      It is safe to swim with the stingrays in Antigua as they have become use to human activity. However, they do have stinging barbs with poison and they can inflict damage if they are not treated well. You are supposed to shuffle your feet in the sand as to not step on them.

      Ah that's interesting that they are used to people. The wild ones around Sydney take any sudden movement as a threat. Would have been a great experience swimming with them!

      News18 It was a 30 minute ride on a van from the port to the dock where the stingray tour begins. Then it’s about 10 minute boat ride to a reef off the coast of Antigua. The stingrays are not penned up but congregate in the reef do to bring fed by humans.
