    The kemper acoustic simulator sounds great!!! It dwarfs the Hotone

  • @Ken.Kmetz.
    @Ken.Kmetz. 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    1. The Hotone sounds thin and metallic. 2. The Kemper has some acoustic qualities, but lacks depth and dynamics. 3. I fail to see why anyone would want a solid body electric guitar to sound like an acoustic guitar. Sorry Aaron. I don’t mean to sound overly critical. But this subject is bordering on guitar sacrilege.

      It’s a tool. When you play in a cover band you are able to simulate some acoustic guitar intros etc. Thats why they created it. In that regard I think they did a great job. It’s not supposed to replace a real acoustic.

    it sounds really amazing with the right guitar and pickups, i doesnt work nice an all guitars though.
    i usually dont install betas, but for this one i made an exception :-)
    great video and comparision!

    Of course the Martin sounds amazing, but, that not really the point. The point is that strat sounded a hell of a lot like an acoustic. In a blind test I would've sworn it was an acoustic guitar. In fact I am really surprised at how good it sounded!

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Me too. With the right pickup selected and some EQ it sounds fantastic.

    The acoustic guitar sounds great, but the Strat through the kemper sounded surprisingly good. The kemper falls down when you play an Em. The kemper is good enough for a live gig, where you just need an acoustic for a few songs.

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally. Like I said NOTHING sounds like a Martin with a good microphone so the fact that the Kemper is in the same ballpark is really fantastic.

    Darn, that Kemper is the closest I’ve ever heard.

    The Kemper Acoustic simulator, sounds really nice. Kemper needs to profile a couple high end acoustic amps, like the AER Compact 60, so I can play my real acoustic guitar through my Kemper.

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can play your acoustic guitar through it now. Most acoustic amps are solid state and built to sound very transparent. If you disable the amp and cab on the Kemper and just use the EQ controls (or a parametric EQ block) your acoustic should sound great. You can even look up the manual for the AER and copy the EQ curve that it has. It won’t sound exactly the same but it should sound excellent through a good full range speaker or PA system.

    Great stuff Aaron. I definitely thought that the Kemper was way better on this video than your first one. I'm sure I could get away with that on a handful of songs &/or intros during the night. I will have to wait till it's not Beta unfortunately :( Thanx Aaron-all the best

    • @jasonalexander5253
      @jasonalexander5253 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aaronshortmusic Yes, it's getting there - maybe a little low end EQ or some fairy dust of some sort. If you were going to play acoustic style tunes for a good percentage of your show; you would probably want to take your favorite acoustic with you anyway.

    Great video Aaron. To my ears it's incomparable, but it would work very well in a pop mix. Listening in my KRK VXT8.

    I don’t know the strat is pretty good sounding wit simulator ,but I agree nothing like a Martin with a mic 🎤 but for on the fly stage situation quick clean opening then a distorted rhythm ,back n forth song if ya follow me would work great 👍

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah and also you can run a parallel path with the electric guitar sound to get some dual guitar type tones!

    I don’t get the point of putting a floor controller up on a stand. Just use the computer based interface and leave it on the floor.

      Don. I agree but I use it for the videos. It also comes in handy for other pedals that do not have software editors.

      Please leave a link... I would like to try. ALSO... I use the Kemper a lot in small venues for all my electric gtrs live. But I always bring my Taylor acoustic also. But because of stage AND house-sound constraints, I run my Taylor acoustic through the Kemper also. What are your favorite Kemper settings for playing an acoustic? Would the acoustic-simulator work in a situation like this?
