuity needs to improve it's software.

If you enjoy the sound and comfort of the Cloud II, I think it's a better choice to get the III. The Cloud III wins in comfort, and even though the PC38X sounds better imo, it's a very different tuning so it will take getting used to after 5 years with the Cloud II.
I went from cloud alpha to PC38X and I actually returned the PC38X after just a few days and sticked to my old pair of alphas. To me, the sound quality was either mostly the same or a little worse, and it wasn't as comfortable.

From the looks of it the Cloud 3 doesn´t come with Velour Pads like the Cloud 2 and the latter pads seem incompatible with the Cloud 3's. I can´t stand Leather. I wish they would have inlcuded Velour Pads like they used to.

Cloud Core DTS is very similar to the Cloud II. Just a bit smaller.

It works on Xbox if you use the 3.5 mm cable only. If you use it USB, it does not work on Xbox.
It's due Microsoft's rules about branding/licensing.

It's not true 7.1 surround sound, but it does have a surround sound virtualizer in the software.

Probably the Alpha S in that case. It's not as comfortable though so probably try it on at a Best Buy first if you have one near you.

@@turbo_dan777 It's better than the Alpha S, but virtual surround sound in headphones is inherently a gimmicky audio filter anyway. So it's not going to help in FPS games.

I promise, it is my last short question…😅 About sound in games, you told in video that it is perfect. Did you change something in equalizer or in soft application from HyperX before you start gaming, or you just open box, connect to the computer and start gaming without any additional settings?

i had a 3D pulse for a year the ear cushions started peeling off and now i’m going back to hyper x. the pulse sound is very average , the 3D positioning was good though. im gonna go back to wired though, i’m just stuck between getting the cloud 3 or the alpha

Eventually I would upgrade, but it's not a rush imo. Cloud II is still very good.

Currently i'm using a well used pair of alphas. I bought a pair of PC38X's but I actually returned them after just a few days because they were less comfortable, didn't have better sound (IMO), and they were quite expensive. At this point i'm deciding whether to buy a new pair of alphas or try cloud 3.

I've been using Cloud 2 for more than 7 years now.
I got the Cloud 3 a few days ago. After several direct comparison tests with the cloud 2, I decided to send it back immediately the next day
The sound is a joke compared to the Cloud 2, especially in FPS games like Pubg and Hunt Showdown where the sound is so crucially important.
The Cloud 2 offers excellent perception and location of footsteps and makes the sound much more direct and clearer compared to the Cloud 3! When playing, the Cloud 3 literally sounds like it came out of a tin can. Shooting with my own weapon is much too loud, but at the same time the ambient noise is much too quiet and the location and spatial perception of footsteps etc. is terribly bad and much too quiet!!!
You can also hear clear cable noises, which is also a bit annoying.
Only the design and wearing comfort are impeccable and also a clear improvement. But unfortunately that alone is not enough.
For me it's not a worthy successor. I can't recommend it at all and I'm very disappointed

@@emab.8878 After intensive research, I came to the conclusion that the epos drop PC38X is the best choice for me. It actually seems to be the best gaming headset on the Market.
An alternative would be the predecessor, the Epos Drop PC37X for less money.

Unless you are a cod sweater I really recommend to everyone the alpha over the cloud 3. Even if you are a cod sweater if you use your pc for anything else normal use like youtube twitch music other games the alpha is far superior sound quality. Honestly if you are buying headsets just for footsteps and competitive crap like that then hyperx is far from the best anyway. There is zero reason to buy a inferior headset than does some compeititve aspects good over having a much better all around headset like the alpha.
Honestly I would even say just get 2 pairs if you care that much about competitive. Would only be around 110-130 to get the alpha and another much better competitive game headset. Yours ears will thank you for not trying to use these competitive gaming headsets for everyday pc use trust me.
Don't take me wrong, but you're reviewing the Cloud II by Kingston, which they sold the Hyperx to HP couple years ago, which also means that the one you have is out of sale forever, and the quality of the new Hyperx cloud 2 made by HP is simply rubbish! It went from the best headset for its price to one of the worst. I'd love if you could buy or get the new Cloud 2 to make new reviews and compare to other headsets!
I also had the cloud 2 from kingston, bought it around 2017 and unfortunately it started to die this year, so I decided to buy a new pair without knowing what I just said above. Thought they sold me a fake cloud II, but no, it was just the HP quality, and decided to return them. Now I'm still trying to find a new great headset as good and as 'cheap' as the HyperX were back then.

Couldn't agree more, HP has ruined the legendary headset.
I've seen a variation of this comment enough times so that today I went in Best Buy and bought the newer HP Cloud II to test it side by side with the Kingston one. I'll document the differences.

I just got some new CloudX's the Kingston ones. I also have the Cloud Flight. I am really happy with those two though.
I wanna try these out but I wasn't impressed with the HP Cloud 2's I think the different materials and hollow earcups/plastic drivers really impacted the sound, highs were almost painful.
I'm not in any rush though so I'll probs wait for a sale.
What do you mean with "cloadX the new ones from Kingston?" Are they 2 version's if the cloadX? Xbox Version of the cloud..

Sounds like what Techne said. Honestly all 3 reviews I've watched (Techne, Gadgetry Tech, Ryan Ho) say pretty much the same thing just with slightly different conclusions. The bass isn't as boomy, the highs are tamed a bit, and the FPS performance is really good.
But yeah, it's very subjective. For the most fun sounding device, I also think there are better options.

Well the option is always there to buy second hand (barely used or change the ear cups) or get a good sale but just don't like how fragile the maxwell and penrose is for the price even if you could get them for a good price
