Another great flexible recipe. I would love to work nut butter (peanut butter) into the recipe and to avoid the mess of cocoa powder these would be great rolled in toasted coconut. I would imagine other fruits you can blend into a purée should work as a good substitute. I still haven’t made them but I am contemplating trying with apples.

Condensed milk, as far as I know, is made with sugar in it, usually. You can make it yourself really, it’s just regular milk boiled and stirred until you evaporate most of the water in it. A bit like making jam.
I wonder about that too. This recipe is similar to brigadeiro. I use a whole can to sweetened condensed milk and 2 to 3 soup spoon. All this is in a pot over a heating element. The result is something similar to 60 - 70% cocoa level of sweetness. My guess this person made something taste around 70% plus in cocoa level. 50 - 60% is considered dark chocolate by US standard.
This one didn't quite work for me, unfortunately. It would always other come out extremely bitter orr too liquid due to the amount of condensed milk (if one tried to add more to counteract the bitterness), meaning it wouldn't harden. I speculate it could have been the type of cocoa used - mine was the baking one, which wasn't sweetened. Perhaps something like nesquik could produce a different result.
I used hershey's cocoa and I like it It is also unsweetened cocoa powder Hmm so I think it can be problem of condensed milk I hope you make good chocolate
