    Join us today as we make my Grandma's Pine Tar Soap. We use a process called High Temperature Hot Process to make beautiful hot process soap in less than ten minutes without the use of a crockpot or stove. Heat your oils up in the microwave for a fast and easy saponification process. Grandma had tons of recipes, but her most famous recipes included her pine tar and goat milk soaps. We included conditioning hemp oil for an even milder cleanse and added sorbitol and citric acid for a more abundant and voluminous lather. This was so awesome to watch. I don't understand why someone would downvote this. I'm now more curious about the history of soapmaking and what kinds of things went into soap throughout the centuries.

      I downvote it because there are no ingredients listed, no time periods for resting, etc. He shows you how it’s done but not how to do it with a recipe.

    Do you think possibly you will create a liquid soap pone tar recipe???? My customers love pine tar! And have requested something for scalp and body in liquid form

      I usually make a pine tar body wash and shampoo with non-soap surfactants, but I can certainly do some testing with a pine tar liquid soap. My concern would be that it wouldn't remain emulsified in the solution and would precipitate when used in higher concentrations (it is hydrophobic which makes it an excellent sealer and water protectant, one of the reasons why it used to be popular because it was used to protect wooden ships). I am not sure an emulsifier would help in this case, but I can do some testing at different concentrations and can certainly find out! I will keep you posted! xo

      The recipe is provided in the link and in the Student Recipe Book online. And then pine tar is added after the cook, as depicted in the video.

    what your temps for your oils and lye?...

    • @THEULTIMATEGUIDETOSOAP
      @THEULTIMATEGUIDETOSOAP  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the process you are using, the types of oils used, the strength of your immersion blender and more. During High Temperature Hot Process, we add the lye after dissolved and do not allow it to cool. The oils are heated to a temeprature that correlates with the fatty acid composition.

      @@laurieflores1107 If you are using a High Temperature Hot Process M
      Method, such as the one used in this video, I would recommend a higher starting temperature of around 210-215F, so long as you are familiar with the safety protocols and feel comfortable with the use of higher temperatures in soap making.

    I thought pine tar accelerated at such a ridiculous rate that you shouldn’t use a hand blender? Like, this defies every instruction out there! What’s different?
