Reading goals are kind of like New Year resolutions in a sense: full of fuzzy air, with a tinge of grand standing😂. To me, the world doesn't really has to know what goals you set for yourself going forward. Readng will always be a deeply personal chore, a loneley road to tread. Like the hero's journey without the aid of a wizard. Reading should be at one's own pace, instead of a rat race to see who scores the most points.
Getting through your physical TBR is a laudable goal and one I should take on board myself. I went a bit nuts last year buying used books about Soviet Russia and would love to make a dent in that pile. But what did I do instead? I got Lenin's biography out the library. I mean that's not going to help at all in getting through my TBR! Still worth it though. And I'm not planning to buy any more for a while.
Ha, I do something similar all the time! I think it's because when I own the book, the sense of novelty/urgency is gone. And then somehow a library book, with a due date, gains priority... Here is to us reading our actual books!
Happy new year mrs Celine . Iam Arabic lady subscriber to several British and American TH-cam channels. We are as foreigners subscribers as overseas students want to increase our cultural level and improve our English as well , literature lovers too but first of all make friendships with people from different countries. I hope we became intimate friends from now on. My name is khatoon it’s Turkish origin means Nobel lady as princess. Your name is French and Latin origin means heavenly. I looked up for meaning of eclectic means composed of elements drawn from various sources. Best wishes for you your dearest ones .
How I wish I could read in different languages. I do read a lot in translation. I also want to read more Shakespeare and classics from Asia or South Amercia this year. Great video. Good luck with your goals 😊
My reading goals for this year are to read 50 books and to read a Shakespeare play every month. Sadly, I have not read any Shakespeare plays, so I'm making it a goal to read them this year. This month it's Hamlet!
“To thine own self be true.” Hamlet, Act I, Scene III. So much to choose from. Best wishes with your reading choices this year and to your channel.
Good luck with your goals for 2024! 😀
Thank you! You too!
