Fight Training Using Visualization

  • Here is a look at how I prepare for a fight using visualization. It all begins from your opponent. How do they stand? Orthodox or Southpaw? Then, I begin by looking at how they fight. II don't obsess over the techniques they favor or don't favor, I get a general sense of their rhythm and a few techniques they favor. After, the strategy is formed against the opponent.
It won't always be perfect, in Thailand sometimes you won't know who you fight until you step inside of the ring-that's where your diligent training takes over, the amount of repetitions you've practiced for different styles of opponents and experience. This is why it is important to fight against all different styles of fighters.
Visualizing yourself winning the fight and getting the better of exchanges should be included in this learning. Visualizing yourself in the negative and getting defeated or dominated in a certain exchange (particularly one that your opponent is good at) is also useful and beneficial-if it happens then it won't come as a shock and you will be able to overcome that certain exchange much easier.

When you describe him as a 'technical fighter' what does that mean for you exactly? What does it mean for you strategically speaking? From what you're saying it sounds like this means he will prefer to move back a lot, and set up counter attacks rather than come forward.

Yes, exactly that. More of a counter fighter, using his experience
