Bible study is good anyway you do it. God's lessons can come directly from the Bible. We're called to follow the Holy Spirit's guidance to interpret its meaning & apply it to our lives. The lessons can also come through a guided Bible study, which is looking at the Word of God through the focused lens of someone else's interpretation. I see the Chosen series as a dramatization Bible study in cinematic format. I, too, have family & friends who refuse to watch the Chosen. They all have different reasons. I try not to judge or take it personally. Instead, I pray that the Holy Spirit will triple His efforts to soften their hearts & bring the message of Christ's love for them in a different way that fits them like a glove. He is really good at building custom things, you know. Just look at how different each of us are. Variety really is the spice of life. May God continue to abundantly bless you in everything that you say & do.

When Jesus said, “I am who I am,” he was quoting Himself speaking to Moses at the burning bush. See Exodus 3:14. I’ve been listening to this preacher recently, and he pointed out that you can’t really understand the story of Jesus if you don’t know the back story of the Old Testament, and it’s so true. Basically, Jesus is saying, “I am God, the self-existent one.”

Great idea to stay outside of holywood for this production. A little known fact is that wiches and wizzards of old used wood from the holy tree to make wands and staves. when one can see the evil that comes out of holywood this makes some sense.

Don't know why I didn't notice this the first time I saw the program, but Nathanael lit his plans on fire using a ferrocerium rod.. Ferro rods weren't invented until the mid-1900's.. Out of everything in these shows, including clothing, accoutrements, decorations, etcera, that is the ONLY thing I have seen out of place.. The research for this show has been brilliant.
I Am is the name God gave to Moses when Moses asked Him what His name was. Moses asked God what name he should give to the Israelites when they asked who sent him to rescue them. God said to tell them that I Am sent Moses.

Very important tidbit, the Bible says "Love your neighbor as you do yourself", not more, not less, not sacrifice yourself for your neighbor. I misunderstood this one little thing for years and that got me involved with some terribly abusive people and situations which I believe God worked out for my good in the end, but was a very unnecessary pain I carried. Please let's make note of that. Don't be Jesus, he was a perfect man made in a perfect image, we're not that, and most of the world isn't. Don't drown yourself in the name of living or caring for others. That's not love.

Jesus took the old testament, and taught it in such a way, that our minds open NEW categories. Love your enemy. That was NOT a category in the Jewish ( or ANY) worldview that was understood. Christ didn't rebuked the old testament, as you know, he fulfilled it. What is the spirit of the commandments shall not murder, do not steal, love your neighbor, give hospitality to travelers and foreigners. It's all in 3 words. Love your enemy.

Of course, I'm not biting on this because I don't believe that John's "In the beginning" is the beginning of all creation. Genesis 1 does not need clarification nor amendment. Rather, John 1 starts to tell the tale, in the format of one's memoirs, of the beginning of the Christian movement (Jesus' ministry), because at the time it was written, John was the only person left alive on the earth who knew Jesus personally. John was therefore the only person who could talk about how the whole thing started - in the beginning. @59:34 - There is also the issue of the money. Are they using the money that Nicodemus gave them? Remember in season one episode 8 Nicodemus passed on the invitation to follow Jesus and gave Jesus money instead. And Matthew said it was enough for 2 weeks food and lodging. Now if they are using that money to buy food for the gentleman in "need" then Jesus is forcing the issue of using one's faith to depend on God for one's provisions i.e. food, shelter and drink. Which is the way Jesus walked anyway. It is the way that disciples of Christ should walk. Not an easy walk tho.😏

1:35:15 This whole pregnant pause thing is supposed to drive home the point that this is where John gets the indellible impression to begin his gospel (many years later) with the same "In the beginning" thing that was the selection at this synagogue that day. Of course, I'm not biting on this because I don't believe that John's "In the beginning" is the beginning of all creation. Genesis 1 does not need clarification nor amendment. Rather, John 1 starts to tell the tale, in the format of one's memoirs, of the beginning of the Christian movement (Jesus' ministry), because at the time it was written, John was the only person left alive on the earth who knew Jesus personally. John was therefore the only person who could talk about how the whole thing started - in the beginning. This is why John returns to these chin-stroking synopses and summations in narrative over & over again - he is sharing his [inspired] impressions & conclusions, which matter because, by that time, the basic story is known from the other 3 gospels, by then written almost a generation ago. This perspective is, in fact, necessary to notice certain things in the gospel, such as the fact that "only-begotton" occurs ONLY in those narrative retrospectives - made in the voice & time-frame of [now old] John. Once you see this, you can appreciate how that phrase only-begotten is used of the post-resurrection Christ, the immortal Christ, the [now] begotten from the dead Christ, in accordance with Acts 13:33 (which explains the "this day have I begotten thee" from Ps. 2:6-7).
@59:34 - There is also the issue of the money. Are they using the money that Nicodemus gave them? Remember in season one episode 8 Nicodemus passed on the invitation to follow Jesus and gave Jesus money instead. And Matthew said it was enough for 2 weeks food and lodging. Now if they are using that money to buy food for the gentleman in "need" then Jesus is forcing the issue of using one's faith to depend on God for one's provisions i.e. food, shelter and drink. Which is the way Jesus walked anyway. It is the way that disciples of Christ should walk. Not an easy walk tho.😏

Thank you. I understand the hesitation to call one's self "Christian." So many have taken His name as a form of vanity. "Taking His name in vein." The word "Christian" is so very polluted these days. It has many different meaning to many different people.
