I went to Hastings Boy, and our level of playing has only recently reached the peak of New Zealand rugby. Hamilton has been up at the top for many years. I would go as far to day they are a school built on and for rugby. Other schools in the south island or Auckland also have intensively run programs used to target up and coming players
